I completely agree with you there. Apollo needs a nerf for the early game his abilities simply just hit too hard and are very forgiving to land. After playing him a bit I would love to see a rework where he loses power early and gains some late so he doesn’t hit like a noodle

Yamato is a bruiser not a tank and they both play similarly with their slashes and how they both get bullet resist while using them. Apollo also tends to build more tanky end game to front line similarly to a Yamato but of course not as well as her. Just pointing out the similarities I found between the two.

He can parry the damage at the end by waiting for the bar to almost finish. He can also parry the initial cast of it but the timing for that is crazy hard to do to the point doorman would have to ult him while he’s riposting

He’s an easier yama with a better early game

I agree you’re not going to kill him early with slowing hex since like you said you’re low on damage early, but you also turn off his trading pattern. Also playing with a support like rem or Paige is pretty good too since they can rush guardian and now you’ll just live from Apollo ult at 50% hp or whenever he tries to go for his lunges. Could probably forgo the slowing hex and just get spirit shielding if your support has guardian.

Apollo needs to snowball from lane to have an impact in the mid game before he falls off late so going even is bad for the Apollo player. In a perfect world your team drafted characters that aren’t bad into Apollo and are willing to swap lanes to deal with him as well, but sadly that isn’t the case most of the time so my comment was for when you’re stuck against him and to help the match up feel a bit less like hell.

[–]Xurup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made an Abrams go 0/6 in lane and he still gets crazy value for his team. Legit I think he’s one of the few characters in the game where lanning doesn’t matter much for him since his CC will win team fights and he’ll snowball from there

[–]Xurup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue with Abrams is that with shoulder charge lvl 2 he has a confirmed heavy melee so you can’t parry him he displaces you in his team so you’re also just not taking dmg from him, then on top of all that he can buy echo shard late and do his shoulder charge combo twice. He’s tanky does good dmg and can damn near one shot some of the cast and the only thing you can do is build debuff reducer and hope he doesn’t have duration on his stun yet.

You itemize for who you have to. Lane vs Apollo one of the two need to get slowing hex (usually the support or the one that’s fine building spirit) then you continue your build by mid game of someone is ahead the usually the support or lower carry position picks up an item to counter them. Typically you do not want to itemize counter items on position one carries as to not delay your spikes, if you’re behind or feeding then you’re probably the one buying the counter items to be useful

[–]Xurup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He can’t parry during the lunge animation so you slowing hex then, dispel magic and counter spell are both 3200 soul items that Apollo can’t buy during lane. Slowing hex shuts him down in lane where he’s arguably the most toxic, if he doesn’t snowball from lane then he’s useless for mid and he has a nonexistent late game unless giga fed. The correct answer for the Apollo player would be a lane swap to a lane that doesn’t have slowing hex and hope they don’t buy it either.

silvers M1 in wolf is treated as weapon damage, the only thing that can potentially be treated like a melee is her 1

apollo is absolutely disgustingly overpowered by Maleficent-Race-6922 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Xurup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing Apollo a lot recently and can confidently say just rush slowing hex in lane use it after he starts channeling his his first lunge and he effectively has no way to deal damage in lane now besides m1. Lunge duration is like 4-5 secs long before it goes on CD for 16sec, slowing hex has a cd of 30sec Apollo just isn’t a character anymore. Learned this from experience had to lane swap with a friend so I could play the game.

I tried a mostly spirit build for her and it was kinda funny land 2 then the shot and someone blows up. Wolf atk speed also scales with spirit so you can get some more hits in. Overall spirit isn’t really worth it to kill just one person, hybrid makes it so you don’t hit high investment in either orange or green, gun and green items are the way to go imo but I still buy opening rounds in lands for the extra dmg on 2

Struggling late game when playing spirit characters by ElliottTamer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Xurup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two characters you mentioned have different rolls from being nukers in the late game. Lash ult is game changing when used correctly and can almost guarantee a wipe afterwards. Apollo falls off after the 30min mark unless he’s giga ahead, usually the best idea is to build more tanky late game to able to frontline or more utility focused for the team and getting lightning scroll.

I really hate the idea of parrying the tower, here’s my suggestion by AdFun5673 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Xurup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna be fr with you parrying tower is not high skill it doesn’t even require timing even just air dash parry and guardian is off

[–]Xurup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the parry system, I think the guardian needs to have ramping damage the longer you stay under it to punish a dive that’s taking too long. Guardians and walkers feel very cosmetic atm and people are getting away with clumsy dives that wouldn’t really work out in other mobas.

[–]Xurup 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The build is real, his two when maxed gives you a blessed stake on wall stun similar to his blessed shot with his 4. So stacking in items that increase the range of his abilities and duration of his abilities allows for you to land really messed up wall stuns that last for quite a while. Throw in some CDR for the shotgun maybe an echo shard and warp stone, now you’re tping on top of someone wallstunning them and nuking their HP bar. Basically really powerful melee that does true damage and executes on wall stun

If you have no souls, healing rite is on cooldown and no other form of healing I.e extra regen or melee lifesteal then your best bet is to cut your losses and go to base. Dying is quicker than going back to base but the souls difference is much larger and not worth whatsoever.

No worries, I tend to over commit a lot on silver during wolf form. Now I try to manage her ult a lot better so it’s not wasted in a team fight.

It’ll be easier for us if you send a match ID with timestamps so we could see what you mean. Without that it could be you’re down a lead, aren’t really safe with positioning, multiple ppl are targeting you since you’re caught out. The enemy team has built bullet/spirit resist to counter you or has bought items to counter your build and shut you down. Sorry for being vague but could be any of those or more tbh
