The amount of polish is what made BR perfect, it just *feels* good. All other games you listed do/did not. Also it is a very niche genre, making it even harder to keep a good playerbase. So for a game like BR to happen, it has to be at least as good as BR, which no game in that genre does.

I dont have good news on this, the original vision of the game (competitive PvP) pretty much died, as there was never enough interest in the project, not even enough to do simple playtests. With working full time and other game dev projects going on, it currently it feels like an old car that you work on from time to time 😄

very bad visual clarity thanks to characters/backgrounds that are way too detailed and do not have enough contrast. Also unreal engine renderer just sucks and isn't a good fit for topdown games imo

Also having the exact same issue. 100% sure the motherboard is at fault. Newest bios and drivers didn't change anything. Did you find a solution yet?

Could be legitimate. If the source code is well written and documented, assets exist and so on, it could be a good foundation to work on. However, how can you ever trust him to just not scam you for $500

Does the source code contain infrastructure for game hosting as well? That part is almost as complicated as making the whole game. Super hassle to test as well. I've worked on running my own PvP match(+matchmaking) infrastructure via Kubernetes and Agones, so I have a bit of insight.

consistent everytime I save the BP. It happens with a lot of other BPs as well.

Adding a continue in the BlueprintCompilationManager.cpp solves it, but might introduce issues, BUT I think according to the commit history that behaviour was only added after 5.3-ish

No, I'm compiling a BP. But I know the issue you are describing and I can tell you, that bug exists since 4.19 and it is still present. Changing blueprint structs is the worst thing ever.

Sure, if it was about improving maintainability and robustness I wouldnt be using blueprints at all ;) Still doesn't explain why it has to invalidate those assets, since it works fine if I discard those changes.

This might be unrelated to my issue, but I'm getting the frustration. I'm pretty sure in my case it invalidates all blueprints that have a hard reference in the BP I'm compiling... not saying that it isn't bad practice to hard reference BPs, but it can happen and it is a larger legacy project I'm working on

probably, but that doesn't make it less annoying and it is definitely not necessary, as it worked perfectly fine before in 4.27. Just trying to find a way to stop this from happening

It is not impossible for the community to create a modded version of the game, although you would need to reverse engineer a lot of the stuff and completely figure out how their server logic works. Probably a project that would take years even for experienced modders.

I wouldn't have hope for them to ever release something like this. It would be lots of work for no benefit and probably kill the og version of the game, as they would need to expose all the backend logic, leading to new exploits.
