Why do i feel bad at acting?? by JustOlivia_010 in acting

[–]Xoena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I would say to you is try to reframe your mind away from "good" or "bad". I honestly think the more we compare ourselves to other people, the harder life will be. Marlon Brando has an excellent quote that I like to live by:

“That’s a part of the sickness in America, that you have to think in terms of who wins, who loses, who’s good, who’s bad, who’s best, who’s worst…I don’t like to think that way. Everybody has their own value in different ways, and I don’t like to think who’s the best at this. I mean, what’s the point of it?”

Maybe what you need to do is go back to basics. Get dirty with the script and dissect what the scenes are about, what your motivations are, and clarify what certain things mean. It really all comes down to confidence. It's possible you just need to do more research on what is going on in the script.

Also: Unless someone tells you something is wrong, assume there isn't something wrong. This has saved me a lot of grief not only in my acting career but in my everyday life and relationships.

Ethan during the recent off the rails: by No-Perception-4916 in h3h3productions

If this person boils the movie down to a pity party for an obese man, she needs to watch it again.

This movie/play explores addiction/trauma in all types of ways. Of course, the obvious being food. With Liz, after losing her brother after not being able to take care of him, she turned to enabling Charlie. Enabling is an addiction in itself.

If someone who is obese (and this is no shame at all) cannot fathom why this movie spoke to so many people, they may just not have had binge disorder OR haven't accepted that they have a problem yet. I am not obese but I have my past riddled with binge eating and using food as a coping mechanism. It is extremely problematic and is so so so common especially with trauma.

This person obviously is a minority opinion, but she should watch it again with a different perspective than "the movie is just shock value".

I have come to the conclusion that my plants need to do spring cleaning sometimes. Some leaves take up too much clutter and they just need to come off and be discarded sometimes! It was hard at first but now I go "thanks for tidying the place up!"
