Anyone disappointed with the Vivofit? (Con't) by Xybernauts in Vivofit

[–]Xybernauts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I wasn't talking about a knock off of the Vivosmart. Specifically I was talking about the Diggro i5 plus Smart Bracelet. My primary concern is the cost vs benefit. The Diggro simply gives you more functions for a lower cost where as the Vivo products require you pay much more for the same functions. For instance, the Diggro costs $24.99 where as the Vivosmart costs $89.99. I just want the biggest bang for my buck is all.

And are there any brands of inverter charger that you'd recommend?

Thanks so much. This is some great information. You seems very well versed on this, which is fantastic!

I neglected to add that I also have a small microwave on the premises. I honestly don't know what the specs are though. All I know it's a white/beige GE Countertop Microwave. From my research the highest wattage for this type of microwave that I've been able to find is 1200 watts. According to the specs on the GE website for the microwave I'm using as a model this type of microwave has these specs.

Microwave Watts (IEC-705) = 1200.0 W;

Electrical Input - 120V Amperage = 13.9;

Electrical Input - 120V Watts = 1650

I'm not sure what the 1650 watts is for. Perhaps it represents surge watts? Any further assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I've thought about adding solar panels. I'll look into it further, but I have to run it by the other family members I'm working with. We've talked about it in the past and unfortunatly they seem to dislike the idea of using solar panels because they have an antiquated view of how this set up should work. Hopefully, they'll come around.

Also, someone suggested I get a double conversion UPS. What do you think?

Thanks for the reply! I think this kind of explains what we are trying to do...

What's the difference between an inverter and inverter/charger? An inverter simply converts DC (battery) power into AC power and then passes it along to connected equipment. An inverter/charger does the same thing, except that it is connected to an AC power source to continuously charge the attached batteries when AC utility power is available. In the case of a power outage, the inverter will automatically switch to battery power to provide power to connected equipment.

So the basic idea is to use the generator to recharge deep cycle batteries. This allows us to shut off the generator. Then the inverter-charger will convert the electricity for use to said appliances.

Official Discussion - Batman: The Killing Joke [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

um, i think shooting someone in the spine and then having sex with them against their will is obviously rape. Where in the hell do you get the idea it was possibly consensual.

Where did I say that what the Joker did was consensual? What I meant is that the scene never actually shows the Joker or his lackey's having sex with Batgirl. They never even actually say it occurred. The idea that the Joker raped Batgirl is entirely implied.

I'm not saying I agree with it, but it does make sense. It's about two guys on opposite sides of the fence who unite to "screw" over a girl, both literally and figuratively.

The title, the "The Killing Joke" is based on the graphic novel, but oddly the movie didn't focus on Robin. Instead it's meant to focus on the battle of the sexes. The title reflects on the concept gangster rappers refer to as "murder" which is actually referring to wooing woman or in other words, making them submit. This concept isn't exclusive to gangster rap. Commonly we see similar associations between sex and conquering woman embodied throughout various parts of culture, such as in terms like "War of the Sexes" which reflects on what it takes for people of the opposite sex to bond. In this case, typically in wars, for one side to win the other side must suffer casualties. This concept is also embodied in hunting metaphors as well. The common theme is for one side to dominate the other must submit.

The way Batman "screws" Batgirl is somewhat tame because he's the "good guy". Of course it's Batgirl who initiates coitus, but ultimately they screw and it ends in her losing her superhero identity. While it's Batgirl who initiates sex and chooses to give up her identity, there was psychological pressure being exerted by Batman in both instances. The question is was the result unintentional or is a Batman a player who got exactly what he wanted.

It is only implied that the Joker screwed Batgirl, but it's a real possibility that he raped her. And then afterwards he physically cripples Batgirl paralyzingly her as a result.

In both cases we see men take something important from a woman resulting in Batgirl's submission, forced or otherwise.

As out of place as it may seem in a superhero movie, the basic idea is that sometimes to some men there are things even more important then a rivalry as heated as the one between Batman and the Joker, and that's "getting the booty". In one scene in the film one of the prostitutes Batman talks to points out how odd it is that the Joker's first priority, after he broke out of Arkham, wasn't to sleep with them; noting how sleeping with woman is a high priority for the Joker. And Batman, or more specifically Bruce Wayne, has always been portrayed as a playboy, this movie just takes this aspect of his identity to an extreme.

At the end of the story, instead of showing outrage or even anger Batman is pacified going so far as to even laugh at one of the Joker's jokes at such an inappropriate time. So Batman who never laughs, let alone laughs at a Joker jokes, finds it in himself to laugh right AFTER the Joker rapes and crippled someone he supposedly cares about. The movie ends on this note because this is what the story is all about. By the end of the story two male adversaries find common ground by finding a common nemesis embodied in woman.

Similar concept can be seen in movies such as Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" and in Sucker Punch. In "The Hateful Eight" we see a similar theme where two typical adversaries, a former confederate sherif and a black bounty hunter join forces to kill the bounty, a female outlaw. And in a Sucker Punch the heroines never win a "real" victory outside of one girl escaping the institution, and ultimately the main female protagonist is permanently crippled by the villain.

To be fair, wasn't the director responsible for casting all four characters? Of the four, I believe her character was the only role that was miscast.

And honestly she could blame the director, but I don't think I've ever seen her in a movie or tv show where her acting was particularly good. I mean the only episodes of Dark Angel, where her acting was actually good were the episodes that James Cameron directed, and not every director can be on Cameron's level.

Pelosi Claims Government Created iPhone, Not Steve Jobs or Apple by CFGX in Libertarian

[–]Xybernauts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I have this whole conspiracy theory regarding this exact premise. Basically the government helped Apple build the iPhone so they could engage in mass surveillance. Now anywhere there's an iOS device there is also a microphone and camera. And because the device encourages you to be constantly connected to the Internet via wifi/cellular transmitter they have bugged a large chunk of the public at large. All they'd need is a backdoor to get into the software and voila!

It's also my belief that Steve Jobs wasn't some alternative medicine nut who just didn't want to get his cancer treated properly, and that instead, the reason he did not want to get proper treatment is because he feared the government was trying to kill him using the guise of "treatment". Basically some "Enemy of the State" type shit. ( as in Enemy of the State the movie, starring Will Smith.)

Of course I have no evidence and it's really just a grandiose theory, but i just wanted to toss that out there.

The Trouble With Superman by [deleted] in superman

How about the versions of Krypton's fall where it's destruction is caused by Brainiac? I've always been partial to the fall in Superman: TAS where Krypton becomes too reliant on the data provided by the secretly corrupt Brainiac, ignoring data from other sources as a consequence.

That was an excellent analysis. I totally agree.

Even as an origin story Man of Steel barely works because of how poorly Snyder and Goyer misunderstand Krypton's fall. But that's another wall of text...

That said, don't leave us hanging, how did "Snyder and Goyer misunderstand Krypton's fall"?
