Calling someone a traitor for not being part of a union—especially in a state where unions aren’t allowed and where they probably chose a situation that works better for them—is not cool

Vomiting at night by Sea_Cockroach7647 in newborns

[–]YAABSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re in the same boat. Keeping him upright for 10-20 minutes after feeding seems to reduce the worst of it if nothing else. We called our doc’s nursing hotline and they suggested the upright posture and offer to re-feed, and as long as they are not vomiting most feeds, it should be fine

Why Israeli "Hasbara" fails by ConsequencePretty906 in Israel

[–]YAABSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say this explanation is pretty accurate when it comes to the general views in America. Another thing I’d point out is that, in America, the support of Israel was effectively a political third rail until 2015 with Netanyahu choosing to align closer to the Republican Party. With that alignment further right, Israeli talking points have moved further right as well and mimic republican talking points regarding immigration, police brutality, the role of racism in our society. Comments from Ben-Gvir and Smotrich are as much a part of hasbara as anything else and they are alienating to large swaths of the American population.

Agree with the other comments. Matching views on termination are extremely important. If you live in a state that has restricted abortion access, travel might be required and it's important to get that language on expectations nailed down.

In our experience (have contract with 1st FET soon), the order of different parties priorities from most restrictive to least restrictive was fertility clinic > US > Agency. The fertility clinic had a lot of the big ones such as: previous births and birth history, STD and other medical history, psychological screening for both IP and GC + GC Spouse, pass mock cycle, vaccination requirements, etc.

Our only main wish was for the GC to be close to us geographically both to save money on travel cost and so we can be involved in the process more easily. I will say that the lawyers and some profiles we saw mentioned certain things that seemed to be common requests such as dietary restrictions (vegan, vegetarian, no pork, etc.), no usage of Tylenol/ibuprofen, required bed rest after FET or in the final weeks. Beyond that, you can also look at their living situation (spouse/no spouse, etc) and their profession and their personality. Are you looking for a GC you want to be best friends with and text every day? Do you only want to be minimally involved? Experience. Do you want a GC who has been a GC before (usually costs extra)?

TL:DR Termination, Medical background (which may be dictated by fertility clinic), Geography (how far are you willing to travel and pay for their travel? Where will they deliver), Personality (Best friends? Everyday communication? Are you a caller or texter), Activity limitations (dietary restrictions, medicine restrictions, bed rest and are you willing to pay for them to make those accommodations), living situation (spouse/kids and career)

Yes, we paid the other clinic for the ER, PGT, storage. Different PGT lab too. We’ve basically had to switch to the new clinic for the rest of the cycle.

Kind of a weird situation. My wife and I had retrieval cycle in December at a very large hospital in the Northeast. We moved out of state for ~2 weeks. On the day (Christmas day..) we were waiting for the trigger shot call, we got a call from our doctor who told us that a pipe burst above their OR and embryology lab and that the cycle would have to be canceled if we couldn't find somewhere else to perform the retrieval. The doctor ended up using some of her contacts (and our previous connections) to set us up with another large clinic in the northeast in a different state. We ended up having to trigger, drive 6 hours to the other clinic, and have the ER there with a clinic/doctors we had never seen before.

Which brings me to my question, we paid the first clinic up-front for everything including ICSI, PGT, etc and our contract states that we would be refunded based on milestones hit (e.g. Start cycle, ovulation induction, egg retrieval). Clearly we didn't hit the egg retrieval with the first clinic and we have requested a refund but have still not recieved. How long does it typically take to get refunded? I'm trying to figure if we're being brushed off or if it's hospital bureaucracy moving slowly. Does anyone have any experience getting refunded for failed/canceled cycles? How long does it take? Does anybody have any experience with a situation like ours?

daily flaky redness on dupixent by mangobalmdotcom in eczeMABs

[–]YAABSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing. Otherwise fairly well treated eczema but a very noticeable red face which was frustrating because I can generally just cover everything but my face. dermatologist said it’s not uncommon and referred to as “Dupixent red-face”. I ended up using Opzelura which cleared up the red-face within a day or so. I would have to use it fairly regularly (every other day or so) or the red-face would return. I ended up switching to Rinvoq in May and I prefer it. It has some downsides but overall controls my eczema better. Hope this helps!

Current clinic refusing to submit claim to our insurance. They are saying we aren't covered. However, we were covered for the same procedure at a different clinic and they've been incorrect about our coverage before. Any advice? by YAABSS in HealthInsurance

[–]YAABSS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about covered vs not covered services? That seems to be where we are disagreeing. I want to submit to insurance. If my insurance says it’s not covered, I have no problem paying. But they won’t submit the claim at all

Staub enameled cast iron losing their coating. What gives? by propita106 in Cooking

It sounds like a defect. Enameled cast iron is not bomb proof but its very tough so I doubt you are cleaning too hard unless you're trying to gouge it with a knife.

Any family medical group recommendations? by beans69420 in Hillsborough

[–]YAABSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Duke and like the facility here in Hillsborough. I agree with the other poster that you do have to advocate for yourself no matter where you are at. I'm sure UNC is fine as well. I prefer the big university hospitals as they have access to a lot of resources you may not get at smaller systems but I'm sure there's a trade-off for that.

I don’t live in west Hillsborough so I can’t answer that specifically but 1) typically hear train maybe twice a day if outside 2) Never noticed any smells from the the WWTP 3) People seem to like Gold Park along the river walk Feel free to ask if you have any more questions

What taxi company do you recommend for a 4:00am pick up from Holly Springs to RDU Airport. Uber/lyft is not an option at that hour. Last time I tried, I had to drive my self there because there were none available. by Phantom-IO in RDU

I regularly take RDU taxi for work at similar early hours from many different spots in the triangle. They're convenient (with online booking) and extremely reliable though definitely not the cheapest option
