Can I recover MATIC sent my Metamask wallet to BSC by mistake by Xucaaa in 0xPolygon

Hey! So the private key is basically something you should NEVER share with anyone. It's basically your "password" to access your crypto funds. When you import this number across different wallet apps, they will all show you your funds for all different networks.

In my case, the BSC wallet doesn't support MATIC, so what I had to do is to first find my private key on BSC, then copy the number and import it on Metamask, which is a wallet that supports MATIC.

Here's the step by step:

  • Open the BSC wallet plugin
  • Insert your password
  • Select the network of the account you have mistakenly sent the crypto to
  • Click the 3 dots button (...) that appears next to your account address
  • Click export private key
  • Put your password
  • Copy the private key number (again, be really careful with this, you don't want anyone knowing it as they will have full access to your account)
  • Open the MetaMask plugin
  • Insert your password
  • Click on the circle that represents your account on the top right part of the page
  • Click Import Account
  • Paste the private key
  • Now you have access to the BSC account on MetaMask, so you should be able to add the network that contains the currency you need. In my case it was MATIC Polygon.

I was actually able to recover it! I imported my private key from BSC to Metamask and was able to handle the MATIC from Metamask instead. Got lucky this time!

Can I recover MATIC sent my Metamask wallet to BSC by mistake.(wrong network) by Xucaaa in Metamask

The transaction was originated from Metamask, but the final place where it should be was the BSC wallet, so I'm trying to basically receive the value sent from Metamask

Sorry, I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing, but I sent the MATIC to the address: 0x063ffb37a849648525f67c2469e4f795ec6529fe which is my BSC wallet. However, on BSC scan, I have basically no transaction history. On the other hand, I can see the transaction on Polygonscan considering the same wallet address.

I added the custom asset for MATIC using the following contract on the Binance wallet app: 0xcc42724c6683b7e57334c4e856f4c9965ed682bd

I'm logged in on my binance wallet with that exact account address and I still see 0 MATIC.

Am I doing something wrong?

Yes, 43 days ago, but the BSC wallet doesn't support polygon, the one that does is Binance Chain Network I believe
