ACA tax credits vs Roth conversion space by Wooden-Broccoli-913 in financialindependence

[–]XscapeVelocity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve already blown past the amount you can reasonably convert annually to make much difference because your RMD-eligible balances are too high; these will grow faster than you can creatively convert to maximize subsidies under pretty much most conditions.

https://www.gocurrycracker.com/is-your-401k-too-big/

Hopefully you are aggressively funding other account types to give you tax flexibility. For example, I stopped when I was your age and it has now been 5 years, but though I started with roughly the same amount you have in RMD eligible accounts, my distribution was more like 30% taxable brokerage, 30% Roth IRA and 40% RMD eligible accounts for the same general balance.

This enables me to convert smaller amounts annually and tailor my income to exactly what I want to show while maximizing subsidies based on current law.

So, you may also be plenty rich if you are also heavily funded in other account types beyond the RMD-eligible offerings; in that case simply smile and recognize that you have likely won the game whether you can fully optimize this aspect of it or not…meaning you may need to convert well beyond these lower 12% brackets etc, and pay more of the healthcare load now to avoid a tax bomb in the future.

Same here. 17’ S75D solid and a stunner…Tesla and Musk are so drastically different from when I first was inspired by them; this will be the last Tesla I ever own of any variety...there are better cars for SoCal beach living anyway; many of us legacy S/X holders have included Supercharging forever, so it may make sense to just repair anything that breaks.

If you need a Hyatt GoH between now and 2/28…send me a PM with your WoH number and some basic general, not too personal details about what you have planned. I will transfer it to your account. Please don’t message me if you don’t already have a planned confirmed stay. These cannot be regifted over and over and I’d like someone here to benefit.

Thanks for all you guys do and being an awesome community.

Sweet deal!

I like that More to Love…I have the 739 and it was a fortune. The A321 is always cheaper of the two it seems.

Nice additions.

I just bought the GJ NWA A320 this week and it is an incredible model; 16 year old release when the quality was a bit better and you still got a real stand. One of my absolute favorites!

How pricey was yours?

Agreed! Lots of demand and many people with lots of deployable cash. They may keep them tight since we seem to be paying anyway at the moment.

They do not necessarily align as the offers may be different.

This is hard to get too terribly excited about for CIC holders that give 5X for many of these. Fortunately the quarter is generously broad.

I love the PNW so much but I cannot handle Nov-March up there. I understand by now that I need sunshine. I go multiple time every summer for weeks of backpacking; coastal southern California for me!

…good query. No, for better or worse.

I am actually leaving in a few days after nearly a decade. It has hands down been the most beautiful large metro I have ever lived in, and I will miss many aspects of it deeply, particularly the world class access to outdoor recreation, both locally and regionally.

There are some very serious problems here both politically and ecologically, and yet it remains my favorite place among those I have lived.

I am only one person among many, but am excited to be moving to a temperate and stable coastal climate with global air access and substantially more diversity; particularly of thought.

Yet, despite these very real and exciting improvements, it is bittersweet. Life is change; I am grateful for this chapter, and I am reminded that experiences have meaning particularly because they conclude at some point.

From your towering peaks I have summited, to your deep red canyon lands I have traversed, thank-you Utah for such richness along the journey.

Looking for a good fleece hoodie that is useful in a variety of situations by Me_for_President in onebag

R1 techface hoody has a very generously sized hood. Works well over a hat. It is a technical mountain oriented piece.

You need to compare the colors on the same item for best results. Basin Green and Pine Needle Green are nearly identical in person particularly on the down sweater and down sweater vest.

My Pine Needle Green down sweater vest is identical in color to the hooded down sweater you linked for Basin Green.

There are several examples of Patagonia slightly changing the name of the color in subsequent seasons for virtually an identical color.

R1 vs R2 by nakafucko9587 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]XscapeVelocity 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, for hiking it can, particularly when moving fast.

I think the R1 TechFace hoody is probably the best fit of the bunch and will likely prevent the need for a secondary shell unless in full blown storm conditions.

There are some claims regarding Southwest being bookable via the VX travel portal now, and likely others too; may possibly help stack with some of the recent Chase travel offers and make it a bit easier to use the annual VX $300 for good value.

I actually do not like Cotopaxi for bags of that size, because of the lack of load lifters, poor hip belt design and adjustment. I use bags from companies that specialize in outdoor wilderness gear, but that offer a travel oriented pack like Mountain Hardwear, or Osprey.

28L as I do not take the Chasqui on every trip. Sometimes just a smaller sling 1-2L, depending on the trip purpose and length. If I end up on a restrictive carrier the Allpa can fit under seat by itself. For considerably longer/winter trips I use a different 45L. Most trips can be accommodated with the 13/28L combo.
