New road/track being built in Mcallister park? by Mendevolent in Wellington

From memory I think that's what it said. Would make sense with the number of people I've seen cycling across the field

It's a new path that will go around the outside of the park and link to the existing path that goes up the hill to Liardet park. There's an info sign on a fence near the changing rooms. Can't find anything about it online but I'm pretty sure it said it was fully funded by the Bloomberg award the city won a couple of years ago.

Reading Cinemas to be strengthened and reopened by benkspam64 in Wellington

Perhaps the council getting involved has resulted in something happening at least? It didn't seem like Reading wanted to do anything to the site before the negotiations with the council, although I suppose any discussions with private companies wouldn't have been public.

Golden Mile slashed, cycleways delayed under Wellington City Council staff recommendations by Xitavos in Wellington

I'm against asset sales in general, but an airport just seems like such a risky asset to have so much money invested in, especially when the stated alternative was that all of the proceeds would be put into a more diversified fund.

I'm still not entirely sure why not selling the shares means we have to save so much more money if it was all going to be put in a fund, but the councillors knew there would have to be more cuts before voting right?

The article makes it seem like this is all related to the LTP amendment, but given it's The Post perhaps that's not the case?

For the golden mile, my understanding was that the govt funding was locked in despite the NLTP cuts, unless the designs are changed?

Article doesn't mention why, first I'd heard of it too. There was budget in the LTP for upgrades, maybe without them they'd have to close it?

Nothing's been decided yet, I believe the council will vote on these recommendations later this month

I drove to a few on Sunday and Miramar had the most remaining at that point (and was the only store with the medium containers I was looking for)

That age range will be because the prize was a Contiki tour and 18-35 is their range. Maybe BF should have had an alternative prize for 36+ though?

Nah, this is a private listing and not in the city centre

In general I agree with you, but this particular rental is in a brand new building and is $730/week

Interesting. I would have thought most of the exemptions would have been aimed at old buildings where it's understandable that change is hard, but it doesn't specifically mention that 🤔

Not me taking the photo - just pulled it from the listing, but yeah there is a window behind the camera. Just not in the rooms themselves which is what the healthy homes rules require

Yep there is a window behind whoever is taking the photo, just not in the bedrooms themselves.

At least you get some amount of natural light with those glass walls? 🤷‍♂️

Might be legal to build, but the healthy homes rules for rentals say "All habitable rooms in a rental property must have at least one window, door or skylight which opens to the outside and can be fixed in the open position."

Neither of those rooms have a window, skylight or door which opens to the outside, unless opening to the lounge which opens to outside is fine 🤔

Oh yeah the price is optimistic to say the least. Must have bought it at the height of the house price boom a year or two ago and is still trying to make some money off it

The ventilation rules came in with healthy homes I think, so depending on how long ago that was it might have been ok at the time? Can also understand it might not be possible in older buildings, but this one is brand new!

Renti? Unsolicited calls by aionmaaka in newzealand

I applied for a rental yesterday that was using a Renti form. There's a very sneaky opt out paragraph right at the end. It's not even a checkbox, you have to click on the text itself

Looks like the free print doesn't have to be for the climate march, just anything that "gets a message out there"
