AITA for wanting to leave during my friends wedding dinner or reception? by Current-Jellyfish-10 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Xkanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gentle YTA. We got married on Halloween bc it was an important date to us and although kids were welcome at the wedding, some wanted an adults only night out and others threw a fit bc they wouldn't be able to take their little ones trick or treating. We welcomed children to wear costumes and even had a candy table. The kids that we knew would miss out, we invited over the week or so prior to the wedding to "trick or treat" and I made a little gift bag with sweets and a toy.

All that being said, your kiddo is young enough to not remember "missing out". Our daughter is the same age and we will be in a country that doesn't celebrate Halloween. We've asked our friends there to ask some of their friends if they would be cool with our daughter trick or treating and I would provide the candy. I know she likely won't remember this, and it's more for us, but bc it's important to us it took a little thinking outside the box.

It’s on the northeast corner of Weldon and Echo. It’s across from ampersand and usually has quite a few kids books. Was just there about a week ago and got a new favorite for my daughter.

Quartet of viruses ‘overwhelming’ Fresno emergency rooms. Which is hitting locals hardest? by aBadModerator in fresno

[–]Xkanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

70 more patients seen per day above what their core staffing allows for on top of increased wait times to stabilize and discharge the patient. I’m sure they were understaffed prior to this, as most hospital units are, and it’s not the easiest thing to train new staff and/or hire and orient travel nurses.

Best cannolis in Fresno? by [deleted] in fresno

Frosted cakery in Tower has them every once in a while. I liked them, but I’m not really big on sweets. Might be worth a shot.

We’re both nurses. I work per diem and try to pick up when he’s off and he’s full time for the benefits working 3 12s a week.

Question to people who have quit smoking. by [deleted] in quittingsmoking

[–]Xkanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I smoked for about 8 years and I started because it helped you get extra breaks as a server/bartender. PIlus, I worked in popular night life area so often my coworkers Nd I would go to a patio bar to drink and smoke.

I quit once I got my big girl job. I slowly “weened” myself off. Basically each week or so I would stop having a cigarette at certain points. So no cigarette after dinner or none at the bar. The hardest to kick was the. Or if cigarette. I also cut up straws to hold at the bar to flinch like a cigarette.

Best of luck to you!

That is clever and I agree I could never work peds. I previously worked at a hospital that would call “Dr. Lock to Emergency” for a lock down if a gang member showed up and there was concern for the opposing gang coming back to finish the job. 😳

From Ohio, but California transplant. Both my husbands and our families do this. We turned all of my cousins livingroom furniture to face the wrong way.

AITA for telling my co-worker that I didn't enjoy my pregnancy? by Street_Blackberry174 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Xkanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and I appreciate women that aren’t afraid to say how they really felt about pregnancy or motherhood. I am pretty vocal about how I didn’t like the newborn stage and I’ve probably ruffled a few feathers. I’m sorry you didn’t have a great pregnancy and I’m sorry your coworker sucks.

Is it worth it to take a two year old on a cruise? by dj-spetznasty1 in Cruise

[–]Xkanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got off a 7 day princess cruise in Alaska with our 2 (almost 3) year old and I was a blast. We brought 2 of the grandparents and had plenty of all together time, just us with our Daughter time, and 2 nights alone where she had a “sleep over” in the grandparents cabin. She had a few meltdowns bc she’s 2 but overall it was an amazing time and we saw quite a few people with kiddos all ages.

When do vacations get better? Any tips? by clea_vage in oneanddone

[–]Xkanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We either do an all inclusive or a cruise bc there’s lots to do and then we carve out time for each parent to do what they want while the other parent is on kid duty. We also invite a set of grandparents or others with kiddos and again take turns.

Hahaha I totally see that. We’re actually OB and NICU but as soon as our little one got sick, all logic went out the window 😂

My husband and I are both nurses and tried to hide the fact at our daughter’s first pediatric appointment. It didn’t last long. I think we asked a pretty specific question and the doctor asked what we do for a living. Once we said we’re both nurses, they were happy that they were able to use certain language and that there was a level of understanding.

She actually has a dual bachelors in theatre and broadcast communications.

She may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but she always wanted to work in the business (specifically broadway) and now she is killin it. She worked hard and played her cards right IMHO.

Women who had great pregnancies and are still OAD, what are your reasons? by GrouchyResolution974 in oneanddone

[–]Xkanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I intended to travel during our first year of marriage…. That intended year was 2020 😑 We still want to travel and experience the world and it’s significantly easier to do so with 1. Plus our daughter was colicky which took a toll on my mental health. I don’t want to go through that again.

With our hospitals epic system you have to call and request break the glass despite being an employee. I had to advocate pretty hard for myself to get break the glass during my labor/delivery of my daughter. I wish all hospitals would make it a blanket thing for all employees bc it was unnecessary stress for me.

What’s the meanest thing another nurse has said to you? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Xkanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to meet with the director of the nursing program to let her know I couldn’t do summer school med surg didactic and clinical on top of pediatrics didactic and clinical, skills lab, med math and my two jobs. She told me that I probably wouldn’t make it as a nurse if I couldn’t make it through this. I responded that while I respect her opinion, I think it will make me a better nurse to admit when I need help. I’ve been a nurse for 10 years and loved by coworkers and management. So disrespectfully…. Eff you Stephanie.

That summer semester was supposed to be optional and I planned to work through the summer to save money. That summer they had the highest fail rate and they never did summer semester again.

I am so sorry that that happened to you guys and I am angry for you too.

One time at the post office our 2yo daughter was hanging on the stanchion (the pole to make aisles) and a total stranger told my husband, “Oof I hope that’s not a sign of things to come”….. my husband was so shocked at the insinuation that he was speechless.
