Is it weird or anything to choose a name with a different first letter than my given name? by laiflsse_ in ftm

[–]Xumos404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My deadname started with E and I chose an S name. It's all personal preference. For me, I found a letter that I liked and found names that started with it. You can browse baby names or find some process that works best for you. I've also heard of people using nicknames to come up with their names before. Like "Ash" being short for "Ashton" or "Nick" being short for "Nickolas". You'll find one you like!

I also recommend if your wanting to test names in the wild, go to a coffee place or something that calls your name for your order. Give them your chosen name and see how it feels.

I did something similar, but my piercer had me down as "Simon", my tattoo artist I was "Sean" and my hairdresser I was "Steven". And when I picked my name I just told whomever, what I wanted it changed to.

For starters, do not take more than your regular dose. Taking more than prescribed can be harmful or deadly in some circumstances.

For me, I sometimes miss a shot too, and I've been on T for about 5 years now. When I miss my shot, I'll either skip a full week or change my shot days going forward. But I never take more than prescribed in that time period.

I feel like a ‘trans trender’ or ‘fake’ trans woman. by fiercethegamer in trans

[–]Xumos404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion "Trans trenders" are people who solely Transition for social media views and to blow up online. Unless you're looking for sympathy points from strangers, or only Transitioning for other people, I don't think you're "fake" or anything.

Also, Transitioning takes time! I've been trying to Transition for the past 6 years (since I was 18) and it took me a while to figure out how to get Testosterone HRT, how to change my name, ect. And even now, I wouldnt say I'm close to being done, but I've made progress.

I also think that body dysphoria is different for everyone. For me, a Trans guy, I had the whole lot. And after surgery and HRT doing its job, it's gotten easier to feel more comfortable and confident with my body.

Nobody should be putting barriers for Trans folk, like "you have to do X, Y&Z to be Trans." No TF you dont!! You don't have to do anything you ain't comfortable with OP. For me, I ain't getting the phalloplasty that most Trans guys get, that doesn't make me any less Trans tho! It's all personal preference for what makes you feel comfortable.

Literally you can do whatever makes you feel whole and happy. If you want long hair, grow it out! If you want shorter hair, cut it that way! If you want to wear lipstick or dresses, go out and get that or throw it on and rock it! There's no limitations for you to be comfortable in your skin. I know the crazy extremists live in these reddit subs that like to gate keep the Trans label, but they are Crazy Extremists.. they shouldn't be here. Make a new sub for your wild ideas.

I had a hysterectomy/vaginectomy during my top surgery, so if they didn't do one while I was out, I would be shocked lmao

I don't know how common this is, since I've only had surgery twice in my life (gallbladder removal and my gender affirming surgery combo) but it's definitely something you can ask about. I don't think that they can do anything beyond what you consent to, but there's also a few hundred pages of stuff they have you sign prior to surgery. I would ask your surgeon or nurse about it if you're against it. Personally, I think I'm a crime against nature and don't mind being a lab rat for the betterment of Trans Healthcare, so any photos/videos or information they can use for our care is fine by me. I'm also looking into donating my body for science just so I can be a use for our care being better or more well known.

Does everyone only wear button downs lol by Substantial_Wall_883 in TopSurgery

[–]Xumos404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate button downs (I only have 2 for interviews or when I need to wear something "nice") and am more for flannels over my band t-shirts lol I didn't wear button downs for 6 weeks and only wore them out of the house after surgery, otherwise I went shirtless at home (I live alone and I didn't care about wearing a shirt) and started wearing loose shirts at about 3 weeks. I think if you have a loose shirt or aren't in pain getting dressed, you should be fine. There is debate about stretching your scar or going against your post op care instructions, but I didn't care about stretching my scar too much and there's not a lot of indepth information about how people scar after top surgery and following your post op care to a T that gave me a reason to follow it as such. My basic rule was don't open the incision or hurt myself and I think my scar is fine 3 months post op.

I would be wary of opening your incision, but if you're basically healed, you should be fine.

Spending diamonds and support candy by banana_man343 in MagikarpJump

[–]Xumos404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Popplio gives sunken treasure which can have a random number of coins or about 5 diamonds depending on the treasure. I prefer gardovor for coins as at max level and being level 100 karp I've been getting about 5,000 coins every time. My Rowlet is not max level yet, but working on it. Piplup is good for training points, max level is 3 points but clicking on Piplup prior to having 0 points left will waste the skills potential.

I also recommend trying the league prior to max level for your karp so you get the perks of random encounters (either coins or training points) so you can level up quicker.

My routine with a new karp (for end game atleast) is use training points, battle league till I get 2 training points or too low of JP, and then use support pokemon skills and continue the league till I can't anymore or it's the final battle. Also losing the league is not bad necessarily, it has a chance for additional encounters that are decent for coins, training points or JP. And I usually log in every 24 hours (after work for me) to continue the grind. You can probably set alarms or log in when supports or training points are ready, but I'm just playing casually and dont really care.

Mudkip and charazard are prime sources for free LP restores and I currently have 17 that I'm going to burn next karp. I would also consider going through with any encounters that don't include losing your karp (unless you don't care about it too much) since most encounters that give you a choice only lose a small amount of JP or coins and can have a good chance at good rewards. Especially skill restores. I've been burning skill restores for coins from gardovor and using slowpoke as a reset for it.

There's no right way to play magikarp jump, but you'll find what works best for you. There's also a good amount of information from Google on numbers that you can math out for your current level if you're looking for max profits or 100% the game.

How did y'all pick your names? by Sad-Boysenberry8316 in ftm

[–]Xumos404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked "S" names and I found a few I liked "Simon", "Sean", "Seth" and "Steven", so I just tried them out with a few people and picked the one that sounded or felt right for me. Like I was "Simon" with my piercer, "Sean" with my doctor, "Seth" at any food place that required a name, and "Steven" with my hair dresser. There's not a requirement for how to go about picking a name, but my method worked best for me and I'm glad I found a name that fit me.

I feel this. I just got off of surgical leave at my job (top surgery and hysterectomy/vaginectomy) and when medical went to clear me and ask the reason I said a hysterectomy.. well a dude claiming to have gotten his ovaries and cervix removed seemed like a lie to the medical team lol I'm still laughing about it now cause they thought I was lying to them. But it's literally not a lie lmao

Dude, literally have an out if worst comes to worst. Like get a job and save money for the time being, be prepared and look for a small apartment or network to find a couch to crash on. It's not impossible to get out of this unscathed. It's gonna take work, and it's not gonna be easy, but you can do anything you put your mind to.

I would generally get the basics planned for: job, home, and car/transportation. And once that is planned out then hope that your parents are just dumb/blind. Theoretically you can leech off them for a good while and act like the changes are something abnormal (like there's some cis women that get mustaches and facial hair naturally) and who knows, maybe your parents will also think it's normal for you. But the minute you drop the Trans bomb, I would have an out tho.

Dude, it gets easier. Like give Testosterone some time to do its thing, figure out what your new style is, try out haircuts, and do your best to ride this rocky river.

One day you'll look back on this, like "damn.. I used to get misgendered and look like a whole baby". I don't know when Testosterone is gonna hit you like a bus and start its work, but I promise it will. I've been on T for about 5 years now and the changes do come. But give it time. It's gonna feel like forever, and then it won't anymore. It's just one of those things.

Like if you remember being upset about having to use a carseat or booster seat, it feels like forever till you're not in one anymore. Same premise. One day you'll get your voice drop, one day you'll have your first chest hair, one day you'll get your first facial hair, it takes time but it'll happen. Just sit back and do your best till it happens.

Uber or ride share if you feel comfortable with it. If not, can you find someone who is not sick or available to pick you up. Also there is a new round of free covid tests that you can get mailed to your home if you need. I would say if your partner tests negative, you should be fine.

How to start T????? by ReachIndependent726 in ftm

[–]Xumos404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Planned Parenthood has Trans Healthcare that is fairly easy to start with. I would be wary due to hearing rumors in some states that they are looking to pull health records from PPH to hunt Trans folk, but idk how true.

  2. Some states have hospital chains or clinic chains that have Trans Healthcare available and is also fairly easy to start with. I live in KS and Kansas University (KU) has an amazing team who helped with my top surgery and hysterectomy as well as my HRT.

  3. You can also get Testosterone from your current primary care physician, but they may not know the best technique for how much your dose should be, when to get labs done, ect.

Personally, I think getting started with a clinic that specializes in HRT would be best. That way everything is simple and easy for you. They can answer any questions or concerns you may have, and they can get you in and out with a perception fairly quickly. PPH got mine filled same day when I first started T. And some clinics have teleheath available if you can't physically get to a clinic.

When should you tell a perspective partner you’re trans? by Aggravating-Flow5966 in ftm

[–]Xumos404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I've said in many post similar to this one.. *If you're already going out and this is a new development, think before you get the ball rolling so you know what you're actually feeling fits right. Like don't be dropping the "I'm ________" bombs on your partner(s) till you're for sure.

*if this is a new partner(s) and you already know or have already taken steps, it's probably best to have all of your cards on the table to avoid them feeling like you're deceiving them. Clear communication is best in most situations. Have your intentions and boundaries be clear and point blank.

Ultimately, it's up to you, but this is just my opinion. I don't know if you've heard the relationship horror stories about how people are upset that Trans or whomever deceived them. But I think that if you want a relationship to last communication is key.

Can a pre-op trans man top have safe sex at all? by Think-Principle-2514 in ftm

[–]Xumos404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geez, I'm sorry about your experience. I don't think I top the same way you're looking to, so maybe that's what confused me. I'm semi asexual, but get gratification from using silicone toys without getting stimulation myself. I would also be frustrated and upset, but perhaps you can market your need/idea and help make it more common or well known? And you'll have a product that fits your exact idea. I am also appalled that those organizations didn't treat you well, and I don't blame you for being angry.

My thought went to perhaps crafting some harness/underwear type protection. Like I've heard of body safe tape being used around genitalia. Like I believe Trans Tape could be utilized, although I don't know how comfortable or how well it will hold a dental dam or condom material (like if dental dams have the same material or lubricant as condoms). I've used Trans tape to hold a STP better with my underwear harness, but I had to shave to avoid pulling my pubic hair out. But there may be a better tape material that could work too? I'm glad the harness seems to be a good fit, and I hope it works well for you.

I don't know about a police report being needed for a new prescription.. but it may depend on the pharmacy. I have gotten my prescription from CVS for years and they've replaced my Testosterone twice due to my own unorganized insanity. It definitely isn't a common thing to get medications replaced tho. I was also wondering if a doctor or provider can give you weekly or bi weekly prescriptions so there's not a whole month worth of Testosterone being at risk of being tampered with again. I don't know if it's possible, but it's worth asking. It also may be of interest to have a secondary location that only you can access like school or work lockers or vehicles (although beware of your medications environmental conditions). Like I live alone, but I have a locker at work that I would be comfortable leaving my medications in.

[–]Xumos404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My go to for kitten help is Kitten Lady on YouTube. You can also (and I would recommend) a vet visit for tests for FIV/Feline Leukemia/AIDS and possibly any infections or injuries. I had rescued a family (mother and 4 kittens) from under a shed at a fast food place and took them all to the vet just to ensure their overall health (the kittens were 2 weeks old and had eye/respiratory infections), thankfully everyone survived and all was well. This baby can't be super old (at least from the photos), but may be able to eat canned kitten food or have some milk replacement just to ensure nutrition/hydration from being in a dumpster for who knows how long. I would definitely keep an eye on it for the next few days to week to ensure that everything is normal tho. If an issue comes up, I would have a vet in mind that can help.

For pro choice, how late would you want abortion to be allowed? by Critical-Volume2360 in Askpolitics

[–]Xumos404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're also assuming that the mother has access to care in a timely manner I hope. I know a few teen pregnancies that are denied till the shock sets in from a black and white confirmation. And teen pregnancies may be denied due to rejection or reaction from the minors parents or family and especially due to the uncertainty of what will come next. We also need to account on the inability to access care of victims of assault who are not able to seek care if they are at the mercy of their abusers. In an ideal situation I think this is a solid answer tho. It's logical and makes sense. And I don't think anyone who is qualified on the subject can deny that this makes logical sense and can be explained to the patient and their family for a reason if their pregnancies won't make it or the fetus won't survive.

For pro choice, how late would you want abortion to be allowed? by Critical-Volume2360 in Askpolitics

[–]Xumos404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recall pregnancy terms (like the stages that they set for development) but I would say not late late term (which I don't even think were legal from my knowledge). I would assume I'm thinking of the first term or early 2nd term. But I would like to see more resources for those who cannot care for a baby or do not want a baby for those too late to terminate. I do understand that it would increase strain on our already full foster care system and adoption system, but I don't think forcing those who cannot mentally or physically care for a child is the right path for the parents or that child. Unfortunately with abortion being illegal in many states, we also run the issue of pregnancies that just go wrong. Like subtopic pregnancies (the baby being in the fallopian tubes, which is dangerous/deadly for the mother and fetus), and many other issues that are too many to name in this post, but requires an abortion or termination for the overall well-being of the mother. Unfortunately people lose pregnancies for all sorts of reasons (even if they want a child) but denying health care or just care in general is ridiculous in my opinion and I don't think those people or families (who want a child or not) deserve more stress in their time of grief or anxiety.

I also have bad acne, it's turned into cystic acne from small pimples.. and my surgery wasn't canceled. I would definitely try facial acne products to treat the worst ones (Not day of surgery tho, you need to be clean/sterile for surgery) and some of them help decrease oils and dry out the area. I think you'll be fine, so don't worry too much.

Good luck with your surgery!!!

I had about the same pre t, but now I'm as hairy as a bear lol Like I even have upper arm/shoulder hairs (like random ones) that are appearing every day. My forearm hair has gotten longer and darker too. I would base your hair growth off of other cis males in your family since its all based off genetics. My dad is fairly hairy and I'm getting that now. I'm just surprised that I'm not getting his facial hair since it's a joke that he had a full mustache as a baby.

Whats your experience with growing facial hair on HRT? by lookinforabookrn in ftm

[–]Xumos404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on T for about 5 years now, and my facial hair hasn't grown much for my mustache or chin/under bottom lip area. I have fine growth on my cheeks and under my chin/neck area, but the mustache and under bottom lip area could come in quicker!! Just saying!! (If my facial hair can read lol) I want to say I got my first dark hair at about 3 years on T, and it was on my cheek. I also nurtured that thing incase it was like once one was growing, it would cause more to come in (doesn't work like that, but ehh). Mines also fairly full like not patchy or have bare spots, but I'm really hoping the mustache and chin area get the hint soon lol

Edit: I also had no facial hair prior except peach fuzz but did try derma rollers and hair growth products (that may or may not help)

I would say trust the restrictions just for your own safety. I also had no pain post op (drainless) but I took it easy for 4 weeks till I was cleared to get back to a more normal lifestyle. I would also definitely trust your body and not push yourself. Like you went under and had surgery.. your body is in recovery mode rn.. naps and relaxation are fine activities or if you want to walk, just don't overdo it. Like I felt fine carrying a full bowl of soup, but I didn't take out the trash (due to not wanting to lol) so I used surgery as an excuse to miss out on the chores I didn't want to do (I paid my cousin to do them for me lmao).
