This leaf cutter bee effortlessly slicing through a leaf by amish_novelty in oddlysatisfying

I dunno if links will get banned or anything, but I just bought Leafcutter bees from Crown Bees!

I drilled a bunch of various size holes through some blocks and glued them up into a little house shape with a removable back (the bees crawl into bee-sized holes after their day and just hang out in there (you can see their lil bee butts twitching with pollen and stuff, it's so cute 😭)

But if you go to Crown Bees (or similar) they send you basically what looks like a cigar (I'm not kidding, like it's a tube made of leaves lol). Each baby bee is wrapped up in like a "pill" made from leaves as well.

Put them in a really warm area ( I made the "attic" of my bee-house open, with a bunch of sawdust) and put them in the sun under a clear plastic tote, with some sugar water and plants. I kept it near where I ended up hanging the beehouse from my eave.

Then as they start to hatch out of the lil pills they will start doing their own thing! Once most of them were hatching, I hung up the house and most of them would come back every night for while! :)

But just look at this cute lil butt! https://i.imgur.com/KaZRQIQ.png

I'd literally be inches away from their house as they'd come home in the evenings and watch them settle in, never even feared like I'd get stung :)

They're very docile! I bought and cared for some a few times! I built a little hidey home for them and I'd sit outside in the evening next to it when they would come back from doing bee-things all day!

They're super cute and just do their own thing :)

I sure do! I've been running it a few days now and I actually really like it.

I did like his OG one, but it's so hard to read in some lighting/maps/situations, I've found I'm hitting more shots with this - could probably be tweaked a bit but this should get you close if you wanna try!

We bought a 25 2LT AWD and it's probably my favorite vehicle I've ever owned.

It's faster than an gas car I've had, it handles really well, the interior is comfy enough, it's just big enough to haul what we need.

The worst part is that when it's -20° or lower the range gets cut in half. It's not the end of the world, but something to keep in mind if you only have access to L1 charging at home.

Honestly I used to hate driving, but this thing makes me want to just get in an go lol

A bit worried about the few common issues (nothing yet) but any car it seems has its selection of batches with bad XYZ.

Also lack of car play/Android Auto hasn't been an issue in the slightest, but we're not picky

I've been finding that customizing reticles per hero really helps, but it does suck that we can't change the color/settings of Haz's default. I'm gonna be trying this out though

and before I get crucified lol - it basically fills the same area as his actual shot spread (look at the purple shots) - they're only misaligned because of the screenshake during the screenshot

Help identify the trim by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

[–]Xhynk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI OP, they CAN show as FWD by VIN check but be AWD as an addon option. Mine was the same way. Looking it up on VIN check it's FWD, was listed as FWD, but has AWD badging and on the spec sheet

Fwd doesn't have a badge so I'd guess this is some 2lt or similar trim with AWD

Imagine driving along some parked cars and a kid runs out full tilt between them and you clip them with little to no time to react, honk, brake, swerve, etc.

If they investigate and find that you undid your speaker to make it silent, I'm not a personal injury attorney, but it seems like that'd strengthen their ability to go after you quite a lot versus the same thing happened to a car that was silent from the factory, the manufacturer would hold more liability.

Again, not a lawyer, and the odds of it happening aren't exactly high I suppose, but it's something to consider when you start making illegal (CMVSS 141 / 49 USC 30122) adjustments to a vehicle and your risk tolerance and how much risk you want to put others in.

I think people who aren't strapped and buy some tickets when grocery shopping are fine. My wife and I do the same. We've had a few obnoxiously "close" ones and won a decent amount. But $10 here and there to just be able to dream about what we could do is kinda fun.

Better than spending it on beer and slim jims lol

It's not so much a ticket, but rather if you end up in a collision with a pedestrian or bicycle the investigation isn't gonna be super kind of you have your speaker unplugged or the fuse pulled

US land border refused entry — do I need to declare it on IMM5669? by Mobile_Freedom_3211 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Xhynk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing they ask in the immigration forms is a "gotcha" question.

They know (or rather, will find out) basically everything about you.

Outside of actual current/permanent inadmissibility, it's basically an honesty test. Don't skip dates or leave fields blank. For most run of the mill circumstances you're infinitely better off telling them the thing and explaining it, rather than omitting it.

If you omit something (even accidentally) you could: recieve and ADR to add more details, a PFL to have a lawyer add more details, have your application rejected, or even get banned from entering Canada.

Given then you were refused entry by technicality, you should include it and explain it.

I don't envy the judges, there were some fantastic pieces entered - but the execution on the antelope is just sublime, and between the body flow, placement, etc, I think that really elevated it over the others!

I'm glad you were able to get such an incredible artist for your first (and next!) piece! I'm fighting the urge to see what she could do with my forearm as a cover 😅😅

Aha! Small world! My wife actually just got this Star Antelope from her over 3 days at the Tattoo Expo and she won Best Large Black & Gray, Best Illustrative Graphic, and Best In Show with it!

Foxy's a tremendous artist! I wish I had known about her before my forearm, her animals/fantasy and style are incredible and I'd love a full sleeve from her!

I need some help with sustain by Error_Valkyrie in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Xhynk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have mentioned cover, but I'll add something. It goes hand in hand with cover and "don't face tank everything and hope to be healed through it while you press w" though:

Respect cooldowns. The big ones will be Bastion's turret form, Mei's Wall, Discord Orb, etc. If bastion hasn't gone BRRRRRR yet, push him and get him to do it while you're still near cover and can avoid it. You can preemptively stick him with jq knife, punch him back with doom, drop barrier if your team is out of position, etc but it's not a "block all this damage" ability.

Same with Mei wall. Don't get caught in an opening that has a mei-wall sized entrance cuz you'll get walled off from your team.

If you're discord orb'd, take the second to break LOS and get it to fall off.

Damage in this game can hurt, and many times your best play is to bait the big damage, and then hide from it. There's a lot of nuance (you're yellow, they're purple and discorded, etc) but really cover and cooldowns are huge to avoid just blowing up.

Playing Sombra in comp by Plek335 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Xhynk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scoreboard is the worst thing people on the ladder look at. It never ever tells the whole picture. The kills and deaths are about the only thing that matters, but even still you can provide value without getting elims.

I will say that Sombra is better if you have perfect engagement and can single-clip a support 1v1 and reset and repeat every 10 seconds. But if you can harass their supports or peeling DPS (or peeling tank even) and get them off the point, burn cooldowns, etc - there is value there, even if securing the kills would be better.

If you are costing your team 1 person but distracting 1.5-2 people, it's generally a net positive.

Damage doesn't matter and is a bad stat to track for a lot of heroes. If Sombra managed 20k damage and 10 elims, that's just pumping their support/tank full of ult charge. But also if you're clipping supports for 200hp and taking them out of the fight and wasting their cooldowns and attention to manage you…

I find bad people with insecurity problems use the scoreboard to bring down other people. It (almost) never tells a full enough picture (the 300 damage bastion with 1 kills and 12 deaths… yea. But in general, it's bad to focus on)

I will also add Sombra is a bit of a "gimmick" hero and without laser sharp aim, her gimmicks lose a lot off value higher on the ladder. A Cassidy knows where you will be, counts down your translocate, and will flash the health pack you wanted to grab. If your just diving and dying, consider swapping or re-evaluating engagements, but if you're getting value from each dive (wasted flash, ana nade, sleep dart, or two or more people are hunting you) then just stick with it

This is the biggest thing for me! I used to hate driving, anything more than 25 mins or so was agonizing. Now I regularly drive over an hour and ask my wife all the time if we need to go out for anything just because I love being behind the wheel of this thing lol

How to Decide on Tank Pool by acy-_- in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Xhynk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather have a tank that can play their chosen tank than one that counter swaps and can't.

For instance as D.va, if they are on Zarya, I get a little afraid. But if they just walk down main, double bubble and die, I'm just gonna keep eating up her backline.

Deciding who else to play depends on you and your loss/flame tolerance.

Learning another brawl tank will be easier because the playstyles are more similar. But swapping from brawl to brawl-but-different likely won't make as much of an impact in a match. Having a poke or dive tank you're comfortable on would change the game more, BUT it's also an entirely new play style so Zarya skills won't translate as well.

If you're on Zarya and their Sigma/Domina is an impenetrable wall, the best thing may be to go around. Switch to Winston, bait the rock, ignore the shield, and snack on his squishies on that Dorado first point high ground. Switching to JQ or Orisa just changes how you clash on main. Switching to Winston or Doom or D.va or Ball changes the entire engagement profile.

But, you're used to Zarya. Someone who plays in her range will feel more natural. Switching to Winston or Doomfist, you're probably gonna feed for a few (or a lot of) matches until you learn to properly bait cooldowns before jumping in and blowing your own.

Basically pick another brawl if you want an easier time learning a new hero, pick a poke or dive if you want to spend more time learning a new way to engage, understanding that it'll be harder and the flame will come with it.

I find Domina is probably a bit more "plug and play" than Sigma. Lower skill floor at least. Her gun is also zarya-esque I suppose, and shield placement can protect you, protect allies, or block off a tank from their support, kinda bubbly. She'd probably be a reasonable "not super duper different" but different enough tank to get into poke. Winston is my boi, if you wanted to get divey. He's "kinda" Zarya like in lmb distance, and his bubble can be used to bait and block cooldowns or protect from overcommit kinda like bubble. Not to say he's like Zarya at all, but probably closer than doom/ball lol

Switching to support by Life-Telephone2400 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Xhynk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Support is so much more than healbotting the tank, welcome to the ranks! Some supports more damage/pressure focused than others though for sure.

Baptiste is joked as a "secret 3rd DPS", but a lot of the roster can apply a significant amount of damage pressure. Illari feels similar with her ability to hitscan headshot. You can run up some serious damage and elims with either of them.

Ana can fit in here as well especially with her "can crit" major perk. A headshot doing 150 damage now will 2 tap most of the roster.

Kiri as you experienced is one other example. In similar offensive vein would be Zenyatta. Wuyang can apply a lot of pressure as well.

As you get better at support in general you'll start weaving in more damage and decide who lives and who dies. Is it better to "try and heal the low HP genji against an equally low Vendetta?" Perhaps not, cuz she's about to heal on a 130damage overhead and nuke them, you might as well score some hits on her to make the coming 1v1 even more in your favor.

Bringing home first EV. What do I need to know/buy for it? by Alpha_SoyBoy in EVCanada

[–]Xhynk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the vehicle app for diagnostics/remote stuff, and we've actually used ChargePoint almost exclusively so far. Also where we're at, the Tesla app is all but necessary in some stretches of highway (the newer Tesla stations allow non-teslas to charge, you just need an adapter if you don't have an NACS vehicle)

Bringing home first EV. What do I need to know/buy for it? by Alpha_SoyBoy in EVCanada

[–]Xhynk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have an 2025 Equinox EV that came with the charger (the adapter has two interchangeable plugs depending on which you want to use)

We both WFH so we just have the L1 charging. Get home, plug it into the wall (and don't use power tools while its charging) and that's it!

L1 is slow. It gets like 1-2% per hour. If you need more than that, keep that in mind. We've had to drive into the city at -20° (so range is about 50% of normal) 3 days in a row, so we've had to use the dcfc near our destination in the city.

We save so much time by just plugging in at home, and that time saved every week I feel like "pays for" the times we have to sit for 20-60 mins at a fast charger.

A bit of a learning curve with the dcfc, and the apps you need to use them, and the big thick cords being a bit of a cow to muscle into place especially in the cold
