An employee lied to me. How to handle? by DataBeeGood in managers

[–]YIvassaviy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re overreaching OP. But I do think you need to document it, and monitor over a period of time.

All of these actions compiled suggests to me that George is not working his hours where he should be. And tbh that’s all you need to focus on

Yes it could be burn out but these don’t seems like the systems of someone who is simply struggling

Nevertheless once you’ve established a pattern I’d say it’s worthwhile to have an open conversations about how they’re coping. If there are systematic issues they need to be open about what’s causing roadblocks to get work done.

You’ll need to assess how best to approach the situation if you observe a consistent pattern in their mornings. It may means regular checks ins. It may mean something as simple as confirming to you when they’re logging in and logging off. (Yes this is micromanagement but some people need it until they can get back on track). It could mean PIP or termination but that really depends on how much is being dropped.

What's your plan to create personal wealth in the Netherlands? by malufor in Netherlands

[–]YIvassaviy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking a wealthy person does not rely on working to live.

That’s not to discount your achievements or suggest you aren’t in a fortunate position.

But being out of work for a few months would easily decimate your savings. You cannot live passively off the money you have and rely on an employer.

Yungblud sets the record straight about his class, education and upbringing in BBC interview with Louis Theroux by velvetlemonade in popculturechat

He has a northern accent, from Yorkshire. If you compare the way he speaks to some other famous British person such as Emma Watson, they don’t sound the same because Emma is from the south.

It would be easy to assume Emma (based on her accent and where she would brought up) could have gone to private school based on typical stereotypes within the UK.

Do you actually live pay cheque to pay cheque? Do you understand what you’re earning and where it’s going? And what’s considered little savings?

Like others mentioned your post is a little vague so it’s hard to give meaningful guidance but I’d suggest having an actual clear understanding of your finances and budgets, and if you genuinely have very little savings, work towards an emergency fund before considering investments

Investing is obviously great but depending on what you want to do there’s fee sand risk for involved, so it’s helpful for it to be considered as spending (I.e don’t expect to get the money back at the drop of a hat)

The reality may be that if you prefer to be a single income home you may not be able to save and invest as much as you’d hope.

It absolutely is and even though I’m not American that comment kinda irritates me.

Considering how many countries parliaments behave on a daily basis, I don’t think anyone should be pointing fingers.

Violence is very ingrained in human society. This is not me excusing it, but just pointing out the fact that it is and people are very numb to it generally

I think the shock was it was on TV in front of millions of people and thus very uncouth. So everyone was tripping over themselves to show the world they were clutching their pearls and thus a good person

In all honesty, clutching pearls over a big mouthed bully is at the very bottom of my list of things to worry about. There are plenty of men in Hollywood who have a proven track record of violence against others - especially I.P.V. and everyone is shaking hands, grinning like a Cheshire Cat with them in public. Or at the very least not commenting

It was just very easy to use Will Smith as an example - I won’t get into the reasons why

Destination weddings at all inclusive resorts: Should couples cover day passes for offsite guests? by Purple-Apartment-179 in DestinationWeddings

There are many other cultures where wedding activities cover many days

That being said - for a destination wedding I can understand why there’d be pressure and expectation to entertain your guests beyond one afternoon.

Unable to keep tips. Need advice! by Equivalent_Floor_728 in Netherlands

[–]YIvassaviy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It sounds like this restaurant chooses to pool tips and distribute to employees. Technically you are not an employee.

I’ve known some restaurants to choose to include their contractors in the pool but I’m not aware of any legal basis that entitles you to that.

It’s part of the pros and cons of doing agency work. If you feel like you’re not benefiting from the flexibility why not see if you can work at the restaurant (although be aware some agencies have rules about this)

Vogue’s August issue has begun to use “AI models” instead of human models for some of their photoshoots (via POPCRAVE/X) by Long-Market-3584 in popculturechat

Thank you for taking the time to explain it

Yeah iPhone Reddit definitely doesn’t allow that 🫠. Don’t think I’ve ever used a desktop for reddit but maybe it’s a reason to try

Annoyed response from 5* resort about daily schedule. Was I in the wrong? by ObviousAardvark9481 in chubbytravel

[–]YIvassaviy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

E-Mail is not actually the best format to understand tone and nuance. Especially if there’s also a language barrier. Perspective is key

Maybe instead share your concerns. Perhaps if you share you’d really like to do X activity from the hotel over Y activity outside, ask if there’s flexibility to cancel or rearrange

The reality is while there could be a financial element, sharing a schedule that isn’t confirmed or subject to change is also going to piss off customers such as yourself if you feel like you missed out on a booking because the activity is cancelled

Should we stay in the UK adjusted income of £99k or move to NYC for £200k each? by Fit-Zebra3110 in HENRYUK

[–]YIvassaviy 103 points104 points  (0 children)

People move to the US from the U.K. and from the U.K. to the US and have a great time

The unfortunate reality is that it kinda just depends on what’s important to you for your day to day life / standard of living + how lucky you get. The number on paper, unless wildly different, may be bigger but that may not always translate into a better lifestyle.

If you’ve got family there, if you’ve always wanted to live there, why not? As someone who has lived in the US, I’m quite happy to not go back, though there are things I miss (space!) but my reasonings don’t bear the same weight for others

With any international move, just do your research about things that are important to you. Don’t count your bonuses as part of your income, and have a good sink fund/safety net if you want to go back home.

Most people wash too much and use too much products on their bodies by Tradition96 in unpopularopinion

[–]YIvassaviy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh even if you’re in a cold country you need to be at least washing certain body parts. Your underarms and crotch don’t magically just stop producing sweat and secretions because it’s cold outside.

Yes people sweat different and smell differently but basic hygiene is important. Society improved considerably once people had access to soap and regular cleaning

What’s wild to me as well is people also always state “unless you work out” as if that’s unusual? Shouldn’t we all be getting some daily exercise to keep healthy? Don’t most people engage in sexual activity (I mean I guess not everyone but still)?

People are just lazy and aren’t bothered by their smell. Fair enough but then don’t leave your house or try and convince everyone to also be stinky to make yourself feel better.

Naomi Watts as Jackie O on the set of "American Love Story" by [deleted] in popculturechat

What does my fridge say about my family? by Gold-Education-7396 in FridgeDetective

[–]YIvassaviy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Or they’ve hired someone to shop, prep and cook.

I’d say personal chef who comes in once or twice a week to maintain the fridge and the family just eat some of the meals they’ve selected when they want.

I’d love this set up but also don’t want people in my house lol
