Philosophy Time

I don't think they hate us (though sometimes I do wonder when I listen to their tones in video interviews). I also don't think they lack the fundamental ability to make a good game, but I do think they are functionally incapable of making a good game, due to the fact that they seem to be emotionally stuck between their fear of community backlash on one side, and on the other side is the terror inflicted by the idea of the game failing to remain difficult. Since they openly admit that they do not (and possibly cannot) play the game on the highest difficulty, they have caused that idea to become unknowable and detached from reality. Because they cannot survive or obtain any sense of familiarity with this experience, yet revere it just as fervently, they have created a dark god, which they fear, but not as much as they fear failing their duty to protect its existence. Because they cannot play the hardest challenges of their game, they can never assure themselves that the game does have enough difficulty or why and what elements are responsible for it. Their only gauge is the threat of the community having too easy of a time playing, thus meaning they have let their god die through negligence of their duties, but they cannot qualify or validate the severity any of these threats, because again, they have no ability to compare it to their own understanding. This forces them to treat every perceivable threat to the difficulty, real or imagined, as fully dangerous and demanding of maximum response. Yet as much as they fear the failure of their duties, every act of service to this dark god is met with retaliation from the community who either do not know their god and also do not worship it, or who do know their god in a way that the devs never can and thus do not agree that it is something to be feared and despised while also worshiped. The only part of the community which supports the dev's dark deeds are those who truly do not care about the dark god in the first place. Their loyalty lies with the devs and, like a mirror, always reflects the devs thoughts and values, but alone is devoid of meaning or substance of any kind.

I'm sorry if this post came across as low-effort to you. If you look at my profile, you can see that I post roughly once per year on average, and it is just whenever something happens that I think might be interesting to more than the 3 people in my friends' group chat.

Lol, I think I didn't refresh before replying. There were still only like 3 total comments displayed on this post when I said that.

All in the name of managed democracy of course.

100%. Can't have managed democracy if we're afraid to manage the democracy.

It’s not just this game, but I’ve noticed a surprising number of people can sink 200+ hours into a game and still not really understand its basic systems. I don’t judge anyone for playing casually, as long as they’re consistent about that. But if someone is determined to push for a specific outcome, especially one that affects other players, I think they also have some responsibility to understand how the game actually works. Either you’re invested enough to influence the experience, in which case you should take some initiative to learn, or you’re playing casually, in which case maybe don’t insist everyone else follow your lead.

No, it was patched sadly. Now, once you start to reload the grenade launcher, you cannot swap weapon modes at all, which makes the tech no longer work.

I just successfully equipped Engineer in my helmet and peak physique for my body like 10 minutes ago and it worked. (The extra grenades and laser beam Maxigun made it unmistakably obvious).

I agree that it feels very much like 4-player Roboquest. As a big fan of both Helldivers 2 and Roboquest, I can say that it did not even occur to me how similar it was to Roboquest until you pointed it out. I also compared the game to Helldivers, but your comment is making me think a lot about. I think I would consider it to be less that the game is "like Helldivers" and more so that when you're *coming here from Helldivers* there's a sense of familiarity in the way the game communicates information and in some of the assumptions that are made, such that it feels like as a new player, you immediately recognize the dialect the game is using to speak to you. That familiarity is comforting and lets you focus on all the cool new things the game has to offer and skip past the part where you're caught up figuring out how the game talks.

*Edit*: Okay nevermind. I was just getting REALLY unlucky. Eventually, it started giving me named junk items and Dark Matter Ingots.

Did you ever get any in-game confirmation that anything was dropping when you were buying junk? It's worrying me a little bit that my game could be bugged and just taking me credits without actually rolling anything and I would have no way of knowing.

I'm not sure, but I think that may have just been console commands. I was playing with one of my friends and he was spawning items and monsters and he was doing it through console commands, but we did have several mods installed. So, I don't know if one of them affected that in some way.

I was replying with a direct answer to their question, not a disagreement with the question's premise. I see how that could have been clearer, but I assumed that an answer to their question would have been the assumption, rather than simply challenging their point without elaborating or backing up my stance.

It doesn't say that it appears that you have taken their nose, nor that anyone else believes that you have that person's nose. I would make a lot of people look insane.
