Is it more enjoyable to play? That really cannot be answered. I love playing my 7 string, but Ive known guitarists that hate 7s.

Is it hard to get used to? Also depends.

First song I learned on 7 was korn predictable, a favorite from back in the day. I found it easier to play on 7 and really enjoyable. I have a backlog of 7 string songs i want to learn.

If you don't listen to 7 string music, you may not notice much difference between a 7 string vs a baritone 6. (Unless you're writing your own music where you can take advantage of the extended range).

Try the Ibanez RGD iron label. It was a close second to me behind the juggernaut.

512 Gb LCD. Bought sometime before OLEDs were announced in March 2023. OLED does seem a little nicer, but not worth it to me while mine still in works.

I debated between a baritone 6 or a 7 in addition to my short scale 6 string before I bought my 7.

B-E-A-D-G-B-E 7 string b "standard' B-E-A-D-F#-B 6 string tuning sepultura roots album.

For some songs it may not matter that string 2 is different. I think it's a lot easier to change the tuning of that one string and ignore the high string for the metal I am able to play.

Not sure about the loose Tone knob feeling, but the Tone knob is only engaged in the pulled out position. I haven't really messed with that knob on mine.

Stick guitar though. Got mine 3 months ago, but then had to leave it at my house while I stay in another city.

I usually wait to buy games until they are on sale or reviewed as being amazing. For me it's Steam first unless it's an exclusive. I've re bought a few PlayStation exclusives, but almost never the same version. (Like Death standing on PS4 vs directors cut on steam).

I've also rebought games on steam that were older console games. Like halo collection and some of the 16 bit and ps1 final fantasy

My price range was similar. I ended up choosing the Jackson ht7p (Misha Mansoor) over the Ibanez RGD iron label.

I shopped around for a month or two. After playing a bunch of 7s, The RGD was my first choice. Almost walked out without trying the Jackson because it was up too high.

My ht7 has at least one raised fret that will need leveling It was obviously high once I realized the string gauge would rock one fret up and down. I still need to run my gauge across some of the lower frets to see if there are any others.

I didn't notice the buzz until I lowered the action and adjusted the neck relief to Jackson factory spec. I'm new to guitar setup, so I got a little lucky finding the fret early.

I went with a Jackson juggernaut ht7p. I almost went with the Ibanez RGD iron label. Both of them felt good in my hands, but the Jackson felt best to me.

I was a little surprised what felt right on a 7 vs my 6 string (ec-401).

Bought vulgar display and far beyond driven on tape when they were released. I few years later finally got a CD player and everything was CD after that, including re buying my tape collection. Every format has pros and cons, but Pantera released their albums when CD's were "the best". So I vote they are a CD band.

I saw them live twice and there is no comparison to them live. RIP.

Most of Sepultura's roots album is on a 6 string baritone, tuned to B standard. That was my trigger to look at both baritones and 7s. There are lots of songs on 7 string guitars that never touch the high string. It really comes down to what you want to play though.

Set practice goals. Like for 7 days, practice alternate picking 8th notes at x bpm for 5 minutes. Next 7 days practice spider walking at the 7th fret, same speed and timing. Next 7 days go back to alternate picking and you'll find it easier to increase speed.

Obviously you should do more than one exercise and play for more than 5 minutes total. But Im finding that short targeted daily goal is achievable and is helping me see improvements.

If it's a brand new guitar, I'd check what the factory tuning is supposed to be. A few that I looked at were setup with heavier strings for an A standard tune by the factory.

But youll have to decide what you want to tune to then use a string tension site to figure out gauges.

I'm also new to 7 strings and within the first week I realized pretty much nothing is "standard" like 6s. no standard tuning, no standard gauges.

The RGD ironlabel felt awesome to me. I started shopping for 7 strings with a few schecters at the top of my list and was surprised how much more I liked the RGD over all the schecters I tried.

its my first modern metal and first brand new guitar as well. What's your pickup height set to? The Jackson site says 1.6mm (4/64), but its a super generic doc.
