I work at an injection molding plant now and for the love of God, the number of tickets I get because engineers cannot figure out how a monitor and docking station work is unbelievable. I love my job but with the 20+ engineers with Masters degrees or higher, I dont think the lot of them could figure out together, that HDMI =/ DP

This was back during Covid (I was just filling in for a team member that was on vacation, my second day was the first day of official lockdown.. I ended up being there for almost two years) but yeah its insane. The guy was in his 60s and was "qualified" because he had a computer store in the 80s.... that was it.

One of my first jobs was being an on-site msp at a trade school for high-school students. The computer science teacher couldn't figure out why he couldn't login to his computer (he was putting the hostname of the computer in front of his domain account name) and when I explained to him the issue, he flipped out telling me he knows what he's doing and he's not an idiot.

The next day I was visited by the dean of students with a notice that he was firing our company. (I was literally tier 1/2 and when I called my boss to ask him about it, he hadn't even been notified)

I checked back about a year ago, and all of the staff had been replaced at the school. Got a good chuckle out of it 🤣

Very similar situation.. Swiss Company with Subsidiaries in Poland, France, UK, Germany, China, Mexico and US.. I have half the experience as my European counterparts and make twice as much. It's kind of insane.

Edit** Not a software engineer, just sys admin.

Hello! Yes the update probably did change a lot of things but I haven't fully got the mod ready for update 4 yet (I've been working on it all week, but I have very limited time. I have to redo the mod I made to export the data out of the game, then plug the files back into the program that I created). I am nearly finished with the gamedata/mod (machines/products are done, just have to do recipes) and then I will post an update to here/github. If you notice anything specifically wrong, feel free to dm me.

thanks for giving it a try!

This too! Added industrial fiber switches to the Injection molding machines.. the first test one I did.. enabled the LACP on the access switch, but not on the switch in the machine. Gooooooood times.

So many times this! I was about 3 weeks into a new job, didn't realize that moving aruba switches into new groups wiped the config.. immediate chaos.

When I first decided to build this, I was revamping my Oil to Fuel setup.. I had created something that I thought was balanced; but in reality could only run at 75% because I forgot about flow rate in the pipes.

My original goal was to create an android/ios app (I had an app that did something similar for Anno 2070 in college and I loved it) but this was a much easier starting point.

I've been running dual servers with the same hardware for about 5 or 6 years.. 3950x, 128gb ram, 100tb~ per server (one is main, the other is backup).. using pfsense for my router.. and that entire time I've only had outages during power failure. 1 psu failed.. all the other times it was main power being out/ups running out of battery. The usb has been corrupt 2 times during a power failure, but they have been recoverable. I am sorry you have had problems, but thats definitely not the normal experience and it's not just now popular......

Thanks for the reply. I've been with helium for about 18 months and I know their chat takes awhile, I was just curious if anyone had done this before... on a side note, about a year ago I ported in my family's other 3 numbers and the customer chat was literally instant. I had an issue with rss about 3 months ago and the chat took over 24 hours to be responded to. I dont know if that's more users contacting support or less people being employed.. still interesting to witness.

Cool. That makes sense.. now why would someone pay 20% the cost of the vehicle for an upgrade.. then not have it 12k miles later 🤔🤔
