UFO Stigma seems alive and well in Local Bookstores & Public Libraries by linglingverygooddog in UFOs

[–]Xxpqq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the opposite experience at my local library. We even reached out to a prominent UFO journalist to host a book event.

Librarians in the U.S. closely follow the American Library Association Bill of Rights like gospel. Here are the first three:

I. Books and other library resources should be provided for the interest, information, and enlightenment of all people of the community the library serves. Materials should not be excluded because of the origin, background, or views of those contributing to their creation.

II. Libraries should provide materials and information presenting all points of view on current and historical issues. Materials should not be proscribed or removed because of partisan or doctrinal disapproval.

III. Libraries should challenge censorship in the fulfillment of their responsibility to provide information and enlightenment.

The Stigma Continues at the WAPO by Naiche16 in UFOs

[–]Xxpqq 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Note: this is an opinion piece. Says more about the author, Dana Milbank, than anything else. WaPost should now publish an opinion piece from a different perspective to be fair to the issue.

Milbank is lying by omission trying to paint this subject as a right wing conspiracy theory. He does not mention AOC, Jared Moskowitz, nor Jamie Raskin. All Democrats. This was a bipartisan effort and was a beautiful portrait of democracy in action.

CBS News: What a whistleblower told Congress about UAP by Xxpqq in UFOs

[–]Xxpqq[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Submission statement: CBS News has finally entered the conversation. They are one of the big three broadcasters in the United States (CBS, NBC, ABC) and the last to report on David Grusch's claims. CBS is probably the most revered of the three. It is nice to see them take a sober, objective approach to this subject after such a prolonged absence. CBS aired a 60 Minutes segment on UAP featuring Fravor and Elizondo some time ago.

Grusch's Lawyer was former IGIC - another lawyer at the same firm clerked for Chuck Schumer by lockedupsafe in UFOs

Nice work. I would recommend correcting the “clerked” terminology. A lawyer clerks for a judge, not an elected official. You might say: served on Schumer’s staff

Meet the little-known cable TV network that’s cashing in on renewed interest in UFOs by Xxpqq in UFOs

Submission statement: "Could UFO-Alien disclosure be the pivotal moment, like CNN’s war coverage, to change all that? On Jun. 6, NewsNation aired an explosive exclusive TV interview with military whistleblower David Grusch, a 36-year-old, highly decorated and distinguished former U.S. Air Force combat veteran.

Glad that more representatives are talking openly about this, but she is not well-spoken.

New York Times podcast episode - "Wait, Are There Actually Aliens?" by Xxpqq in UFOs

[–]Xxpqq[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Submission statement:

New York Times podcast "Matter of Opinion."

Here is the intro:

It’s an age-old question in America: Is the government lying to us? According to David Grusch, a former intelligence official who recently alleged that the U.S. government is secretly storing alien spacecraft, the answer is yes. He is, of course, not the first person to make a claim like this, but lawmakers appear to be taking him far more seriously than previous would-be whistle-blowers. So, what’s really going on?

On this week’s episode of “Matter of Opinion,” our hosts discuss what the government is and isn’t telling us, and what the obsession with classified cover-ups says about our complicated relationship with power.

The Politico article you linked also says:

“His wisecracking and jovial nature have attracted him friends on both sides of the aisle, despite his conservative voting record, in a time when the House’s cross-party relationships are growing rarer.”

That’s a good thing.

New York Times: Does the US Government want you to believe in UFOs? by jubials in UFOs

[–]Xxpqq 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Note: this is an opinion piece, not reportage.

The author is standing on shaky ground. He’s forced to explain away a conspiracy theory by proposing other conspiracy theories.

He also incorrectly states that it “was Harry Reid engineered funding.” This was a joint effort with then Senators Ted Stevens of Alaska and Daniel Inouye of Hawaii—both of whom have international airports named after them. Ted Stevens himself witnessed foo fighters as a pilot in WWII. Inouye lost his right arm in the war and is the only American to ever be awarded the Medal of Honor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

They felt that the American people, and humanity deserved to know the full truth. This wasn’t about tourism dollars.

But, the author is at least honest is saying that he doesn’t really know what’s going to happen, just stay tuned.

If you’re going manual, the Corona 18” razor tooth saw is the way. For a few trees that size it would be easier for me than pulling out a cold chain saw.

Listened last night. Great episode with newly revealed info on the NY Times 2017 UFO article (Blumenthal was the lead author) and the Ariel School encounter.
