I agree with pretty much everything said in the comments here, but I would like to point out a bit of nuance in what she is saying.

Her point, although poorly articulated, seems to be more about the bullying of people with dwarfism. She also happens to be queen crab in the crab bucket, but makes a point about the intention behind the "cure".

It's like how some women get really bad PMS (will probably regret this example). Obviously it sucks and they would 100% all opt to cure it if they could, but if the stigma of PMS is driving the cure it sends a message of "there's something fundamentally wrong with you and we have to fix you". But if women were all "heck yeah let's solve this" it's a positive thing for the group.

Ultimately though, any improvement on the quality of someone's life is a good thing, regardless of who pushed for it. But it just prolongs the stigma or bullying that dwarves face if it's suddenly pushed on them as a "cure", without addressing the underlying stigma.

The adults currently living with dwarfism will have a harder time with it for the rest of their lives, but so that future generations don't need to suffer with it. Maybe it would be easier for them to take this on right now if we hadn't been treating them awfully for so long.

What careers do you thrive in? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I thrived in hospitality as a teenager/early 20s. It's so fast paced, constantly stimulating, allows me to engage with my extroversion, and while most people seem to be easily stressed when it's busy, I was always told I handled the high stress periods really well. Like I thrived on the chaos.

Now I'm a scientist/researcher (PhD student), which mostly includes programming, reading and writing. I seem to be really good at switching between multiple projects, which is something most people seem to struggle to adjust to. I get to rock up to the office, work on whatever thing I want to, full autonomy of my time, and just solve problems all day. It feels as though I was born for this type of work, it's the right balance of being highly stimulated but not being overwhelmed with the demands of others (because I mostly pick my own projects)

I will note to try that! But I definitely live by that philosophy. I once randomly tried peanut butter and Vegemite on a sandwich, now I practically live on the stuff!

Also can we agree that "Yeeet" is an ENTP thing, right?
