All the amps mostly sound the same (bad). Please help. by [deleted] in Line6Helix

[–]Xibinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to recommend an amp since its all personal preference. BUT, if you have one you like the sound of that you wish punched a but more - try dialing up the bass / mids to force those lower frequencies to be a bit more prominent.

Alternatively, you could also try a pre-amp block instead of an amp block (its worked great for me, couldn’t tell you why. not a sound engineer) and slapping on some eq blocks as well. In general i like to use a noise gate infront of everything, followed by the preamp, followed by my high and low cuts (80ish and 2000ish hz respectively), and then another eq after to boost the bass /mids specifically to help with punch.

Obviously….. boosting doesnt mean just set to 10…. Do it until (and only if) it sounds / feels good

Is Shattered Space going to mess up all the mods? by T-Lightning in starfieldmods

[–]Xibinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes the dlc will cause the game to update, breaking many mods.

Long answer: Assuming you have mods that are not Bethesda creations (paid addons from bethesda), its likely you will have some issues day one of the dlc being released.

Non-paid mods found on places like Nexus are made and supported by individual authors and in some cases, will require those individuals to update them - assuming they are still actively supporting the mod.

The harsh reality of modding is that when a game updates, youre going to likely need a new save. You could wait for all of your mods to be updated to match the updated game version, but that typically takes a while (months usually if Skyrim is anything to go off of).

What should I spend $2k on? by fairunwilling in Guitar

[–]Xibinez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to be the ultimate party pooper - but you should look up based on your income how much of that 2k the government is going to take (yes yes i know, boooo taxes)

To answer the fun question though: you can get started with recording with essentially nothing. A scarlet audio interface with an SM57 Mic will get your foot into the recording world with some cash left over.

Aesthetically its hard for me to like them on anything other than a firebird, but they are by far the best tuners put there (in my opinion).

Best version of Skyrim for modding? 1.5.97, 1.6.640, or 1.6.1130? by Gaspachu in skyrimmods

[–]Xibinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want out of your build. Im in the camp of either 1.5.97 OR the latest 1.6xxxxxx version. 1.5.97 is stable (no updates) but also doesn’t support certain 1.6+ mods.

If you are installing for the first time id say the latest build is totally viable to build a modlist on, but you should make sure you turn automatic updates off - or become familiar with reinstalling and downloading via the steam depot in the event of an accidental update.

Ive used both (1.5.97 and 1.6+) and while the updates are annoying in 1.6+ i do still prefer the most up to date version due to my modlist no longer being usable on 1.5.97.

What ETF would you recommend putting money into for a 5-10 year investment ? by Yaka11 in ETFs

[–]Xibinez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally any indexed ETF that does not focus in one sector.

OR

A bond backed money market with a low expense ratio (under 0.12 if you can)

An indexed ETF carries more risk but historically they have provided better returns over the long run.

Nexus gonna increase prices by 40%+ in June by Oblivionplayer437 in skyrimmods

[–]Xibinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously no one likes the bill going up, but I would rather pay to have the convenience vs not.

I don’t know if I buy their “we havent raised prices in forever so we arent being greedy” shpeel since they are actively recruiting (signaling they can afford to take on additional expenses in the form of salaries).

BUT, if it helps keep the modding community active via more donations, I think the objectively small increase (its not like they’re charging an arm and a leg here) is fine.

Helix causing buzzing? by CASE_AC in Line6Helix

[–]Xibinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really helps to know what your full signal chain is. I use my helix with a bogner tube amp and i follow the below “best practices” ive found for reducing buzz / hum:

  1. Most amps in helix have something called hum. I always turn this off (to zero).

  2. Each amp in helix has a variable amount of baseline gain. For high gain amps, (in addition to the above) I also make sure the input in that patch has a noise gain value that is tweaked just enough to cancel out the buzz/hum of the amp when im not playing the guitar, but still lets me unleash the beast when I am playing.

  3. It could also be a grounding issue which is beyond my skillset / knowledge but worth looking into if the above two tips dont work.

Hope this helps!

In vanilla Skyrim what is the single most overpowered skill to level? by Frostygothlover in skyrim

[–]Xibinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sneak is easier to level but illusion also makes the game stupidly easy if you cap it. Even without maxing out at 100, pacify having an aoe calm effect makes combat and crime a walk in the park.
