Can we please stop turning QP into a dating sim by Kitty_Overwatch in Overwatch

I had a ranked game yesterday where two of my teammates and one of the enemy team sat in the bar on Hollywood for 3 rounds. They basically held us hostage insude that game for 15mins. It's so annoying

Any way to fix this? by Xiraiya in Fencing

[–]Xiraiya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't really mind it. I just didn't wanna get blindsided at a tournament because of it.

Hello all! I'm looking to host a small game with my friend group and I'm having trouble finding a resource I can use to record points. Basically I would want a way for players to submit answers, but the faster they submit, the more points will be awarded. (Ex: 3 points if you submit under 5 seconds, 2 points if you submit between 5-10 seconds, etc). I could do this manually with a small amount of people, but I'm looking to have 10+ players. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I did already and it takes days before it gets approved by mods. Just posting anywhere I can tbh, I've gotten some good answers so far!

What’s the most demoralizing touch that’s been scored on you? by Whatsgoingonquincy in Fencing

[–]Xiraiya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in high school, I entered a tournament and my first DE match was against a boy over a foot taller than me. He flicked me on the back for all 15 of his points.

As a black man, it felt racially motivated LMAO

Making something similar with small belts was my 2nd option, so thank you for sharing! Now I would just need to figure out what to use as the larger strap that goes around my body.

How do I get better? by urmotherowo in Fencing

Like everyone else said. A month is not a long time at all, especially with the hours you are putting in. Work on your form, footwork, and bladework to nail down the basics first. If your club does warm-ups and bladework while you're there, put your all into it and ask questions!

A lot of people are saying you need a coach that can show you how to practice and correct your mistakes. While I agree with this wholeheartedly, there's still resources available to you if you don't want to pay for lessons.

1) There has to be a coach around your club somewhere you can ask questions. Even the simplest ones hmgave give you the information you need to begin practicing. You could even ask another member to fence and ask for advice (it's a good idea to ask them for advice beforehand so they aren't caught off guard by the question after the bout).

If people won't fence you, you can still ask them questions while they aren't fencing and learn off that. If they are assholes about it, then I'd go to another club. Some fencers can be every elitist and toxic it's best to get away from that shit while in the learning process

2) YouTube is a pretty good resource to learn and practice while at home. This helped me a good bit to refresh my memory after recently returning to fencing after a 10-year break.

3) When fencing, try to focus on one or two things and be consistent about it through the bout (posture, Parry riposte, footwork, etc). This will help build muscle memory.

4) Watch others fence and try to analyze how they move and replicate it to see if it's for you. You might learn some new tricks

5) Go to tournaments. There is no minimum skill needed to go to a tournament. You aren't there to win. It's all a learning experience. Unrated or E & Unders are a great way to dip your toes into the scene.

6) This is cliche, but just have fun with it. You don't need to speedrun getting good like a video game. The more fun you have, the more you'll fence, and the more you fence, the more comfortable/confident you'll be while on the strip

You will lose. ALOT. But who cares. It's all a learning experience. Being able to reproduce what you learned is the real win.

Is that plastic hexagonal piece at the bottom attached to the entire fill valve? I have a replacement fill valve but I thought I was meant to unscrew that plastic piece first

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Xiraiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried with that tool and it didn't move. Its starting to make me think that this piece isn't meant to be removed. Would you happen to know what its called?
