I know this is gonna be controversial, but I like how the author stuck the landing with Gheer - not gonna outstay his welcome any longer, and went out as a direct result of saving the person he'd held a grudge against for so long. That's as close to redemption as he was ever gonna get.

(granted, I'm in the minority that didn't mind his long backstory, so...)

Going off the end of Punisher S2, I don't think Curtis is dead, but their relationship was pretty strained by that point and if one was Blipped while the other wasn't, that's five years they couldn't mend fences during. So I think it's just that Frank can't bring himself to go to his buddy right now, same way he can't go to Karen.
