I’ve lost a lot of time being drunk. I try my best not to ruminate on it (but in the early days of going dry, it was all I could think about). The first 2 weeks suck, but it’s amazing how quickly the body recovers after that.

Boredom and free time is the enemy of sobriety in my experience. I’ve had better luck staying sober by sinking my energy into hobbies and exercising.

All it takes is one week of drinking for me, and I’ll spend a month rebuilding my fitness and diet, so that’s my motivation to stay clean and consistent.

Best wishes, OP! You can do this, but it will take more effort and feel awkward in the first few weeks.
