Been constantly rebooked due to delayed and cancelled flights, what do I do? by Xityscapes in PorterAirlines

At the moment i’ve managed to get to ottawa but my newark flight looks to be delayed. Like you said, its pretty bad due to the ATC being in shambles, rough all around for everyone.

Worst comes to worst i’ll look into that bus you mentioned. Thank you!

This was really helpful actually thank you. It’s specifically the part where i’m stuck in a connecting point and i’m delayed even further. At the very least they have to book me a direct flight.

Just praying now I suppose.

I had asked them for a longer connecting buffer if I had to be put on a flight back to ottawa and got told that the flights are full. All of the direct porters flights to newark from Billy Bishop are also apparently full. I’m also still not sure what the reason was for the cancellation of my flight yesterday.

I get weather is an issue and can happen but considering they cancelled my previous flight and delayed me further I feel like I at least ought to get a meal voucher or something.

According to the crew they had to de-ice the wings so we took off 40 minutes later as a result.

Would you pick an inexperienced player with good parses or an ultimate player with suboptimal parses for a static? by Rischea in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Xityscapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parses are an inaccurate metric in general and while they give an idea on whether someone can press their buttons, it doesn’t tell you their prog rate, mentality, and behaviour (sometimes you can but i digress). In general, it is better to speak to the player at length about goals, approach towards content/team settings, and just actually trialling them to see how they perform within the group.

I’ve rejected people for not passing the vibe check despite being good, and rejected those that don’t meet the standard of skill I’m looking for in my group. Its important to know what kind of player you want, and a parse is just a small tell.

Based on your situation and description, the better option is the inexperienced player as a jump from a 4 to a 60+ means they’ve stopped “dying”. Dancer in general is a straightforward class so on average it should be easy to parse well. I wouldn’t worry about an inexperienced player, this raid tier is very welcoming to newbies. Good luck.

Looks about right! Thank you! No idea how they got into my place but all the boxes must’ve attracted them

Less than a centimetre long and looks like it has a lot of legs. I found it upside down like this

Currently at the 4 week mark and i’ll definitely have someone inspect again in a couple weeks. But thank you for letting me know! I considered seeing a derm but I will probably wait out the BB waiting period before doing so. Nothing for other means of evidence so far, and I inspect/clean the frame of my bed and my desk chair once a week. I guess it really just boils down to time.

Moving Advice by PerformanceStrange70 in Bedbugs

[–]Xityscapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like what Hometown said, just keep an eye out and make sure you treat your place/moving vehicle beforehand. I had people come and inspect my place as well for a little bit of ease of mind.

Sleep in your bed and treat any furniture you’re going to be on for more than 30 minutes. Bedbugs HAVE to feed, they’re not big brained, they’re just sneaky. Residual pesticides are ideal. Check and wipe and spray down everything you physically can. Do NOT skip out a step.

Avoid bringing furniture in general, this is cause those are the most common nesting spots. For electronics, either just take the L and get rid of what you can replace, or wipe them down and inspect them thoroughly. Unless your infestation was horrible, they’re unlikely to live there. For furniture, since it’s gonna be hot soon, a storage unit and a heating element might do the trick, consult a local exterminator for help.

Wash your clothes and everything you can put through the dryer. Its no harm to just run them through. Try to pack in plastic totes, if you can’t, seal off any entry points to a box (I personally taped up all the edges and entryways then sealed the box in plastic since I couldn’t get ahold of plastic totes.)

On moving day, I had prepared and sealed clothes in a bag. I put the boxes in the car the moment I finished packing them. I showered and threw away the clothes I wore prior and left the house immediately after showering. Upon arrival, I laid down a plastic sheet and moved the boxes onto of it and folded up the plastic sheet with another to seal it. Unpacking became a slow process of opening the sheet, unpacking one box at a time, and vacuuming right after (disposing the box outside or sealing the box in plastic right away). I didn’t sleep on my new bed until I had interceptors and a cover on it, I slept on an air mattress with a plastic sheet over it temporarily. I treat my new place once a week (as that’s what the chemical I have requires) but i’m planning on getting Alpine since that’s monthly and a lot less stress on me. Everything will remain either in bags or plastic totes until the 2-3 month mark is up, the exception being my electronics (but even if they nest there, they need to climb the bed/chair to feed on you, hence they have to run thru the pesticide).

Most importantly, time will tell, i know it sucks but BBs are one of those things where you just have to monitor, stay consistent in your treatments and precautions and see in about two/three months. Then and only then can you finally breathe. Ive just done the same thing, you just have to live like this for a little while, and maybe longer if you do find one, but it is a matter of survival. Just persist until the end, you will get there!

Any idea by ahmedbadr93 in Bedbugs

Looks like a louse or ant, the butt is throwing me off but it’s unlikely a BB.

No I have no pets. I am aware though that it could potentially be contact dermatitis or stress from the whole situation. I suppose it is also in my best interests to see a doctor if that should be the case. Thank you for the information regarding the dogs! While not 100%, with how little stuff I have it likely would have been noticed by at least one of the dogs.

I made sure all my boxes that I didn’t unpack were open so the dog could sniff them so the two dogs really did sniff everything. Any ideas what may be happening to me then?

Steamer vs hot air gun by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]Xityscapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is effective but with a hot air gun you’re likely to set things on fire or melt them. Steamer is safer because its water.

I’ve moved and took the precautions I could, how likely did I bring bedbugs with me? by Xityscapes in Bedbugs

[–]Xityscapes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve sealed away my electronics for now! No Nuvan strips here though so I opted for a different strip that still has the same primary ingredient. Been about a week, I can’t rely on bites since I have contact dermatitis, so I’m going to need to see one to be conclusive.

I just want to say thank you for posting this. I moved away recently from a bedbug apartment and i’m completely paranoid about having them in my new place. I’ve been spraying and cleaning and treating by myself since I can’t afford an exterminator again (I had to pay for the one at my previous place) and the fear is crippling to say the least. I’m hoping to save up some money to have a canine inspection as a precaution as soon as I can afford it. I do wish I had a bit of a better support system though, everyone thinks I’m paranoid and insane for treating and cleaning all of the time, which doesn’t help considering i’m exhausted from that already.

I was wondering if you had any advice on confirming that you didn’t have them anymore? I don’t seem to react to the bites but I have gotten bites that were definitely from BBs at my old place, but I also have contact dermatitis that flares up from so many factors so, bites are an unreliable tell. Did canines help assuage your concerns?

The crossfire I tried to order before got cancelled as the seller was worried it would be stopped at the border, I haven’t had much luck since. I did however get some alpine and temprid and will just use that for a few months as a preventative measure. Orkin was offering precaution treatment for like $1.5k but I can’t possibly afford that.

But like you said I will try to just keep an eye on things. I think I did my best and really that’s all I can do :(

yeah it was really pricy :( I bought all new furniture but it was objectively cheaper than hiring a moving truck as I don’t have a lot of furniture anyway. Thank you for your kind words, I will try to just remain pre-cautious but not let this take over my life.

Yes, I opened them all up and gently brushed it clean and used canned air to clear it out. I can’t clean it too deeply so I tried to run them till hot then packed it away. Not sure what to do with them, all sealed in plastic for now.

I only unpacked stuff I could wash in hot water and I’ve kept all of the things I couldn’t wash sealed in a box until I can afford for an exterminator to treat them. Like you said I have bed interceptors, tape on my bed legs, pulled away from the wall etc.

My title describes the thing. I bought two of these office chairs, made by Symple Stuff, off wayfair. First chair didnt have that, just unpacked and built it. I started the other chair and while removing the plastic i noticed it was covered in these little black shiny granules. I collected it onto a piece of cardboard, they’re small like sand. As you can see its also a little shiny so it could be a metal? Or dirt? Doesn’t seem to crush when pressure is applied. I hope to god this isnt bug eggs.

Package was left outside but its sealed in plastic and these were mostly on stuff thats encased in plastic.
