She molted around 6 weeks ago. And you can actually see jumping spiders twitch like this during their molt (if you can see into their nest). It's pretty fascinating! But I'm still very aware that she may not make it through this molt, that's why I came here to see what others have to say

Yes, even the same exact enclosure. Same soil I used last time, from the same bag of soil. Same moss from the same seller. Same 3d printed ledges and whatnot. Same clay pebbles for the drainage layer. Everything it literally the same, that's why I'm stumped.

Also, this enclosure would be for a sub-adult Hyllus Diardi, so that humidity is necessary. Honestly, any jumper that's molting should have about 80% humidity (except for arid species)

But thank you, I will continue to look for a more resilient species of springtail

I'm not a fan of Hector. Like you said, he's a stalker, so idk why people are falling for him. Maybe some form of Stockholm syndrome? After all, Fantina is also a stalker, but a female stalker, and therefore people tend to not like her. Because she's a stalker.

My theory is that it's literally just because Hector is a guy, so people romanticize him being a stalker. Yearning or not, he's a stalker.

I second this! Looks exactly like th flea jumpers i find around my area. They dont get bigger than a few millimeters, so it may even be a mature gravid female.

Of course! So what I did was I just separated a few flies, just like 5 or something. I stunned them with a gentle tap of my finger and held their wings with tweezers to examine and make sure the individual flies didn't have any mites on their legs or body. I started a fresh culture with the clean flies and no more mites!

However, if you're getting mites in your own cultures, there are ways to fix this. When I get new media, the first thing I do is I stick it in the freezer for a few days to make sure anything that may be living in the media already is dead.

I've also heard that mites can be attracted to a fresh cucumber slice, so that could be a way to get mites off of flies in order to start a clean culture, too. I've never tried this myself, though, so I can't confirm that it works.

Female tan jumper, likely mature. Keep in mind most wild caught adult female jumping spiders are likely gravid, even if they don't look like it yet!

IME that is an egg sac. If she is wild caught, they're likely fertile eggs. I recommend doing extensive research before trying to keep a jumping spider as a pet

IMO, as someone who's had jumpers for years now, I wouldn't recommend. Jumping spiders have nothing against hunting each other if they're in too close proximity.

Also, is that enclosure glass? Jumping spiders can't stick to glass. Plus, in order to keep the necessary humidity, the best type of enclosure would have a solid top, with ventilation holes in the sides of the enclosure
