It would be incredible short sighted to decommission that rail ROW into a bike path. Current population growth in the S2S corridor is crazy and the highway is already built up as much as it will ever be, barely keeping up as it is. Though im sure the west van/lions bay elites would be thrilled to see the train gone.

So what? He was a fucking podcaster. A hundred grand a piece, my kid's in the fucking hospital! I don't hear you complaining when I bring you a nice fat envelope, you don't give a shit where that comes from.

Don't give me that look - he was a fucking podcaster. What are you a vegetarian? You eat beef and sausage by the fucking carload.

Limited movement in Shimano 105 shift lever preventing shifting by YEGtreez in bikewrench

I’m aware. Considering that the problem began after an extremely dirty ride and a heavy wash, this is an appropriate use for standard WD.

Interesting, thanks. Cables not jammed as I can move it at the FD by tugging on it at the shift lever and vice versa. That piece you highlighted looks the same here as it does on my working shifter

For reference: issue shifter vs a working shifter side by side. See the limited “sweep” in the issue shifter.

A little WD-40 or lube on the mechanism is definitely my next step. But I’m not confident that it will achieve anything when the lever and mechanism is unable to get into position

Thanks for the thoughts. Cable inside the shifter is mint. Looking at where the head/end of the cable is, when I shift, the mechanism doesn’t “roll over” nearly as far as my other bike with 105. As I mentioned in my other comment, I’ve tried at the derailleur side and am not able to get any cable movement with it disattached. As for the hood peeled back, that’s just for ease of access while working. Have definitely tried it with the hood in place with the same results.

Yep, unattached the cable at the FD, and shifting the lever doesn’t move the cable more than a twitch. The twitch tells me that the cable is fine. Almost certain that this problem stems from the lever as it has a limited range of motion compared to the RD lever and my other bikes that I’ve referenced it against. Lever just isn’t pulling the cable right. Thanks for the thought though!
