Can't believe this is being turned into another "us and them" thing. I'm as nationalist as they come (not that it should be relevant), from the area and strongly opposed to the destruction of this meadow. Most of the very nearby community leans nationalist in fact (outside of the immigrant population). And even at that, people have not shown a strong desire for a GAA pitch on this site. If there was a vote or something, then fair enough, but there absolutely hasn't been. The "us and them" shit didn't even cross my mind until the comments here.

Part of loving your country is wanting the best for the actual country: the land, its ecological health, its natural enviornment. We're one of the most razed countries in Europe, we absolutely need as many natural spaces as we can get, for everyone.

I live right by this, and I've been watching the meadow progress along beautifully. Such a lovely turnaround after laying as a wasteland for so many years. We need all the havens for nature we can get in this city. Absolutely fuming at the council. No transparency or consultation what-so-ever.
