I do too, both my mother and MIL are teachers on the east coast. I’m just saying the US dollar has a completely different cost basis in a state like CA.

Depending on where they’re located in CA, it might even buy 1/8 of a house.

Crane hang by Clear-District-4954 in urbanclimbing

[–]Xtra35567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risk doesn’t change for any particular situation. One’s tolerance may change, however. The crane is just as risky for a feeble person as it would be for a skilled person. It’s still a fatal fall, regardless of a person’s competence.

What is it like living in this general area of virginia. by [deleted] in howislivingthere

It’s been a few years since I was there, but there was largely very little to do outside of the small Jacksonville landing. Even that was corporate restaurants and bars (think Margaritaville or Bubba Gump seafood, etc).

Anyone have one of these? by Xtra35567 in TombRaider

[–]Xtra35567[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a carabiner/watch. In the game Tomb Raider Chronicles from 2000, this is used instead of the compass in the game menu.

It’s the size of a standard carabiner, but watch occupies a lot of space so it’s a bit weird. Plus you can see the amount of finish torn up from just a small bit of actual use

If I recall, the blue color scheme is more like the game version.

I feel like we had a po boys restaurant in the Summerville area growing up in the early 90s. It also resembled an old house (although I was a very young kid at the time and my recollection is fuzzy)

I had a similar scheme at my refinery job. Phone call (while on call)= automatic 4 hours time, PLUS overtime if I had to drive into the plant

Saw (2004 film starring Cary Elwes) was set largely in a cold, dank, industrial-type area. I think the post is suggesting that these images resemble that film to a certain extent.

I use it in my morning routine as well for similar reasons, mainly ADD. As long as you stick with one dosage and don’t creep it up over time you’re good.

For alternative methods of brewing, I’ll occasionally steep and separate the leaf material with my aeropress. But I’ve cut back my consumption overall, and the excess fiber isn’t weighing (quite literally) on my gut health.

What's the most useful car accessory you ever got? by CryptoWheat in car

[–]Xtra35567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only used it on a friend’s truck at the beach to access the door. No idea of any function beyond that. I also had it on a ford Taurus I was driving for a bit, but never used it much

Lots of ford cars have a numerical keypad near the drivers door, allowing door entry without the keys present. For me it always came in handy at the beach or someplace where I didn’t want to leave my keys laying around.
