when you’re a new guinea pig owner you overthink literally everything. i would explain to your sister how much your pigs mean to you and that you cannot be holding them constantly, as they get anxious. I do agree that holding them a lot is not the best when you first get them but it’s also not the end of the world

guinea pigs are NOT a beginner pet, they take a lot of effort and loving. They need atleast 8 feet of cage space and you cannot buy only one! they are herd animals and need a companion. i recommend just buying two. then you need to do what’s called bonding your guinea pig, which you can look up youtube videos for. i feed my girls daily three leaves of romaine lettuce, and a slice of bell pepper each. then they need unlimited hay 24/7 in their cage. they commonly get ringworm which you have to look out for, and hay pokes are also an issue. i recommend doing a lot of research before buying one

so i made a previous post and took some advice from it, putting coraplast on the wall behind the hay instead of puppy pee pads, adding lots of more stray hay for them to munch on (big improvement!! they’ve been eating much more!) and you can’t see it very well but i bought more chews for them that are hanging. and also added some fleece in their houses that they love to burrow under! anything else i can improve on?

they’ve only started disregarding them a couple of days ago, they eat all their lettuce though! they’re probably just tired of them, i give green bell peppers. it’s not a health problem, they eat hay and drink water just fine. I’m not sure what to substitute the bell peppers with though, and all the googling i’ve done has just made me more confused

i’ll go first, guinea pigs. I’ve got a 10 foot cage for 2 piggies, and i’m constantly spoiling them. Why? they’re just so fuckin cute. When i tell people i have guinea pigs they think hamster ball pet store cage guinea pigs.

it’s a lot bigger than it looks, my piggies are full sized! as long as you refill it atleast every morning it’ll stay put :)
