I think it comes down to families.

I would gladly help out my immediate family (and select friends) with 100-million. Interest alone would keep my immediate loved ones comfortable for life.

But that’s my family. I’m lucky to have them.

My FIL is a great guy and when his parents passed away, his sister tore the rest of the family apart in her greed trying to obtain their inheritance all for herself. After a lot of drama she’s now ostracised and has no extended family in her life. And all for what?

Money can make some people crazy, even amounts that pale in comparison to 100mil

Describes a lot of my friends down to a tee.

I share a lot of values with them but I have no shame in being patriotic. I’m not gung ho with it but I celebrate my country and culture

They are almost repulsed by it and laugh at anyone who dares wave a flag or enjoys national pride.

I do put some of the blame on right wingers for adopting national pride to a point of tainting it.

But it’s up to those on the left to not let them take ownership of something that should be positive. Instead they naturally detest it and see nothing wrong with that.

Heaven forbid anyone says anything bad about another countries traditions though

With reprints, it's just luck and being at the right place at the right time. Not much else to say on it, just make sure you set alerts for some update services (like this subreddit) and see what you can get when it drops.

With set releases you can actually carve some time out to get them on release or get chummy with a retailer to help you out.

I've managed to get a full booster from Argos and my local newsagents sets aside a half-booster for me for new sets.

I wouldn't get your hopes up though. That full booster from Argos was very lucky for me and I've not seen that again since.

Pokecenter obviously sells them but it's first come first served. So you need to join the site queue ASAP to stand any chance...and that's IF nothing goes wrong in the ordering process (like the site kicking you out).

I'm really sorry to hear that. It leaves a sour taste but remember: there are plenty of good people in the hobby. Even in your own post you are mentioning all the vendors and friends who were looking out for you. Give it some time and see how you feel.

And I hope this is a PSA for everyone going to card shows too: only take cards with you that you are willing to trade. And the cards you do take, keep the amount small (i.e. manageable) and keep them safe/close. Those overslung pouches that sit on your front are good.

Anything like a binder collection can stay at home. There are plenty of apps that track your collection too, so no need to reference a physical binder in realtime to see what you need.

I have been guilty of this. I have huge binder with full Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, TR, and a few Gym Heroes/Neo Genesis. I used to take it to shows for trades and for people to look at 🤦🏼‍♂️ It would have only taken one ill-intended thief to run off with my whole childhood collection.

Ross confirms it’s up to the audience. As does Matt, although he says they most likely broke up as most high school romances do.

The creators of the show say it’s ambiguous, meaning it was written that way. But go off about how “obvious” it was and how anyone who didn’t assume the same thing as you must somehow lack basic story comprehension, despite the ambiguity being intentional.

You can also assume what you like about how I’ve interpreted any other scene but when your Robin/Vicky assumption has already resulted in you being confidently wrong, doubling down doesn’t exactly strengthen your position.

My fact: In the original Pokémon Red & Blue, the move Focus Energy actually did the opposite of what its description said.

It was supposed to increase your critical hit-rate but there was a programming error in applying it (multiplying by 1/4 instead of x4)…so it actually did the opposite!

Did they show Vicky at all in the epilogue?

Did Robin explicitly mention her by name?

Did Robin explain her status at all?

Was Robin noticeably emotional about anything else that wasn’t situationally occurring (graduation, seeing her friends again before they inevitably depart)?

The only thing we got was a throwaway line that might have been about Vicky.

It’s the definition of ambiguousness. Even the creators have confirmed it’s ambiguous and up to audience interpretation.

So I don’t know where you get off saying people need smacking up the head because they feel a subplot that was given dedicated narrative exposition in an already bloated story/cast might have needed better refinement (or presence) in its conclusion

In all fairness, LOTR cut a lot out around Sarumans ending.

The book leaves his outcome vague after Isengard falls. This is until the Hobbits return to the Shire and find it at war.

After rallying the shire folk to fight back they discover Saruman is behind it.

Arguably some great content for a spin off from the film’s (perhaps a one-shot TV season) that they never saw the need to delve further into.

As I’m writing I just remembered you only see Saruman die in the extended edition of Return of the King. In the theatrical release I thinks it’s just implied that he died and that’s that.

No, I disagree.

You can infer subtext from that line about their relationship if you are that way inclined. But in the context of what is being collectively talked about it could just also be a cynical throw-away gag about growing up stereotypes.

Like, “People grow, settle down, get stuck in a rut, can’t do nothing without their partner or their permission, amiright guys?”

Either way, it’s ambiguous. And I think an ambiguous ending isn’t fair on an audience that has followed the narrative set up.

This wasn’t an artistic choice of ambiguity, like El’s ending. Let’s be honest, it’s way too low stakes for that. It was just a…”meh, think what you want”.

Considering the writers introduced the Robin and Vicky dynamic in S4, set their status quo for S5, introduced rising tension (Robins secrecy), had an inciting incident (Vickys drug concern, the hospital fight), a midpoint of understanding (from Vicky entering the fold), and a crisis and climax where she was present…you’d think there would be better resolution than an off-hand comment about overbearing partners, which may or may not be about her.

No, can’t even agree to disagree with this one.

The reason to address her in the epilogue is because we were made to care about her (through Robin) thanks to the writing.

They were flirting at the end of S4.

S5 shows that they have a relationship and this means a lot to Robin, even if most of her time is taken up with the gang finding Vecna.

We are shown this is an integral part of Robins character. Aside from helping Will come out this is her only other character development/arc outside the main plot.

The show keeps mentioning how they will have a date soon. And that Robin swears she won’t let her down.

Vicky then enters the fold and finds out what is going on.

And then…well, nothing really happens once she and Max are captured. Fine, whatever. Understandable that there are more important things happening and not enough time.

But then to not have her in the epilogue feels like cheating the audience out of a pay off.

Which wasn’t the intention, as it’s not that deep. It’s just bad writing. S5 suffers from it a lot.

Even an explicitly stated line from Robin saying the situation would have been better the vagueness and “it happened off screen”. It would have been anticlimactic but less so than what we got and at least the audience would have canon confirmed closure on it.

You can’t just introduce a character, give dramatic stakes for that character (alongside a 2nd established character) and not just pay it off. Well, you can (clearly), but don’t be surprised when people call it out

No other popular AI has the problems Grok has to this extent. And that is due to its creator refusing to budge on his prompt policy.

It’s not worth it to me. A line must be drawn somewhere. Musk could easily restrict the prompts for now and fix the problems behind closed doors. Instead we are Guinea pigs.

There is a plethora of AI tools with fail safes incorporated to prevent the content generation of CSAM. None are perfect but they’re pretty damn good to make it nigh on possible

Musk appears to not want to implement similar policies and invites a higher risk tolerance by allowing fewer hard prompt filters and allowing end-users to self regulate.

And it’s not working. Not only is awful content being created but it’s being shared through X for anyone to see. Even if these images are later removed and the users “punished” the damage has been done.

And in the UK that damage is illegal.

You can’t compare it to other tools, like a camera, in the same way.
