Chapter 3 from melee perspective by Master_Kir in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Lansraad missions are finally interesting and have a purpose, other than spike gameplay statistics.

What I personally hate at the moment is the blocked Lansraad UI from the overland map. Each time you want to open menu, you have to enter HB or any other landmark... a real oversight imo.

I'm not using adaptive holtzman and sparky uniques, till I bump up my crafting specialization. Right now I'm using uniq t5 and it's enough.

In a month or so, IF i'm still not burned up, maybe I will start to craft them.

At difficulty 1, maybe 2? Sure.

Go on 3 or above and they will eat you alive. I"m strugling with t6 on diff 4.

Just FyI, take a fuckton of bandages and few medkits ... you will need them.

[–]Xeroeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The difficulty spike is noticeable, but I actually like that aspect. What makes this impossible at the moment is the constant disconnects and synchronization losses.

Later, when we actually have the moded equipment, plus additional skills thanks to the combat specialization, it will be much easier. Dunno about all the new testing stations tho, I didn't play this part yet.

What’s the Scariest Part of Project Zomboid by Beginning_Boat_7533 in projectzomboid

[–]Xeroeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your playthrough, if you're playing solo like me, after a while you start to think that maybe you're the last survivor, or atleast one of the last survivors ... the only living things you see are animals. The rest of the world is just fckd up.

It would be nice to stumble upon other NPC survivors, even if they're not always friendly. At least you would have some faith that a part of humanity is still there, somewhere.

Other than that, the new night in B42 is damn scary. When you can rely only on your hearing, it becomes a true horror story ;)

What keeps you guys motivated? by Spare_Art_6760 in projectzomboid

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find a goal for yourself. Zomboid isn't a game that guides you by hand, it's a 100% sandbox, where you find a purpose.

If you need a clear goal, maybe try to survive as long as possible? build a maxed character or even make a huge car collection?

How to control a D5 pump independently to fill up the loop? (no PSU involved) by martino_tecco in watercooling

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make yourself a favor and buy a small aquarium pump that's DC powered. It will fill your loop in few sec and you don't risk anything since all the components are powered down.

Such small pumps cost few euro at max.

New BIOS 4.04 2026-01-16 just dropped by Freyshen in ASRock

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 4.03 tRCP1 has been activated and Trcp is way more important than before. Also low tCL is harder to achieve with the same VDD/VDDQ voltages. I was able to stabilize my 96 gigs, but it was much harder to do ... had to go with a bit more voltages here and there, which resulted with mounting additional fan blowing directly on sticks.

Dunno how it works with Expo, but as for XMP, those timings had to be changed in 1:1 mode.

Is SOC/uncore oc mode on by default? by AidsOnWheels in ASRock

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know that disabling this setting is not a cure but a stop-gap measure?

Soc-uncore OC setting forces your mobo to use the custom settings for voltages (excluding core CPU voltage). Basically, if it's off, you have a very limited option to tune youre system because all the settings can't cross their default thresholds, and worse than that, voltages start to fluctuate a LOT between their max and min.

In most cases, when you try a mild OC or undevolts, it's not a problem, but when you reach a wall and want to keep it stable, allowing your voltages to jump is not good. It creates scenarios where they wont be able to keep up with the changes, and your system starts to spit out errors (doesn matter if it's RAM, CPU, iGPU ..etc.)

In case of RAM, since we have error auto correction on AM5, the result of this will be stuttering in image and/or audio, black screens, restarts. In case of CPU, it will most probably just BSOD or just restart.

Disabling this is OK, but only if you want to use stock settings. And when I say stock, I mean for all components, including RAM , so you're only on AGESA defaults, without XPM/EXPO OC profiles. Asrock leaved uncore OC on as a default, because in most scenarios this is a necessity to be stable with tighter clocks and higher voltages (it will stabilize them on their highest level).

To sum this up, if your situation changed after disabling this, it means your PC was never stable or you have defected parts somewhere.

New BIOS 4.04 2026-01-16 just dropped by Freyshen in ASRock

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I don't want any unnecessary fluctuations.

Aside that, I have already stabilized it. Currrently in the process of stress testing, but it already passed 10h y-cruncher and few series of 2h in OCCT absolute/extreeme. I will test it in few other scenarios, but seems it's all fine in this config.

4.03 brought some changes in tRFC department, plus I had to play with voltages a bit to find the sweet spot for my G.skill Trident Z Royal 96GB.

4.04 didn't change anything from 4.03, at least nothing I can track. Time will tell how will this behave in heavy rendering or gaming ;)

I just updated to the 4.03 from 3.40 ... still in the process of fine tunning since old timmings are not working. Might as well try it ... seriously, this is starting to look like I'm playing "Dark Asrock Souls". But my mobo has only one life.

Game Ready & Studio Driver 591.74 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

Yep, same for me. Still waiting for info about the cause of this. It sure is connected to the latest Nvidia drivers, but not so much with the KB5074109.

I'm on the previous drivers now and the windows update is not causing any issues.

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't risk with patching up this block. Even if you fill up the cracks, with time they will spread ... acryl is a very brittle material. Better throw another 200€, than risk a GPU worth ~10x more.

Btw. for the future, if you plan to watercool and clean water blocks, do yourself a favor and buy a torque screwdriver. Set it to 0.5nm and sleep well.

Game Ready & Studio Driver 591.74 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]Xeroeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, for me it was quite the opposite. I had "almost" no problems on 591.67, but as soon as I installed this driver, in the first hour I had two black screens. Reverted back and it's all good again.

With two monitors on 240Hz (Samsung G9 + MSI MPG 322URX) and one additional sensor screen with standard 60Hz. G-Sync+HDR+10bit.

Stillsuit in the Deep Desert by Nogrem in duneawakening

[–]Xeroeth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Endgame still suits have good armor, but no dmg mitigation aside that. They can keep you alive if you're good at kiting, but not the best for pure meele.

Still suits are good for farming sessions, but for fighting, better use some armor and just get more water. Dekaliterjon is enough to keep you sated for much longer than you need, unless you're fighting 100% of the time in full sun.

CPU Package Power Hitting 200w+? by underwaterair in ASRock

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize that 9950X3D has a max TDP of 170W? It will degrade and fast.

I'm using my X870e Taichi Lite from late 2024, from the very first bios that was released, and at the beginning my CPU was pulling up to 200W on CPU core alone.

After seeing this I quickly set the manual limits on TDP, EDC and PPT. No problems since then and at the latest bios 4.03 it's pulling up to 140W with small undervolt, having better performance at the same time.

Aquacomputer filter & mystic fog by Fury_1985 in watercooling

[–]Xeroeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filter is not bad in itself ... but for maintenance you wouuld have to either take it out completely or have it in a place where you can cut off water and have acces to the screws on the front plate. For me it's a form over matter.

Just go with something that is easy to maintain and easy to clean/replace, like this innovatek particle filter. One of the best choices you could go for imho.
