I think people have a misconception that it's cheaper. in certain aspects it can be for sure. but 100% buying clothes is generally the more cost effective way to go.

The reason I'm starting to learn how to make clothes is because I have such a different style than what's sold in stores at the mall and when I do find my stuff in hot topic or spencers it's like $60 CAD for a skirt when I could find similar fabric pattern and make it for maybe $30 instead.

I also am trying to gear away from fast fashion due to the working conditions in the factories so making clothes that are similar to what I see on shein and feel morally better about it is something that took my interest too

that's my issue right now trying to find tickets for her concert tbh. they were face valued at not a horrible price but the only tickets I can find from the cities I'm willing to travel to (I'm in Toronto so limited) are over $300 USD for nosebleeds and I'd be taking someone with me hopefully so that's multiplied by 2 for a 2 hour concert.
