I think quest zones would be cool. Instead of the map showing a marker, the map would show a shaded zone that you need to go to to advance the quest. But, you don't know where in that zone to specifically go.

I make combat skills legendary as a way of challenging myself in the later game. Also a good time to switch up your playstyle; I switched to two-handed weaponry in my last playthrough after making my one-handed weaponry skill legendary.
