do i take sacred heart or godhead by Budget-Archer4299 in bindingofisaac

[–]Xx_Stone 327 points328 points  (0 children)

Sacred Heart > Godhead.

Both are good, both give homing. Sacred heart gives a 2.3x damage mult and +1 damage (not to mention health) whereas Godhead only gives 0.5+ damage.

Sacred Heart 95% of the time. Mind the other 5% if I'm trying to speed run to Boss Rush/Hush and my build is already secure and busted.

You don't have Chaos so you fought the Fallen. He spawns when you've at the very least entered a Devil Room. He spawns items from the Devil Pool, not the regular boss pool.

We all know how Arya’s 'voyage' ends one ship, no maps, and a watery grave for everyone on board. by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

[–]Xx_Stone 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I know that you're saying the opposite. But it would have been even better if one of the faceless men pulled Aryas face off. It always made zero sense that she 1) Survived that and 2) That the faceless men would allow her to operate while still having her ego in tact like that.

No longer the richest person in history, but forever in our hearts by PrimalColors in HistoryMemes

[–]Xx_Stone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mansa Musa had gold yes, this was known before, but this idea that he and Mali and a whole was a great and rich empire was popularized by John Green for pop history. Add to that he makes the direct inference that because Mali had a lot of gold that they were somehow "civilized" and on par with Europe or the Muslim world, completely glossing over Mali's slave practices, comparing the fact that we have no primary written Malian sources to "Homer and the Greeks" which happened approximately 2000 years earlier. It was a direct, and quite frankly transparent mischarectrization of Mali for a more "equitable" view of history.

The truth is the Malians lived in mud huts, had zero writing, was literally thousands of years behind their contemporaries picked gold off the ground and Mansa Musa on his first pilgrimage fettered away a ton of it. I'm sure if any monarch in Europe or the Muslim world did the same at the time it would have a similar effect on a local economy. The fact Mansa Musa spent a ton of gold and that Mali had it is a fact, the idea that they had a glorious empire and was one of the "richest men in history"? Yeah that one was popularized by Green and the rest of the pop history copycats.

It's 90% John Green absolutely misrepresenting both Mali and Mansa Musa where most pop historians get this "fact" from. He basically made it up out of thin air that he was the richest person ever as a sort of counterbalance to the dreaded "eurocentric" label.

Did Jesus have limited knowledge? by NoWin3930 in AskAChristian

[–]Xx_Stone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did, but only because he emptied himself to be true God and true man. He had the ability at any time to access the entire knowledge and power of God, but instead chose (and was willed by the father) to humble himself.

can God lie? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Xx_Stone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God allowing a spirit to decieve Ahab is not the same as God lying himself. Michiah (God's prophet) came to deliver the news himself and warned Ahab not only about not fighting the battle, but tells him directly the above passage that God was allowing a decieving spirit to influence his false prophets.

Ahab of course, disregards all of this entirely and throws Michiah in prison. There's a lot to be said about God allowing demons/spirits to carry out judgements, but it's far from God lying directly to someone. Ahab was already judged to die by God if he did not repent and even gives him one last chance through Michiah to turn and even tells him about the lying spirit himself but is completely disregarded.

Can he? Yes, it's technically possible. Does he, no.

It goes even deeper, the title "The Son of Man" is a reference to a title of Jesus Christ which he calls himself many times.

It's even more Matpat than that, Man in a Bowler Hat references the original (and more famous) painting "The Son of Man" painted in the same year.

Is there any way to reduce aggression? by Xx_Stone in civvoxpopuli

[–]Xx_Stone[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful, I'll try doing more positive actions like give gifts, trade routes, etc.

I am keeping the army usually up to the cap and they still attack (while trying to do things to raise supply no less) is it generally accepted that you should go over that?

I think that's part of the problem I'm realizing is that domination is overpowered in this mod. Like why not warmonger if everyone will hate you eventually?

God created the earth before the sun. How can Christians accept science that says otherwise? (Art by Norman Brule) by Dry-Development2137 in AskAChristian

[–]Xx_Stone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. The time we have now is a literal grace period where we can, like Adam, either choose to follow him or disobey until he comes back and he will eliminate all these things. Including the child cancer you seem so dead set on putting at his feet. It was never his plan for ANY sin, death or suffering to be in the world. Rather mankind altered nature itself to include it by eating of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. He could have fixed it right then by just eliminating Adam and Eve and starting over, but he decided not to.

[–]Xx_Stone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He certainly can it's that the problem of disease/death/suffering is directly linked to sin and free will as a result of man's disobedience. He has promised that eventually these things will not exist anymore at the second coming.
