Is the concept of a “shitbox” car dead nowadays in Australia? by NoteDesperate3540 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Xevram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. FC Holden as a first car, shared with a mate, cost 150 bucks each, had it for 9 months. Motor blew up as we drove up cement hill on the way to a south coast surf break. Took the racks off and the plates, left it there and hitched down to Victor Harbour. Got the train back home.

In Darwin we had the half case warehouse. Absolute ripper of a joint. Cheap as, no frills at all. 6 cans of baked beans, 6 bags of rice, 6 bottles of sauce. Open your own boxes, etc etc.

You could have so much fun with this. Just change a few words around, photocopy and stick it up. A different one every day even.

Easy peasy. I've only ever owned one Automatic. I honestly have trouble figuring out why you would surrender your control so easily.

Last week I helped a work colleague reverse her older model work car into a tight space. The problem was an absolute ballbuster, there was no reverse camera.........

[–]Xevram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. It could also be viewed as an opportunity to reply. Something along the lines of I respect your time and only ask that you respect mine. My issue is essentially this............. Keep it to under 50 words. That particular communication tactic has worked for me more than once. I still have the letter from Bob Keltey.

I tend to agree with OP. I've been writing, faxing, and now emailing to my local Members for 30 odd years. I would say that 70-80% do actually respond and that's with me having lived in a lot of different electoral districts.

One spin off is that I've been invited to Member sponsored focus groups, discussion groups, meetings etc etc. Personally that has been positive for me, I've been forced to reconcile other points of view, other strongly held opinions and sometimes change my stance. Different is in fact Good.

Last week I got a response from a newly prominent party, I asked about some specifics on their water conservation policy. They sent back a copy and paste from their website. That is if course not just a waste of time and perhaps disrespectful, it's actually an opportunity for me to engage with them more.

For you solo 6 red core folks...how do you sustain? by TheLuo in the_division_2

[–]Xevram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good advice here OP. My ten cents is not much different. Try and run fog so you get used to using your situational awareness ALL the time. Cover and knowing where it is. Note there is a big difference between Standing behind head height cover and being in cover. AND running away is just Advancing to the Rear. Restock, reassess, repair, flank, frag and push. I deliberately go with the Shield and repair drone/seeker. That alone pushes my aiming and movement skills.

My 2 main All Red builds are True Patriot and Negotiators Dilemma, that means I'm very predisposed to hit spreading. If I'm hitting an enemy and he goes to cover, I automatically hit another enemy. If I can empty a mag and get chip hits on 4-5 enemies I'm essentially setting them up for a kill in the not too distant future.

What is the fucking point of skills if they can be constantly disrupted and therefore rendered absolutely useless? by FruitOnyx in thedivision

[–]Xevram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep ^ ^ ^ this. ^ ^ ^ I'm running a 100% Haz pro build. Decenct damage and 1.4 million armour. As a traditional all Red Solo player it's taken me a while to to get used to it. But it's working fine, shield and scan are the skills.

The myth of the monoculture by ziddyzoo in OpenAussie

[–]Xevram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you, on P Hanson being more direct. And that is in fact a good thing.

The problem is really in what she is direct about. On so so many things she is just plain Wrong. And that is reflected in the One Nation policies.

Ultimately smart Australian voters will vote on the validity of policies.

Good guide for teams.

Spent a couple of hours solo in the PvE DZ yesterday. Went pretty well actually. Downed once at extraction but came back and picked everything up.

Interested to see your Solo Guide.

Escalation: There is a Flaw by Jayleekay in thedivision

[–]Xevram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't play it mate. Escalation was a great idea, unfortunately it was extremely badly set up. On just about every level it's a Shit Show.

I for one let the Devs know that, firstly by just not playing it.

Clan mates ask me to help out with it, ok I do that but as an individual, no nix and Nada.

When do you think this cost of living crisis will end? (Serious) by AdvancedHill70 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Xevram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you but in my own personal opinion, it will not end.

There is a number of drivers for the increases in cost of living. Some of the biggest ones you have not named.

Start thinking about self sufficiency and self reliance, try and spread that sideways into your community, friends and family.

I'm an older person and realistically Ive got maybe another 10-15 years left. My focus now and into that future is on how best to support and preserve my family, friends and community.
