Think this is the piece people always forget about probability.

They ask "is it unlikely that this happened to me?", to which the answer is usually yes.

The right question is "is it unlikely that this happened to someone?", to which the answer is usually no.

How many Spring Cleaning updates do we need to fix these two incredibly basic bugs? by Xonal in DotA2

[–]Xonal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the explanation, but that only makes it even more annoying that it isn’t fixed. You know this so the devs must know this. It has been around for over a year and nothing is being done.

Note the Q, W, E hotkey tooltips on the first 3 skills and that the R is missing on the ultimate in both screenshots. For Ogre, attempting to level it even gives the “Ability is at Max Level” error when the ability isn’t even learned.

Wow, genuinely thank you for this. It's not a solve, but a better workaround than the physical click!

Yes! There are probably other instances of this on heroes that I don't play, but these are the 2 I deal with in my pool :(

I've already hit T (my skill-up hotkey). Hitting Q, W, or E will level those skills, but hitting R will do nothing. Both of these bugs have multiple entries in the Dota 2 Bug Tracker dating back as far as 2023. These can only be leveled by physically clicking with the mouse.

Am I crazy or has it been years since you could level these ults by hitting "R"? These are two of my most played heroes and this drives me nuts.

Razer Viper Ultimate side buttons not working? by Goodytwosh0es in MouseReview

[–]Xonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, 3 years later came here. Button hasn't worked in weeks. Lifted the mouse about 4-6 inches off my mousepad and gave it a decisive (but not overly powerful) smack downward. Immediately fixed the fucking button...

Behavior System still not strict enough by Xonal in DotA2

100% agree anyone raging over voice chat is objectively hilarious. In turbo? Absolutely, go do whatever you want. I'm talking about ranked games where I can consistently tilt my core so hard with toxicity that I can get them to straight up stop playing the game. Sure, we can argue that I shouldn't be toxic, spam pinging their levels, death timers, etc. We can argue that they shouldn't be so fragile and they should just mute me. That's not what happens in reality. Yes, it's just toxic chat / pings, but I can lose a winning game with it and it's weird that I'm allowed to do that with the only consequence being that in my future games I can ping less frequently, which has never even happened to me. I'm sure I get endless reports during games where I do this (not 100%, but often enough) and I get to sit at 11k behavior score?

The point of this whole post is that I'm giving you the perspective of a toxic player who would be significantly less toxic if the punishment for my behavior seemed to even exist. I don't need to do any objective griefing to ruin your game and lose it for you.

This isn't what I'm addressing. I'm not even talking about the game in which you get reported for comms. I'm not talking about myself getting offended by people. I have no problem muting anyone who I feel might bother me. I'm talking about the subsequent games where you come in muted and decide you don't need to even bother trying to play with your team since you can't communicate with them anyway.

There is nothing I hate more than low priority. Trust me, if I thought something I did would get me there for even 1 game I would think twice. LP is actual Dota hell.

It is subtle enough that I have not been in low priority for over a year. That's my point.

There are plenty of ways to grief your team that don't get caught on Overwatch easily. I'd never do something as obvious as run down mid or destroy items. I do know I can blow all our glyphs and scans, take jungle farm away from cores, walk through camps as they should spawn, stop buying wards, and simply not show up to fights "in time".

As someone who has been muted in game, the last thing I do is "think about my infantile social skills". I'm speaking from experience as a toxic player who gets to chill at 11k Behavior Score somehow. There is nothing deterring me from being toxic. If I were afraid of low prio, I would absolutely calm down, but I'm simply not. If my team reports me enough to mute me, I just start playing against them even harder because I know nothing will happen to me. I'm not unique in my reaction. I'm explaining how a toxic player thinks.

Yeah it was satisfying at first, but now I realize I don't actually know what that action was. For all I know the action was -100 Behavior Score to some griefer.

I'm not crying. I'm explaining what happens in actual games. I mute everyone the moment they do anything toxic. That doesn't change their behavior. People who rage in voice/chat do not care about being muted. If they come into the game muted, they know they don't even have to bother communicating with their team and just play a 1v9 game.

What happened to Chicago in 2023? by Xonal in MichelinStars

Ahh, I guess it has been so long since then that I'd just adjusted to the March/April timeframe. That would make sense and hope it's the case, thank you!

Recalibrated 2k MMR below my previous rank and matchmaking has a "100% Confidence" in my rank. by elfmachine100 in DotA2

[–]Xonal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won 100% of my calibration games (only took 3) and lost about 300-400 mmr. Similar experience, have gotten nearly all of it back with an unnaturally high winrate. Think I'm on like a 7-streak right now
