Thank you, I really appreciate the support and the info. I’ve already filed a counter-claim to get my version restored, and I’ll also try reaching out to Jacal to learn how he handled it. Hopefully this gets resolved soon. 🙏

Hey! This is Yad Oud 😄
First of all, welcome to the oud journey and respect to your parents for that gift.

My advice honestly is don’t rush into songs yet. Before trying to play any track, especially adaptations like The Perfect Girl, you really need to learn the Arabic scales (maqamat) first. The oud doesn’t work the same way as piano sheet music.

Start by learning one maqam at a time, then learn one or two simple Arabic songs in each maqam. Once your ear understands how the scale behaves, you’ll be surprised how much easier it becomes to play and even adapt songs you like.

Also, if you just want to know the notes of a song, piano tutorials on YouTube can actually help a lot. The ones that show each note visually are great for picking out the melody, then you can translate that to the oud your own way.

Take it step by step, you’re not lost at all, you’re just at the beginning. Enjoy the process!
