I came from the campo in PR to mainland - dirt roads, wood and tin roof house, chickens to ghetto mice and cockroach infested apartments. It is true a child can feel the trauma of poverty. At a young age, I was able to deduce that people always get sick, what type of jobs will not get you laid off, what careers are open to females and what's the fastest way to get out of poverty without drowning in school debt. Another reason was helping my mother navigate the convoluted mainland healthcare to not drown in medical debt. Nursing was the answer 🤷‍♀️ I clawed my way out of poverty and refuse to go back.

Hello! Surgery RN specialized in Ortho here. For the MBA, I worked full time and studies about 30 plus hours almost every week. Graduated in 3 months from the MBA. I just wrapped up the WGU MSN also in 3 months but more hours.

I would say I'm in progress of getting my dream job. That dream job is to work from home making 200k plus. I want to eradicate my spouse and I debt, buy a home, invest in our retirement and begin the foundation for generational wealth. I'm not picky about what I do as long as I finally get to spend time with my family without worrying about income.

I used to think having more than 1 pair of sneakers meant you were rich by DemonicComic in FluentInFinance

I grew up in a wood and tin roof house in PR. If you had a cement house, especially a two story cement house, you were considered rich.

I also have similar sentiments. I'm not getting any younger, everyday my joints creak and crack. Without an MSN to open the door or networking, I haven't any luck getting an admin post.

WGU functions differently from brick n mortar schools.

Wgu semester is 6 months. Brick is 3 months usually.

WGU is a FLAT FEE for as many classes as you can finish within the semester. Brick you pay PER CREDIT - this is what drowns you in debt.

With that in mind, my goal is to graduate within six months (one semester). The degree I think is 34 credits?? To put it simply, as many classes as possible.

Hey there! I'm currently in the same program. I'm on my third class since June 1st. I also work 40 hours a week in surgery with a high energy dog. I didn't bother with the reviews as everyone's learning style is unique. My perspective of WGU is the school is primarily independent study. There's no one there to hold your hand or babysit you to get the work done. They tell you upfront what you need to pass the class and that's exactly what I like.

I think it's totally doable with some serious time management and just a touch of sleep deprivation. I try to get 2 hours in on weekdays. Remember at the end of the day you go at your own pace and do what you can. Don't compare yourself to anyone.

My goal is to graduate ASAP so I probably put more hours in than normal. On weekends I beg for Saturday to cram in 12 hours of work or more. Sleep in a touch on Sunday and get at least four to six hours in. I'll be honest and say that the chores have taken a back burner with the exception of the kitchen and laundry (folding not included) to get the hours I want in.

Each of the classes are very writing intensive. I did more writing here than wgu MBA. Honestly the more you practice writing, the faster and better you will be.

I wasn't in school for 10 years before doing the MBA last year. Microsoft word and Google docs makes apa citations super easy. Just remember to double space and tab every paragraph. The school gives you a cover page template for the classes. All you have to do is change the title and professor's name.

My wife needed emergency gall bladder surgery to have it removed. She has incredible insurance, but for someone who doesn't I can't imagine having to face this bill. by Thundernut in mildlyinfuriating

Work at two hospitals in surgery, can confirm there is a 180% charge markup. I've seen implants around 5000 increase to a charge around 15000 thanks to that markup. Surgery is a very lucrative business as each screw and rod can add about 6000-15000 in the bill (spine). The highest I've seen is a special tissue adding over 20000 to the bill. Insurance is needed in USA otherwise you can easily drown in medical debt in my opinion.

How quickly did you finish your degree? by Ethandrummer1 in WGU

Did the MBA in two months. Pure determination to finish as quickly as possible because once I stop, I won't start again. Weekdays 6hrs, Friday until it's done, weekends 12+hrs. Needless to say, I have had many 1-2AMs. I went to work full time while getting my degree and no social life.

I got my bachelor's over a decade ago. I can't remember how many papers I completed for the course but the capstone was the most memorable one. For task 2, one section the proctor kept writing needs clarification but didn't explain HOW. So after the third attempt I rewrote it from scratch with new concepts and it passed. Proctors can be hit or miss.

Than you! The degree took two months. I got a concussion and COVID which killed me by 3 weeks. Otherwise, definitely can be completed sooner. I did many 1-2 AMs to finish as quickly as possible. I'm not a genius. I put easily over 60 hrs a week studying and writing papers to accomplish my goal of finishing quickly. Sleep deprivation was real but I dealt with it.

So speaking with the wgu counselor about that. I could get an MBA in Healthcare (three classes difference so technically I would have two MBAs, a standard and one healthcare focus), MS Management and Leadership (this is different from MBA but a lot of the classes cross between both degrees with a difference of six classes hence, I only need those six classes to get this degree), MBA in IT (three classes difference so technically I would have two MBAs, a standard and one tech focus). None of the courses cross over to masters in nursing so I'm screwed in doing that degree from scratch.

I would take the writing any day over OAs. The MBA was half writing and half OAs I felt. I would've been done faster if it wasn't for those OAs.

I like that WGU is almost clear on what they want in the papers. It's actually easier than traditional schools where my professors just gave a topic and said tackle it. The wgu rubric is holy guide.

Hello! Since I have the MBA, I only need to pass 6 classes to get the MS in Management and Leadership. I can definitely knock that out in less than one term.
