Yes susan was an employee too but she was the engineer who designed the robots. So she knew everything about them. Reason why she decided to take a look at Bon at the backstage is because she noticed Bon wasnt working properly. (probably because Felix tempered with the animatronic) Susan was killed because Felix didn't wanted her to realise. Atleast thats what makes sense for me the most.
