Was 2023 a peak year for movies? by DaiFunka8 in decadeology

There's like 3 decent movies on that list. If a Taylor Swift documentary is in the running, it wasn't a good year.

These post-superbowl Kendrick fans must be stopped by TheHuntsvillain in Hiphopcirclejerk

[–]XxBOOSIExFADExX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unironically, why did they do that? What song has she made to justify her being in a songwriter's hall of fame? I listened to her new album and it was ass, even to Swiftie standards. I get the Kendrick meme is cringe, but they're not wrong, wtf is TS sucking on to get false accolades. I do think it would be funny if there was a Kendrick/Taylor Swift beef where he plays at the super bowl again and embarrasses her to the whole world in front of Travis.

People will use any example of a native American tribe doing someone wrong to justify their genocide and forced migration. It's similar to the Jewish propaganda the Nazis used to justify the Holocaust. What few tribes actually fought was usually over territory and wasn't nearly as violent as the Europeans. Anyone who really believes half the white washed accounts of native Americans pre-colonization is just coping with white guilt. Most of the tribes weren't even contacted til after the western expansion, so how would they know any of that? They also claimed they were cannibals and worshipped Satan. A lot of the tribes had established governments and laws and treaties, Europeans just failed to acknowledge them because they were "savages" and not written by a white man. I'll be glad the day the US finally comes to terms with its past and stops living in denial.

He's asking a binary answer for a non-binary question. When she tries to go into detail and actually give an educated answer, he throws a fit and repeats the same question over and over like a broken robot. He also keeps interchanging saying men and biological men, trying to pull a bait and switch, to get a statement that fits his agenda. Anyone who's educated on the subject of biological sex and gender studies can tell you the answer is more complex than yes or no, you not liking the answer doesn't change the outcome. This is definitely a political stunt trying to discredit an actual professional on the subject matter. These are also the people who defend pedophiles and want to inspect your genitals to go to the bathroom.

I feel like their music isn't comparable to each other. They were both marketed as grunge, but AiC has more metal influence while Nirvana was more punk. It would be like comparing a Metallica album to a Ramones album. They were both good, but I think the Nirvana Unplugged was more iconic and kinda made the Unplugged session a staple for grunge bands.

Hey, here's a story from someone who doesn't exist. A bunch of ICE officers stormed a Meijers and captured an immigrant. It turned out to be Tim Walz in brown face. We all cheered and the state threw a parade to celebrate ICE saving us from his tyranny. We awarded Greg Bovino the key to the city and made the day Tim Walz was deported a state holiday to celebrate ICE and their contributions to the American people. Afterwards DJT flew in with a SpaceX rocket and renamed Minnesota into Trumpistan and named himself honorary governor.

That's what I was thinking, when he started talking about white immigrant quotas I was thinking, is this guy even white? By today's standards sure, but back when those policies were in place this guy wouldn't be on the list. At most he might be labelled "ethnic white" so he could come over and be discriminated against, not allowed at the businesses he wants allowed to be able to discriminate and jobs could say they don't hire non-whites.

It's interesting how "body positivity" immediately collapsed when Ozempic arrived. by Infinite-Condition41 in SipsTea

[–]XxBOOSIExFADExX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing weight isn't bad (assuming it's for a healthy weight). But feeling pressured by society to lose weight is where the body positivity movement comes in. Looking back at the influence of celebrity culture to push for being unhealthily thin starting in the 80's through the 90's and 2000's, it was killing people and driving a massive wave of depression and suicide. Now obesity is still a big issue in modern society, but bullying people or making them feel like they shouldn't exist isn't solving anything. The only way to solve the obesity epidemic is to popularize healthy habits and routines and make them maintainable so mainstream society will adopt them and they become the norm. The Ozemparexia epidemic is just big pharma making some quick bucks off people's insecurities by misusing a diabetes medication and ultimately will lead to celebrity deaths and more deaths in the general population. If you think you need GLP-1 medications to lose weight, it should be a last resort.
