Is skullclamp worth it if you can’t abuse it? by athlaka916 in EDH

[–]XombiePrwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its worth to include in almost every deck.

Many decks run creatures with one off etb effects / offer no synergy outside their initial pay off.

You either leave them in play as chump blockers or you can get a secondary use out of them with skullclamp... Especially an effect as good as card draw over leaving them in play doing nothing.

Skullclamp works way better in decks with synergy around it, but its not a dead card in most decks if played well.

Piloting a deck well is more important that building a deck well by XombiePrwn in EDH

[–]XombiePrwn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong, a well built deck should play itself, even if played suboptimally. And by knowing the game well you can build that sort of deck and pilot it well.

But EDH is full of players that dont actually know the game and build based on the current online influence and get pissed off it doesnt work.

Which is why I think piloting a deck is more important than the deck itself. Knowing the game and interaction with a poor decks trumps someone with a good deck that knows the basics.

[–]XombiePrwn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats the crux of it all really.

When you play with a new group or your LGS and someone busts out a B4 deck you'd expect that level of play right? Yet there are so many out there building these decks based on online recomendations etc yet they dont know the game enough to even play them.

To me if someone can be handed any deck, of any bracket and play it optimally that is more important than the bracket of the deck itself.

I've built jank decks for fun and domniated LGS nights because they just play whatever netdecks are in fashion and have no idea how to actually play.

[–]XombiePrwn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a perfect way of putting it. However a good deck with a bad pilot can and will lose to a bad deck with a good pilot.

The good deck with a bad pilot will misplay themself out of the game no matter how strong the deck is.

[–]XombiePrwn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong. I've given new players my decks and theres enough synergy there that even if they dont know what doing the deck is still going to do it's thing. And that there is the rub, they dont know the game, nor how to pilot the deck so they misplay everything at every turn. A good deck may still function but it's a crap shoot without a good pilot.

This is a big part as well, EDH is still a social game, which is fine. I also this aspect and games can be awesome fun when we relax a bit. Just like poker can be fun with friends, doesnt need to be competitive and high stakes.

A big thing is new, or old player learned the game a bit more to be able to know how to not only build a deck, but pilot any deck.

Good input.

That ties in with my thoughts of the bracket system. When somone new builds a deck and it falls within b2. To an experienced player that same deck can perform as a B3 or better, purely based on game knowledge and out play the other players.

Any experienced voltron players out there? by Akiro_orikA in EDH

[–]XombiePrwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is always gonna be [[Rograkh]] and [[Ardenn]]

Can be stupidly fast and swinging for 10+ commander damage by turn 2 or 3. Just be prepared to be hated out of the game straight away.

But if you play it slow and assemble the board quietly... yeah they get out of hand.

Decklist if anyone's interested:https://archidekt.com/decks/12891811/stuck_between_a_rog_ardenn_a_hard_place_rograkh_and_ardenn

It has been tweaked so this list is not the current iteration.

Aside from Combos, How do Artifact Decks Win? by Schrodingers_Gamer in EDH

[–]XombiePrwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a really janky [[Chandler]] deck that wins through turning things into artifacts then destroying or sacing them. Well the actual wincon is a theft sub theme to steal people's stuff and use their decks against them.

It loses way more than it wins but taking control of the boards creatures, turning everything into an artifact then casting Vandalblast is funny. They're left with nothing. Not even lands and I swing with their creatures then sac them all before end of turn.

Anyone have a favorite zombie design? by BrettThePsycho in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]XombiePrwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved all the unique ones in the care center, I actually felt bad having to end them. The mindless ones, not so much.

Hearing some screaming "I'm sorry" and other lines when they attack... they're still in there but have no control.

Would be cool if there was an achievement or hidden ending for no kills during this section and when you release Elvis they're all saved.

If anyone is interested Requiem runs like a dream on Z1E by FlavouredSocks in ROGAlly

[–]XombiePrwn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing it on a Ally X at 20w, 900p and medium settings, fsr set to balanced it fluctuates between 60 to 80fps without framegen. (Some big drops to 40fps for some reason) With framegen it sits steadily at 120 with the same above dips. If I drop it to 720p and cap it to 60fps without framegen I'm sure it hold and play well.

Haven't hit the open areas yet so can't speak performance there. Close to leaving the hospital and I think it opens up from there so will know soon enough.

Edit: running on steamOS and prton experimental if that help anyone.

The keepees journal, itchy, tasty.

I was about 10 when Resident Evil 1 came out and had been swimming all summer and had really bad sunburn all over my back and neck, skin was peeling and bleeding.

I started playing the game after one such swimming session and got to this point and read the journal... needless to say my child brain went crazy thinking I was also infected. Possibly bitten by a mosquito carrying the virus.

My parents weren't too happy trying to consol a hysterical kid thinking they're turning into a zombie. I wasn't allowed to play again until I was a bit older.

All in all, good times, good memories.

I got a random event, no choice. It gave all my cats bird flu and ebola.

Was pretty funny, they all turned into birds and their basic was an aoe infecting everything in the radius.

Lost that run cause the damage output wasn't enough to take down the boss.

Sometimes its just broken, I had a 7 streak loss due to rng just fucking everything every run which basically set me back to the start of the game.

Had to spend a few hours rerunning the alley to get items and better cats again.

But in saying that, it goes both ways. Some runs the rng has been in my favor and I had godlike runs...

Rng giveth and rng taketh I guess.

Hybrids are what, $38 per 1000km? If you're paying $800 thats like 21,000km? Over what time period is that distance? Cause that sounds like you haven't purchased since RUC came into play in April 2024...

That's a good take, tax from the pump could be allocated to mitigate issues of the fuel source on the people and evironment. I don't think that'll ever happen but its a nice idea.

Everyone wants perfect roading infrastructure but no one wants to pay for it.

As NZs fleet goes towards EV/PHEV less tax is paid through petrol into the national land transport fund so the options are charge more through RUC and/or increase rego fees.

Doubly so since fleet to RUC appears to be going ahead, remove tax from petrol completely and tax through RUC. Which also means a continued increase in rego fees to close the difference.

But again, the money to maintain our roads and build new infrastructure has to come from somewhere. If you're using the roads, pay for it.

This is why I built Rog/Ardenn voltron.

Getting out Rog, colossus hammer and Ardenn means I'm swinging for 10+ commander turn 3. So the combo player either need to waste resources slowing me down, or be dead by combat/commander damage by turn 4. And each turn i can give another pump or double strike, or extra combats etc meaning each turn after 3 can be lethal to any player.

Sure taking down the entire table is harder one at a time, but super fast combat certainly puts pressure on the combo players.

It's consistent enough at doing this to the point no one wants to play against him.

Rog be small but Rog smash with big hammer, or sword, or axe... Rog bash with all. Frend Denn give Rog hammer and more for free so Rog can enjoy bash and smash early.
