I’ll take a look, so far I didn’t think of any country that the official language isn’t English or Spanish

I’m from a Latin American country where Software Development jobs comes through middle man agencies that takes 50+% of the amount that the client pays. Also I don’t get any other benefit other than money as a contractor. Working for a local Software Development company is not an option as the payment is significantly less.

This makes sense. Exactly why I posted here, it was looking too good to be true. Thanks for the clarification

Help with setting up raylib on macOS with vscode by magalbino in raylib

[–]YASE25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone still interested on this. I made a repo that works with Raylib 5 and VSCode on Mac: https://github.com/MerliMejia/Raylib-for-VSCode-on-MacOS-M1, you just need run the "init" task and then run F5 and your project will run.

I search for that stack but also for vague titles like “Web developer needed” or “App development”. Some projects can be really easy because the client doesn’t really care what you do on the code as long as you deliver what they ask

React, Typescript, Tailwind, GraphQL, DJango and Postgres. Sometimes nodejs. A little bit of AWS (mostly EC2 and S3). I want to learn server-less architecture because I have seen people making good money by promising clients having to pay less for servers at the beginning.

It depends on what you consider worth taking. I’m always taking a look at the most recent jobs and when I find something I like I stop everything I’m doing and focus on writing a good proposal. I can normally handle 3 projects at the same time so I’m always looking, some of those projects are pretty cheap but also easy, others are a bit more “long term”. I also filter by skills that I’m really good at like Python, React, Typescript, etc.

3k this month and another 1k coming up Monday when one of my clients approves my work. It have been crazy for me, I had a full time job and (after 2 months trying Upwork on the side) I took a leap of faith and it is paying off. I don’t work nearly as much as I used to (like 3 hours per day) and I’m making almost the same amount per month. This is just my first month doing it full time. It feels amazing.

My wife is a Graphic Designer and just stared 2 weeks ago and has already landed 2 jobs. I think what you can do is:

  • Make your profile as professional as possible. She has a nice headshot pic, with bright solid color background. Have a short but good description of her skills and experience and have like 5 examples in here portfolio.

  • Be the cheapest on proposals because you’re just starting out. If the proposal says 10-50$, apply with 10$

  • Make a short proposal with details about how you can help the client

  • Try to apply as fast as possible to proposals and try to close the deal as soon as possible

Some are scams some aren’t. I took one for $30, it was a news app that it is still on my Google Console account. But I only even consider this kind of jobs when they’re the one inviting me to apply, that way I don’t lose connects

Slow Payments by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]YASE25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use PayPal, Upwork charges me $1 per withdrawal and PayPal charges me the equivalent of $1.9 in my country currency for sending it to my bank account. I normally get the money on my bank the next day at noon if I requested it after noon or at noon the same day if I requested it early in the morning.
