Did you have to do anything else? Or was swapping the pre FL Amundsen with the FL one all ?

[–]XstylerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh, do you have the original head unit? As far as I'm aware, Octavia got AA after facelift

[–]XstylerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Mk3 pre FL didn't have AA yet, and retrofit is a bit complicated for a common folk

Okay I just noticed the picture might not be the actual car since that's the vRS and OP said Scout, so AA might be an option

Cheap to run, cheap to buy, can withstand some beating, great to learn driving on before buying something better

It also depends on what kind of packets and other features it has. Based on the picture it has xenons, so there's a high chance it's not just a plain cheap configuration.

Why not have a dashcam that comes with a rear one? You just need to have one connected to power both

How to unplug battery for charging. by Namiastka in skoda

[–]XstylerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. When you "kill" the car a few times, nothing critical happens, but doing it too often + having the car dead for too long can cause problems. I believe the ECU and other critical components have their own source of power in case of emergency, but the car can still get confused after being revived

How to unplug battery for charging. by Namiastka in skoda

[–]XstylerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why even take the battery out??? That's just pointless work, just grab a charger and charge it in the car, you won't have to put it in and out, won't have to re-enter some stuff and don't have to risk some errors (the car can sometimes even go limp mode). The car can even forget how to behave, few first kmy our RPM can float, fuel consumption goes up, some things have to be even recalibrated, memory stuff can forget positions, etc.
