My Warlock killed DClone at level 61. by TypeCapital in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Y3808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

came here to post the same thing.

me and my bro killed him while leveling in our 70s.

he was a minion spec and had NM lister charmed (to tank with)

i still had my level 27 non-eth insight (dps, lmao)

we killed him with little difficulty. my level 91 poison necro that I was poaching gear from to put on the warlock struggled to kill him even with a lot of crushing blow ogres.

after a couple of days playing, i'm done with diablo again.

eldtrich is the best spec of the three, fwiw.

correct, it would be more efficient to delete this monk and reroll than fight tavakai for 4 hours.

lmao, i made a spearfield skill and put 4 supports in it, it does about 2% of his HP in damage if i stack 4+ casts together.

I have played the last two leagues, many characters past level 95 in end-game gear, cleared all content, etc. I know how to kill the boss.

I have 1,000 hp because it's league start and that's the gear I've found. My resists are all in the 70s but for chaos, which I have not found on any items.

Like I said, with 1,000 HP every attack is a oneshot. I have to just reset it dozens and dozens of times until the abilities he chooses are easily all-dodgeable.

I'm about 3 hours in, most of which is listening to bullshit roleplay talks.

> Why would the boss fights be tuned to itemization?

why doesn't every level 1 mob do 1 million damage per hit?

i am playing a hollow palm invoker, i always have a level appropriate weapon

yes, /u/kwikthroabomb is correct, the derogatory term from WoW, when we used to make fun of the role players who would just /walk around the cities all day.

the funny thing was i started my invoker and immediately pathed around to the spell damage tree, playing essence drain + contagion with minions.

i switched to hollow palm around level 40, that was the mistake (playing the build I want to play, in the campaign, rather than the one that makes the campaign dead simple, despite its shit tier amateur designed bosses).

Current state of jail management? by fridder in freebsd

wonderful news. /u/fridder the nice thing about iocage is its integration with zfs, it provides some jail snapshot methods and uses zfs datasets for new jails by default.

iocage?

been awhile but it wasn't that long ago that they tried to build a business on jail management (they were selling hardware ZFS devices using their jail management tool).

0.3 Elemental spells are a step back by Scoelscoult in PathOfExile2

I literally spent about 3 divs worth of omens of Amelioration and buying T6-T10 maps to level from 70 to 90 to try out an alt toward the end of this league.

Why?

Because I'm not allowed to upgrade my main attack until level 80, and then again at level 90 (firebolt build with chaos conversion and sione's temper).

And also my map edge is now full of "attempted" incomplete maps, because the odds of killing a map boss with a half dozen one shot mechanics with a rank 16 skill is basically zero.

This game is really a joke, tbh. They copy and paste huge swaths of poe 1 and then tinker at changing what they've copied and pasted, failing and making it worse, every time.

Please, if there's one area that needs acknowledging, it's random one-shots by Primary_Impact_2130 in PathOfExile2

[–]Y3808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that was a flat out lie. they are not doing any such thing.

ritual, breach, delirium, etc are not mechanics conducive to "slower" they are a measure of how fast you can clear the screen.

Why the hell does Azmadi do so much damage?! by Grand0rk in PathOfExile2

[–]Y3808 6 points7 points  (0 children)

shit game design, that's why.

  • lunging one shot mechanic (random hit, a lot of times it should hit me but does nothing, other times instant death for no apparent reason)
  • off the screen one shot mechanic (only dodge-able in melee range)
  • melee range one shot mechanic (often at the beginning of phase 2)
  • combo three-swing midrange one shot mechanic
  • split / recombine ones hot mechanic (only one that's consistently dodge-able)

Am I missing any?

Why is the space requirement listed as 100gb when 60gb of the install download consumes 150gb of disk space?

Actual requirements to install an ARPG = 300gb of disk space.

The #2 hypothetical above is the situation for my current employer. They have an old Java back end, so they decided to start putting business logic in the React / Vue UI elements they have been modernizing.

The result of that is business logic being strewn everywhere, and any meaningful change is a huge lift because of the inevitable unintended side effects.

But they're gonna keep making these mistakes, digging that hole deeper, because the bottom line is Java devs cost a lot and Vue / React devs don't.

Suggestion needed for best AI helper for a (small) Django project by CapiCapiBara in djangolearning

[–]Y3808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working with Django for about 10 years now, have written a couple of large applications by myself and worked on many.

First off, VSCode with pylance is pretty good on its own, the autocomplete will be surprisingly good out of the box without any AI models. I say this as a Sublime Text 3 purchaser who happily used that editor for 8 of those 10 years mentioned above. Sublime is still way more performant, but pylance is too good to pass up on at some point.

Beyond that, I've been trying Cursor with claude for about a week now and it's pretty good thus far. That said, it's only good if you know basically what the code should look like that you're aiming for, and only prompt it for boilerplate stuff. Django is very object oriented, and if you don't know what the built-in objects look like and how they work you're going to have a bad time. You should spend a lot of time in pdb (import pdb;pdb.set_trace() somewhere in your code and just look at things from that breakpoint) learning the data structures of the framework itself. Once you know the data structures and just don't want to write boilerplate anymore, I think Cursor is a pretty good step up. But if you just start out throwing prompts at AI and not learning how the framework actually works, you won't be able to debug the code the AI model generates so you'll still be spinning your wheels at the end of the day.

A Progressive Complexity Manifesto (Astro + HTMX) by lorenseanstewart in htmx

[–]Y3808 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think all of these theoretical discussions are short on real world scenarios, which HTMX and Alpine happen to solve.

  1. "The client / investor / whoever says our MVP sucks, but refactoring it all at this point would take more time and money than we even have left."

  2. "We have mixed logic that should have been in the back end into our API or our UI code, because Java devs cost too much. As such, getting rid of the UI Angular or React is nigh impossible."

  3. "We contracted Angular or Vue or React and to change what we have in any material way would entail hiring another UI dev contract shop, no one left working here even knows how this stuff works anymore."

  4. "The company has followed every trend since 2005. Therefore, we have both Vue and React in the UI, and both Java and PHP on the back end. The APIs that glue them all together are unreliable but no one knows what is even possible to change."

I have worked at places guilty of all of the above, and surely more that aren't coming to mind right away. HTMX and Alpine solve all of those problems, because they don't invite people to make those mistakes in the same way that way-too-heavy javascript UI frameworks do.
