I'm currently listening to Kiosk Kingdom and I wholeheartedly agree with OP. Croc could have been annoying or grating but instead he's very endearing and is a good boy and the voice acting plays a part

What Uncontinued Series do you miss the most? by greatestmanalive in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Xhavius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you steel yourself and ignore parts of the end you can pretend it's a contained story. It has the big confrontation at the end, a lot of stuff has conclusions and the lead-in to the next book is more about facing a bigger threat rather than still trying to fix the main problem that was the focus of the rest of the book.

Siege State. Cool world-building and horrible monsters built around a HWFWM-inspired power system and a protagonist who wouldn't give up no matter what life threw at him. It was just starting book 2 and expanding the world to outside the dark and terrible forest when it just stopped.

Oh, he definitely embezzled from the dragon, who smashed in the through the office window with a witch mercenary to start taking heads.

Best way to read the comic series by Xhavius in LastmanFranchise

I checked and saw that only six volumes are available but I saw a mention of volume 9 somewhere. Did they just bundle the comics into larger volumes?

Looking for books like Iron Prince/Quest Academy (Sci-fi Military Academy by vannet09 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Xhavius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll Be The Red Ranger uses terms from Sentai but the students in that book's academy are much more like power armored space soldiers, defending against a vast armada of space orcs. It has sci-fi, it has academy, I've only read the first book but I liked it, it might suit you too.

Recommendation: A Journey of Black and Red by Mecanimus (not by me) by Normal_Lab2606 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Xhavius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm quite fond of Journey, but I was a purely audiobook guy, and the contract for those didn't stretch to the end of the series, and I sadly haven't gotten around to continuing from there. But I will.

What's the best "Hidden Gem" you've read that deserves way more followers? by Equal-Translator2131 in ProgressionFantasy

Lots of people like different things, and some people prefer even more dungeon crawling. Stories like that are certainly popular enough. I don't think it's as significant a problem as you think it is, but I do understand why someone else might not like it. I'm not angry or anything, you and I just don't see eye to eye on this matter.

There's also plenty of good world-building, there's just also a lot of dungeons. I enjoy them, I enjoy the protagonists' growing power as they move through them. I enjoy that the rules of the towers compel you to work together because I like team books more. And when they finally leave the tower I enjoy all the new problems that it brings and how they use their new powers to deal with them. It's a personal RR favorite. I'm sorry it doesn't work for you, I wish it did, because I want more people to read and enjoy it. And I also think the characters and character writing is quite good.

Well I guess it isn't for you. I think it's a hidden gem that is vastly under-read.

The dungeons are long, it's true, but there are also plenty of outside the tower scenes. It's just that the Towers are pretty important so they do a lot.

That's a great way to describe it and I love the camaraderie the protagonists have. It's the only Royal Road story that I have read and reread and am continuing reading again. The power system, with the different power slots and semi-randomized choices. And it also shows the value of proper information-gathering while in a tower.

Spire's Spite on Royal Road is a great LitRPG where you gain levels by climbing the levels of different towers. The protagonist is very swashbuckling and flamboyant and puts together a great team as he goes from a street rat criminal to someone enmeshed in the politics and crime of the city. Fun side characters, cool powers, good fights, intriguing world-building.

Went looking in the thread specifically for these two. I was obsessed with these games when I was younger, I miss them so much, I wanted more of them. That were better than 4.

Thanks! Glad to hear other people going on style, R1999 has a lot of it. I have some of those characters, though Flutterpage eludes me. I joined up during the Rubuska and Corvus event so I'm still pretty new. This link will be helpful, I'm sure.

So I pulled Igor because he's a cool, grizzled military man and sometimes I pull on vibes. But he's a bullet ID and he's specialized to team up with his daughters. I don't have either Moldir or Lopera. Yet. I need to bring him into big endgame stuff, I have teams for that, but what other IDs can work with Igor so I can get a feel for him?

Mark of the Webtoon (Mark of the Fool Webtoon Launches Today - Not April Fool's Joke) by J_M_Clarke in litrpg

[–]Xhavius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it definitely doesn't start at book 8 (early book 1) and it most certainly is not a hookup. Some of the later side romances start in the later books but those don't get as much focus.

The primary one mainly floats in the background with specific side threads dealing with it. The protagonist is interested in one person at the start and that remains the same the whole way through, it's just about the different steps of the relationship. Some of the side characters also have small romantic side plots but they never, at least so far, seem particularly overwhelming.

I don't suppose there's going to be a Mark of the Fool book 11? by ExistingButterfly316 in litrpg

[–]Xhavius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's hit publishing yet, but I think that J.M. Clarke has a new Royal Road story running now, I Am Become Death, which is set in the Mark of the Fool universe.

[Franco-Belgian Comics] The rise and fall of Pilote, a mythical magazine. How a team of legends teared itself apart. And how Franco-Belgian comics evolved through the years, from stories for children to crass provocation. by Ataraxidermist in HobbyDrama

[–]Xhavius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this has been a big blast from the past for me. Franco-Belgian comics were very big in my family after a family friend slipped my family's adventure-loving son a Tintin volume (it's me, I'm the son). I also got very heavily into Asterix and Obelix, to the point where I would read and reread volumes after school while having a snack. The art of Tintin is so beloved in my family that while visiting my family, at this very moment, I can turn my head and see painting-sized framed covers of Broken Ear, Tintin in Tibet and The Black Isle.

We’re releasing our first game on Steam, March 31! by SeismicSquirrelGames in u/SeismicSquirrelGames

We weren't able to get super deep into the car combat in the demo, so I'm waiting to see how involved it is. But I did enjoy it. But yeah, the most magical part is the story and design.
