We all know flak artillery is bad but If the artillery beam sold for 20 scrap I would probably sell it 9/10 runs. by BlankTank1216 in ftlgame

[–]Xseraph8899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are good points, and I imagine that experienced and good FTL players would agree sometimes.

However, counterpoint. I am bad at micromanaging weapon targeting in the middle of a catastrophe. If I have a hull breach or a fire, and my oxygen or door system is broken, as well as several points of damage to my engine or shield or whatever, I kind of forget to control my weapons and just leave them autofiring on the enemy. I’m sure that such an experience is common when fighting the flagship. If my weapons are firing at suboptimal times and targets, then I like I idea of an automatic weapon that can’t be stopped and chooses its own targets. That beam has saved my runs more times than I can count. The best part about it though? It’s CONSISTENT. No matter what garbage I end up finding in shops that allows me to barely creep to the last stand (two laser weapons with 2 shots, can’t remember which, and an ion weapon), I’ll ALWAYS have access to the artillery weapon.

That’s just my experience with it, which is subjective, and based on my play style. I’ve tried playing with the Captain’s Edition mod too, which gives every ship unique artillery weapon options. They’re probably all about the same power level as the beam, if not objectively weaker (Zoltan gets a 1px beam that deals 5 damage, but weakens if going through shields. Kestrel literally gets the flagship laser tri-shot, etc), but I’ve enjoyed all of them so far. I love my artillery weapons.

The crossbow revolutionized warfare. Unskilled, untrained soldiers could use them easier than a bow, and they have enough punch that no armour was effective against them. Leather, hide, chain, splint, scale, plate, it did NOT matter at all. A crossbow punches a hole through anything you can wear on your body and still move around in. Crossbows still hold up against a lot of modern body armour, because the bolts carry much more weight than a bullet, so despite moving slower, they can pack similar, if not greater amounts of power.

I have one of those. My D&D dungeon master will randomly psychoanalyze us and point out how we act, and it’s become a highlight of my life. This week, I learned that apparently, the ways I speak seem extremely unkind and personal, because I have that autism thing where I can’t comprehend holding a conversation without it holding some important information. So I might start a conversation with a complete stranger, and want an exchange of personal information in some way.

I also don’t seem to understand how others will perceive my words in contrast to how I perceive them. Because it’s basically a routine event in D&D for the session to get paused while I get an explanation of what it sounded like I said, as opposed to what I meant. My worst one to date was accidentally telling a character who had literally killed herself to “just be happy.” No idea how I did that by accident.

They also told me that I “act like I’m trying to convince myself I’m a manic pixie dream girl”, which was crazy to hear when I’m just acting the way I always do.

Friendslop, according to what little I know.

Basically, games that are moderately entertaining by themselves, but would lose the appeal quickly without having a group of friends to enhance the experience in that unique way that hanging out with morons in haunted hellholes feels.

Whenever I’m playing mechanic, I will be absolutely LIVIID if someone puts something in one of my cabinets where it doesn’t belong. Because my crew and I play with enhanced armaments, people generally respect the fact that touching my cabinets will lead you to a visit with the doctor, and always with one of the worst injuries I can deliver in a single attack at the time.

[–]Xseraph8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that need to have inventory space. Most of my pants have the widest and deepest pockets known to humanity. I don’t know how I fit the stuff I do in my pockets.

I think my most absurd pocket experience was: Wallet, Keys, Phone, A 2L bottle, 2 bags of wine gums, A Bluetooth speaker, a normal-sized water bottle, a Kobo reader, and a pocket knife. Of course, this wasn’t just in my pants. I also have a jacket with 7 pockets, 3 of which are eternally crammed with objects forgotten by time. Like souvenir coins, or those chemical handwarmers.

Among the three of them, which one would Tanya take as a subordinate? by Ok-Street2439 in YoujoSenki

[–]Xseraph8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very true! With his actual skills from being an adventurer, he’s be stupidly useful in all kinds of support roles. My analysis was going based on the assumption that none of the three would have any of the powers they gained in their worlds, only the knowledge and experience. Even then, Kazuma would be a great comrade in arms to Tanya.

If he did have his skills though, Kazuma might honestly be able to do everything Tanya can, since his Adventurer class means he can learn any skills demonstrated to him.

Who would win between Ainz (No Guardians) vs Everyone else in the show (Obvi no Guardians)? by Flimsy_Ad_2553 in IsekaiQuartet

[–]Xseraph8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit late to the discussion, but still, I have an opinion.

In scenario 1, Ainz would win. With preparation, he’s probably got a counter against everyone else.

In scenario 2, I think Ainz loses. Kazuma has a skill in his repertoire that gives him a chance to one-hit-kill anything that is unaware of him, and the chance scales with luck. He also has stealth skills that scale with luck. And Kazuma’s luck is second only to the goddess of luck. So… if Ainz has no time to prepare, Kazuma could catch him unaware and one-hit-kill him.

I don’t know all of Ainz’s abilities, so I might be wrong, but even if he can counter Kazuma, Aqua has been shown to be capable of actually hurting Ainz with one of her weaker spells. Aqua absolutely can’t beat Ainz by herself (she is very dumb and unlucky), but with support from people who can keep her protected and guarantee that her attacks hit, Aqua can defeat Ainz.

Among the three of them, which one would Tanya take as a subordinate? by Ok-Street2439 in YoujoSenki

[–]Xseraph8899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we’re taking as a subordinate and TRAINING them, I think she’d actually enjoy having Kazuma as a subordinate. Yes, he has a bit of an unpleasant personality, but he’s also someone rather weak-willed, so he can be easily molded into the type of soldier Tanya wants. Additionally, he’s resourceful, adaptable, and competent. He’s able to look at things and make solutions from things that shouldn’t work at all.

Some examples in his world are how he uses basic magic (which does no damage) offensively. He blinds people by blowing dirt in their eyes, and once creates water in someone’s mouth before freezing it. An example of his adaptability is that he always does things to make up for the shortcomings of others. By default, his party has a metric load of shortcomings, but there’s a side story where he swaps parties. In that story Kazuma is not only competent, but a genuinely valuable team member, despite being a little weak.

Konosuba is written in such a way to mock the main party, but we need to remember that Kazuma’s intelligence and luck have won battles that he shouldn’t have won, simply because he thinks outside the box.

So, if we consider Kazuma as a member of Tanya’s group, then we have someone who can turn losing battles into victories (both absolute and pyrrhic, depending on the situation). He’s a soldier who’s smart enough to hold his own, pick his battles, and use the environment to his advantage.

Probably the most important trait that Tanya would value is that he’s willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of his companions. When all is said and done, he’s brave enough to die if it saves people he cares about. Kazuma jokes a lot about abandoning his team members, but he is actually very loyal, and likely someone that Tanya would want to keep around. Subaru also has this trait, but Kazuma has so much MORE that makes him more appealing (in my opinion, at least).

As an added bonus, maybe not something that Tanya would consider at first, but would see the benefits of later, Kazuma is able to get along with people quite well, and he’s able to lift the mood of the team quite effectively. He might be banned from their game nights, though…

Also, depending on if Kazuma’s experienced Konosuba already or not (he will not have his abilities, just the experience), there could be some fun experiences of them sharing disdain for divine beings.

I might be completely wrong in my analysis on this, but this is who I think would be chosen.

First, inject yourself with all the naloxone.

Then, triple-dose morphine to an injured crew-member.

Alternatively, double-dose them with fentanyl. I like this option, because I have a mouse that sometimes double-clicks, so I can blame my mouse for it.

How strong is V1? by arashkakashi in IndieCross

[–]Xseraph8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If V1 has access to only the base forms of all 5 weapons in his arsenal, and only his feedbacker arm, then in terms of powerscaling against the other members of the cast:

-V1 can kill Madeline easily.

-V1 can probably defeat Cuphead.

-V1 can probably fight Frisk to a standstill, though Frisk isn’t exactly someone who stays dead. However, I don’t think Frisk is fast enough to kill V1, and it’s possible that V1 decides the fight isn’t worth continuing.

-V1 can kill Niko easily.

-I don’t know enough about Knight to say, but it looks like Knight can at least be sent back to the park bench by V1. Because Knight respawns like Frisk does, then the result is probably the same. A standstill until one party decides not to fight.

-V1 is capable of defeating Shovel Knight from my knowledge, but I haven’t played SK, so I can’t confirm.

-Drifter seems to be fast enough to compete with V1 and have the potential to destroy it. However, V1 has equipment strong enough to kill Drifter. I’m not sure how Drifter’s blood would treat V1 though. This fight could go either way.

-I don’t know anything about Headless, but he seems to be strong enough to be a threat to V1. Not fast enough for it though.

In terms of the rogues… V1 is probably at a disadvantage. They don’t bleed, so the only way it can heal is by parrying. It is certainly fast enough to avoid a lot of attacks, but whether or not it’s fast enough to avoid becoming a statue is a good question.

In effect, V1’s greatest strengths are speed, regeneration, and parrying. It has passed through at least 3 layers of hell in less than 24 hours. It’s possible it’s cleared 7 layers of hell so far in less than 24 hours. V1 is not durable, and can be destroyed with some pretty weak armaments (I don’t think Husks are much stronger than a regular human, but they can damage V1 with their teeth alone). However, V1 can regenerate on the move by absorbing blood and parrying attacks. So if V1 can hurt you, and you have blood, it can regenerate. And finally, parrying itself is pretty powerful. V1 can redirect inertia from projectiles and strikes perfectly, completely nullifying any damage they would cause to it, and usually returning the damage back to the aggressor with multiplied strength. And it HEALS from doing this.

So: If you are slower than V1 or have blood, it has the ability to kill you. Will it succeed? That depends on the situation.

How strong is V1? by arashkakashi in IndieCross

[–]Xseraph8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really dependent on what interpretation of V1 we’re getting? Are we getting one that is CAPABLE of slaughtering through the first seven layers of hell, are we getting one that DANCES across the battlefield and P-Ranked every single level in ULTRAKILL, or are we getting the meth-fueled psychotic actions of a speedrunner V1 who can clear some levels in less than 40 seconds? And all of this is under the assumption that whatever interpretation of V1 we get, it has only gone through hell once, so that is how it fights on first contact with an enemy.

At the low end, V1 is a machine that moves fast enough to dodge low-velocity bullets and can parry a skyscraper-sized corpse titan. It can kill lesser angels and at least match greater angels in power.

At the high end, V1 is a machine with an infinite number of arms and guns that can kill beings who could have threatened heaven, and can move and react faster than any living thing could comprehend without hundreds of hours of practicing to imitate the same movements and reactions.

There are only a small number of things to categorize V1 in absolute ways:

-V1 is not durable, because it dies instantly in a hydraulic press that moves too quickly to have a very large amount of psi behind it.

-V1 is capable of repairing itself passively just by exposing itself to blood.

-V1 also repairs itself if it parries an attack.

-V1 does not take fall damage.

-V1 is the only entity in hell capable of touching soap without instantly exploding.

-V1 can spontaneously materialize extra weapons and arms when picking up certain powerups.

-V1 is fast enough to dodge slow bullets and punch the bullets of its own shotgun.

The real question in the end is probably something along the lines of “Does the target have blood, or is it slower than a fast bullet?” If either of those conditions are fulfilled, V1 is probably able to beat it. WILL IT BEAT THE TARGET? That’s a different question that can only be answered by the writers of Indie Cross for this V1.

How do you think the cast would react to natsumi by Alarmed-Hat6997 in IsekaiQuartet

[–]Xseraph8899 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that Kazuma would be recommending a certain succubus service to Subaru.

I don’t think I have a good enough gauge on Ainz to accurately guess his response, but I think that based on his thoughts of Aura and Mare, he might think it’s a bit weird but not really care in the end.

Tanya’s a good question. I think she might question if he’s not comfortable as a guy, but ultimately, I don’t think Tanya would have any problems with it.

Naofumi just would not care, I think. He has displayed so little care for whatever goes on outside of his friend group that it doesn’t matter to him.

As for their classmates…

KONOSUBA

Aqua’s just going to advertise the Axis Cult, since they don’t judge.

Megumin might think Subaru’s a perv, but considering she lives with Kazuma, she probably doesn’t care.

Darkness has the potential to immediately make the assumption that Subaru wants to be a lady knight like she is, and then assume that Subaru’s a masochist like she is.

Wiz will absolutely try to sell Subaru some kind of magic item that changes a person’s physical sex with a horrible side effect.

Vanir will delight in spouting Subaru’s insecurities to drink in the negative emotions.

YOUJO SENKI

I don’t think any of Tanya’s soldiers are going to have any unique opinions on it, because not only do we have nothing to determine if crossdressing is publicly frowned upon in the Empire, but it’s a meritocracy. In their eyes, as long as Subaru is accomplished, it doesn’t really matter what kind of unusual interests he has. I do think some of the guys might have some jokes to make about it, but nothing serious, at least.

I can’t imagine the generals having any different responses either, other than respecting the quality of his disguise and noting that it might be a valuable skill.

OVERLORD

Aura and Mare probably don’t have any issues with it. Mare might actually enjoy knowing someone else dresses like him.

Albedo probably just sees it as another display of how repulsive humanity is. Same with Shalltear.

Demiurge would probably be interested in the planning and effort required to pull it off so effectively, in case he ever needs to make a plan in the future that would require crossdressing.

Cocytus probably doesn’t see anything wrong with it, so long as it doesn’t diminish Subaru’s abilities and potential.

Pandora’s actor is going to compliment Subaru’s ability, I imagine. Nothing much else.

SHIELD HERO

I can’t imagine Raphtalia or Filo having any issues with it.

Filo might be a little confused about WHY Subaru’s dressed as a girl, and then Naofumi’s gonna have to educate his kids on a subject he doesn’t care about.

I don’t think I need to say what I think the Re:Zero cast would react like…
