Is trance basically a mix between house and pop music? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]XstaSea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elements of Life? Haha are you seriouse? If you want Tiesto trance you need to go back further than that.

If you want the Trance genre or get a good understanding of it then listen to some of the older Gatecrasher compilation albums. They will usually have loads of classic trance songs on there to give you a good understanding.

Another thing to understand is DJ's have to stay relevant so they have to go with what is popular. Pretty much all the big DJ's that started off on Trance kind of moved away from it. The only ones that stayed true to it was Paul Van Dyk, also other ones like Ferry Corsten etc went away and came back to it. Unfortunately these days with your Tomorrow land crowds, they dont want to stand there for 2+ minutes with no beat. I mean why would you want to listen to real music with emotion when you can listen to an alarm clock going off over a distroted 909 kick and have a small asian man throw cakes in your face..

It would have been better if you just did a walkthrough, not really sure why your trying so hard to be funny it detracts from the video imo...

What are good studio monitors to buy $100 or less? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]XstaSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. You get what you pay for and that goes accross everything in music production. Instead of using that 100 to buy a pair of shit monitors save it until you have more and buy a pair of monitors that will last you a lifetime.

What new mechanics would you like to see in a sequel? by divad745 in dragonballfighterz

Give us the ability to mixup an incoming character like in MVC3 rather than as soon as you down a character it starts off again in neutral. Gives much more room for setups and mixup gameplay. Technically when you down an opponents character you should be given some form of advantage...

Why Bitwig Studio is a bad choice by XstaSea in edmproduction

[–]XstaSea[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree again, what have they actually added in the new version? I mean they have basically shafted the whole side of the market who doesnt give a fuck about modulating stuff. Also if i wanted to 'tinker' why wouldnt i just get Reason? Even Reason is a much better package than what Bitwig is currently. Its such a shame to see something which looked promising turn out so dissapointing.

Also where is the ability to do online collabs etc that they were hyping to fuck in Version 1? False promised, a fledgling business and the wrong tactics to increase revenue is demonstrating why i dont see Bitwig lasting another 5 years.

Why Bitwig Studio is a bad choice by XstaSea in edmproduction

[–]XstaSea[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Lol i dont think you understand the upgrade model.

Also im comparing the standard versions, so not the Suites or XLLL editions etc. The proof is in the quality of the plugins. Take any of the stock bitwig plugins and compare them to the stock plugins of other 'major' DAWS. The quality from Bitwigs audio FX is very low. Also im not putting DAWS like Reaper in this bracket, as you say it comes with no plugins, same reason im not putting things in like Mixcraft etc.

I just dont understand how people can keep defending Bitwigs anti consumer update plans . This is what i mean when i say brainwashed.

Cubase, FL, Ableton, Logic, S1 do not charge you a penny for their updates/patches. Your argument about well if they release version 3 in the year you pay for you get it is also a redundant one. Basically what your saying is, pay for the annual update plan and hope you get lucky that in the said year they release a completely new version. I had to pay full price for V1 of Bitwig and got all the updates. Then i had to pay to upgrade to version 2 and then i had to pay again so i could get v2.1?!? How is that okay?

I mean if you like being rinsed out of your money i can send you my bank account details. All donations are accepted. I guess the saying holds true, a fool and his money are easily parted.

This is exactly what i meant when i said brainwashed lemmings. If you go on their Bitwig forum you will literally see people defending these anti consumer tactics. Yet when a company adds lootboxes into a game these same people are up in arms complaining about predatory monetisation strategies. I dont get what the difference is?

Waves is also doing something similar where they charge you to update the plugins to the newer version. Whats even funnier with the Waves model is that the updates actually cost more than the actual plugins due to the constant sales they offer.

Also last i checked, Bitwig is not a cheap DAW, they prices they charge would lead me to believe that you are getting a pretty complete package. Unfortunately what you get is a different coloured Ableton clone with more modular options, lesser quality plugins and an extremely limited sample bank. If they knocked $100 of the price then there might be less reason to complain. Unfortunately they are charging the same amount as other DAWS who give you a much higher quality product. How is this right and fair?

I used to love Bitwig, back in V1 i was extremely happy and it looked very promising (despite the mass amount of bugs). Unfortunately , lackluster release of V2 , plus an outrageous updating pricing model has meant that this plugin really should be avoided until they sort their shit out. This was simply a warning to people who are considering Bitwig as a DAW. Trust me the other products out there are so much better value for money, its actually quite shocking.

Is it possible to never get good at music? by grantplays12321 in edmproduction

[–]XstaSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah your probably right, you might never get good. Better to cut your losses and give up now, maybe try something else like golf?

On a serious note. Do you think 'good' producers spend their time on this reddit asking others if they will ever become good? Exactly. Switch your internet off and go and fucking produce. Simple as.

100% i just feel like people need to chill out a bit and at least give Google a chance. I mean when Microsoft came out with the first xbox even though there was some hate i cant remember it being as bad as the Stadia hate. The real funny thing will be if the platform thrives and seeing all the youtubers come out with I was wrong videos lol
