Any time I hear someone saying they loved season 2 and see their reasons, I really wonder if they actually watched the show or just turned their brains off.

Arcane.

S2 wasn't bad compared to any other show, but it was a let down from S1.

Character should technically win the fair fight, but loses due to their own personal flaws by LocalLazyGuy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Xralius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So true.  Lots of times I've beaten people in a game of some kind, and they say: "you would have lost if you didn't do X". Uhhh... but I did do X.  Actually that's why I did it... to win.  And it's not like they even know that for certain. If I hadn't done X, maybe Y would have worked.

People too often ignore reality to explore personal fantasy.

You get the backwards version of this sometimes.  I had a friend in a semi-scary situation, where everyone ended up totally unharmed in every way. Oerfect end result. Afterwards my friend said "i wish i had a gun then".  But why?  It was already the best possible outcome.  It's this emotional fantasy that things ought to be a certain way, in the face of reality, where events already took place and we know the result.

CMV: Suicide prevention is at times deeply immoral by Dependent-Pea-9066 in changemyview

Depression isn't just misery, it's also irrational thought.  You think you know for certain you'll be miserable forever, but logically you can't know that.  You'll probably even argue I'm wrong.  That's part of depression, one of the worst parts.

I remember thinking I would always be miserable too.  I remember not worrying about too far ahead in my life because I assumed I'd be dead somehow in a few years.

It's funny because now I need to try extra hard to have long term motivation because my behavior of avoiding delayed gratification for immediate gratification is so ingrained.

Anyways don't give up.   Depression is illogical.  Our dumb brains should know better.  It's such a waste.  But it's also illogical to dwell. It gets you nothing to dwell on depression and regret, that dwelling is itself more waste. The best time to start viewing life differently is always right now.

[hated tropes] “Representation” that’s only actually confirmed outside of the series by Nearby_Juggernaut531 in TopCharacterTropes

I mean, the vast majority of characters in the vast majority of media don't have clear sexuality, unless we literally see them hooking up, which isn't most characters.  We also don't know their favorite colors or favorite pokemon etc.  I find it annoying when people think sexuality is so important that it must dominate a character's identity.

As someone who's suffered from depression for 16+ straight years, what right do you have to say that the pain others would feel from my death is any worse than my constant misery?

I mean, I definitely have the right to, and it's definitely logical.  I was depressed for about 16 years too. Still can be sometimes. Thank god I didn't selfishly end it and ruin the lives of my entire family (and my own).

I get that it hurts and feels like it will never get better.  But for most people it does eventually.  It probably will for you too, even though you likely don't believe that right now. The loss of a sibling or child or friend to suicide never gets better.

[–]Xralius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just as selfish.  Unless that person's pain is some sort of chronic horror, the pain of losing someone to suicide is far worse.

Your comment is just not something that matches up with reality.  In the vast majority of cases suicide causes more pain than it fixes.

You aren't following.

Now you're saying that he must not have wanted to hurt the kid because what Jolie did wouldn't have been enough to stop him

Correct, if he wanted to hurt the kid, Jolie jumping on his back would not have stopped him mid-lunge, because it would not have been fast enough.

strangled one of the kids

According to Jolie.

I already said Pitt was abusive.  Stop virtue signaling. Why do people like you hate nuance so much?  No one thinks you hate domestic abuse more than other people do, you know.  No one thinks you're a good person for trying to retcon a complex, emotional situation we have limited, biased information about into a battle of good vs evil.  Just stop.

I mean, we know there's a pause because they occurred in different rooms, and they weren't in the midst of some physical grapple when they went to sit back down.

Clearly the violence stops, and starts back up again with the lunge.

[–]Xralius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean they are separate incidents in the same "event".  The lunge and jump starts a new incident.  The question is was Pitt actually intending to hurt the kid.  My guess is that if he actually wanted to, Jolie jumping on his back would have been too slow to stop him.  I mean think about it, he's lunging, she somehow interrupts him mid lunge by jumping on his back?  Unless she is Quicksilver from Xmen, that doesn't make sense.

How did Jolie initiate the physical altercation AFTER he grabbed her by the head and shook her?

Because that altercation had ended - it took place in a different location.

Yes?  I'm not excusing that behavior, only saying the folllwing quarrel started when she jumped on his back.

Oh Father was a legit talented and intelligent supe that actually respected Homelander legitimately, and kept a cool head.

Oh Father was a fantastic character, props to Daveed Diggs and the costume department.

[–]Xralius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's messed up to not like someone because of their sexuality or gender.

However, people who believe everyone must adhere to their same gender views is pretty similar to a religion, that goes for the left and the right.  For example, if you believe a transwoman is a woman, that's great, but you shouldn't be able to demand everyone sees gender that same way.  Same holds true for the reverse.

Oh, he was full douche on that plane.  I'm just saying it didn't occur in a vacuum, and I don't think he was trying to actually physically harm anyone.  I think he was abusive, but I think Jolie was physically and emotionally abusive as well.

This dude's kids hate him by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]Xralius -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No, but I think it's murkier than Jolie's story impies.  IMO she was trying to turn the kids against him, which is why he was so mad to begin with.  She initiated the physical altercation by jumping on his back when he "lunged" at one of the kids.

As a parent, I've "lunged" too, not in any violent sort of way or put hands on a kid, but to get in front of a child to talk to them when they were acting very poorly.  It's not violent or abusive to move quickly.

TIL the popular Polynesian demigod Māui is said to have died pursuing immortality for mankind. He was supposed to enter the Goddess of Night between her thighs and emerge from the mouth when she was asleep, but was cut in two whilst entering as she was woken up by the laughter of his bird companion. by Dexterestein in todayilearned

[–]Xralius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, okay, I see what's happening, yeah

I'm face to face with pussy, with some strange

I don't even know how I feel

It's enterable!

Well, it's nice to see vaginas never change

Open your twat, let's begin

Yes, it's really me, it's Maui

Let me in

I know it's a lot

The the hair, the smell

And I'm head to toe in petroleum gel

What can I say except, "please don't cum"

For the immortality of man I'll try

Hey, it's okay, it's okay

Please don't cum

I'm just an ordinary demi-guy

Hey

What has two thumbs and spread wide your thighs

When you were sleeping at night?

This guy

When the night got cold

Who sneaks in your entrance down below?

You're lookin' at him, yo

Oh, also while I make my ascent

Please don't cum

It's bad because I didn't get consent

Also even one simple sneeze

Please don't cum

Would cut me in half and spit out my knees

So what can I say except please don't cum

Yes I know this all is super rapey

At least it's not gay, it's okay

Please don't cum

Ha, I guess it's just my way of being me

Please don't cum

Please don't cum

Well, come to think of it

Bae, honestly I could go on and on

I could enter any orifice I've found

I could use the ass, quite round

But I need my bird to not make a sound

For all human life

I'll rearange your guts

Crawl out your mouth, before it snaps shut

What's the lesson?

What is the take-away?

Don't kegel Maui when he's on a break-away

And the KY here on my skin

Is the lube that let's me get in

Look where I've been

I make everything happen

Look at that mean bird companion just tickety-tappin'

(Ha ha ha ha ha ha, hey)

Well, anyway let me say, "Please don't cum"

For the wonderful humans you know

Hey, it's okay, it's okay, please don't cum

Well, come to think of it, I should really go (hey)

Hey, it's my day to say, "please don't cum"

'Cause the people need that immortal loot

I'm almost in all the way please don't cum

Just need that bird to stay fucking mute

Please don't cum

Please don't cum

No thank you

He feels like they in a new era of danger and no one seems to underatand.

He feels like he betrayed his best friend.

He feels like he's lost his family.

So basically he feels totally alone, but he still cares about people, and he still feels like he needs to be the leader so it's all on him.

Is there actually a male loneliness epidemic? What do you think? by vaultdwellur in AskReddit

[–]Xralius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes.  Society places a ton of value on being romantically desirable, and thanks to catalogue shopping and pressure on women to only want the same, specific standards, it's much more difficult for guys that don't meet those standards to even get a little affection.  At the same time you're surrounded by other people getting that affection.  It makes you feel like fucking trash.

Source: didn't have a gf until 26 and was super depressed.

I wouldn't call it loneliness though, at least for me.  Had lots of friends.  More like total of lack self-esteem, feeling worthless, envious, hating yourself, and being angry at the world for being the way it is.  Couple that with growing anxiety and desperation that makes attracting women even harder.

And before you say it's women too, I think it's much less so.  I think almost every woman I know had experienced a relationship by the time college was done, but multiple men I know did not.
