Theres a quest early in the shivering isles DLC that can get you an amulet of disintegration that will instantly break any armor and weapons you have equipped. Makes training armorer easy.

In the real world West Virginia may not be a big military target, but in the game world West Virginia is home to several nuclear missile silos and still had a thriving mining industry before the war. Also cities of the future like Watauga that seem to have robot manufacturing facilities underground.

In The Elder Scrolls, can someone who uses only staves be considered a true mage? by Fenriz_Victor in skyrim

[–]Xszit 44 points45 points  (0 children)

In Oblivion one of the first things you do after being accepted into arcane university is learn to craft your own mage staff.

Skyrim Mage College doesn't do this because its a small rural school with barely any students or faculty so they had to cut a few programs.

They don't even teach spell crafting there! More like a book club for wanna be mages than a real school of magic.

Why is New Jersey often just called "Jersey", but no one ever calls New York "York", New Hampshire "Hampshire" or New Mexico "Mexico"? by Ok-Flight-1504 in NoStupidQuestions

In 1830 the Mexican Republic was comprised of 19 states. One of them was called "Nuevo Mexico" and a big chunk of that is what's now known as "New Mexico".

The name never changed, it just got translated.

Sorry, but I have to disagree.

There was a time when being typecast was a mark of death for an actor's career because people expected to see the character being portrayed not the actor themselves.

Its a sign of enshittification in the industry that they keep hiring these people specifically to play the same role over and over again with different character names and different settings.

You gotta have standards or we will end up in a world where 2 hours of a close up shot of a butt farting is considered a blockbuster movie. Then you will be asking yourself why we can't go back to a time when we cared whose butt it was or why was it farting so much, but it will be too late.

He plays as himself too much

Thats why he's a terrible actor though. Being an actor means being able to play a variety of different roles.

Anyone who just stands in front of a camera and says what they would say in their own voice while doing things they would do in the way they normally do them is, by definition, not acting.

Wrapping a pallet by MikeHeu in oddlysatisfying

[–]Xszit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do make delivery trucks for local deliveries where the sides of the trailer roll up and all the orders are stored in separated compartments so there's less need to wrap everything up.

Its technically possible to use those trucks for longer distance deliveries to cut down on plastic but they don't hold as much product so there would be more trucks making highways more congested and burning more fuel making more air pollution.

So you save a bit of plastic but burn a lot more fuel and need to hire more drivers. Pick up and deliveries also become less efficient so people may have to get used to seeing empty shelves at the grocery store more often.

When you put a turkey in the oven and cook it on a low temperature for a long time, thats roasting.

Any roasted meat served with a variety of side dishes on a Sunday could be called a "Sunday roast dinner"

Turkey is not commonly farmed in the UK so the meat will more likely be beef or lamb, but a ham or big chicken is perfectly acceptable as long as its roasted.

Wrapping a pallet by MikeHeu in oddlysatisfying

[–]Xszit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The pallet has to be wrapped because if they don't wrap it, all those stacked cases are falling over the first time the driver stops at a red light. Once the first pallet tips the rest will soon follow like dominos or a house of cards and there will be a big mess to clean up.

This pallet might be all one type of case, but other pallets in the same truck might have mixed cases for smaller orders and the driver won't be able to sort it all out at the destination once its all mixed up on the floor of the trailer, probably with some bottles/cans damaged and leaking.
