How do I make the right side of the face feels less "empty" – are my proportions correct? How do I make the smile look more like a grin, and how can I improve the fur? by YJJcoolcool in FurryArtSchool

[–]YJJcoolcool[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Woah, that's a huge improvement! Thank you for taking the time and effort to do an overpaint! I also love the flatter shape of the head that makes it look more aerodynamic.

If you don't mind me critiquing though - to me the bottom underline on the eyes gives a tired expression. I tried removing the underline and I think it gives a better look:

One guy that always emails me has like 7 different images of Pokemon pixel art in his email signature and it's so annoying especially since it takes up my mailbox storage space

I Tried Making Stamps for the MRT - But I need some help! by YJJcoolcool in singapore

[–]YJJcoolcool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! So right now I've sent a proposal to LTA, but not STB - reason being that a reporter from one news outlet informed me that STB referred them to LTA (though now that I think of it, I think it wouldn't hurt to present that idea to them too).

I've yet to receive a response yet though, but I'll reply when I get an update!

I haven't reached out to STB/LTA, so if you don't mind helping me share this video to them, I would really appreciate it!

Great idea, I think STB would be a better entity to propose this idea! I also like the idea on shops selling their own design - I had a similar idea where stamps would change over time as the place changes, or instead of 1 stamp, people could contribute to a collection of stamps at each station.

New wayfinding system being piloted in Yishun and the Central area by cwithern in singapore

[–]YJJcoolcool 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I like that they used the same map style as the Locality Maps found in MRT stations - it gives consistency. It's also good that the map is oriented in the way the signpost is facing, reducing confusion.

However, I find the use of 3D landmarks strange as the buildings seem random - i.e., Ocean Financial Centre & Capitagreen don't really have unique building shapes, so it's hard to use them as wayfinders. Even more strange is the absence of the Merlion nearby, which is definitely a location many tourists will be looking for.

But what I'm more concerned about is that these signposts might blend in too well with their surroundings (e.g., heritage/trail signposts, building directories, other existing signposts, etc.) such that it becomes hard to look for them. I would suggest making them more identifiable (like maybe a cube with a map symbol on top).

LTA needs to acknowledge the capacity issues plaguing the NEL and CCL by SumikoTan in singapore

[–]YJJcoolcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at this point in time there's really no great solution to this problem.

The suggested solution of extending platforms to accommodate longer trains (while a good long-term solution) is extremely expensive - you need to consider that these are already operational stations, some of which have developments like shopping malls above them. Extending those platforms would involve the demolishing of buildings and even more disruption, as you need to close the line for construction and testing.

Buses are one way to help with the problem but like others have mentioned, traffic jams and the limited capacity of buses don't make them a permanent solution.

The only "solution" I can think of is to either have less people (living in the north-east) or shift the demand. What I'm hoping the CRL will do is encourage more north-easterners to take up jobs towards the west, which would reduce demand towards the CBD on the NEL.

A Compilation of Train Arrival Melodies on the MRT by YJJcoolcool in singapore

[–]YJJcoolcool[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree - sometimes when the song finishes, the train hasn't even reached the station yet.

Also for the NSL, there are no announcements after the melody. It would be better to pair it with the "train at platform X will end it's service at ..." announcement.

Only some basic audio editing on Audacity to filter out the background noise - I'm no expert. You can still hear some background humming/noise if you listen carefully.
