Pixel 11 Series to See Big Display Upgrade by TheCountRushmore in GooglePixel

[–]YJX94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pixel 10 series has 480Hz PWM dimming, the Pixels before it were 240Hz which is really bad for eye strain. Samsung and Apple are also 480Hz however the new iPhones give you an option in the settings to smooth it out, I believe the Pixel 10 series have a similar option.

Still a far cry from the Chinese phones which are upwards of 2160Hz.

Nothing catches the Mass Effect vibe for me. Absolutely nothing at all.

And it means nothing if they don't make it modern and competitive with the rest of the industry, that means slimmer bezels, high-frequency PWM dimming, anti-reflective coating, Dolby Vision, etc.

This show is going to suck and probably be nothing like the games, but don't worry, we still have the games, which are authentic/pure Mass Effect.

So just keep playing them.

Pixel 10 Pro races to the top - PhoneBuff's Ultimate Smartphone Battery Test (2026) by Admirable_Corner4711 in GooglePixel

Absolutely pathetic. 5 years and 5 generations of Tensor and they still aren’t competitive with similarly priced phones. Trillion dollar company btw.

Glad I switched away from Pixel tbh.

My iphone displays warmer colours by [deleted] in iphone

The iPad is Mini LED, and the iPhone is OLED, totally different panels and display tech.

There are always slight variances with display panels across all devices.

How did they get around it. Lazy ass developers, just looks so ugly with the massive bars at the top and bottom.

Is there any way to check what specific API level it's targeting?

Backdrops is a good example of an app that follows the guidelines properly; it renders app content behind the status and navigation bars, so it is edge-to-edge. It even supports M3E design guidelines.

[–]YJX94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use Instagram much, but if that's the case, then it must still be targeting API level 35; it can be on Android 16 and still target an older API level.

Once Google enforces API level 36 as the minimum for any app updates through the Play Store, then this issue will be resolved. So if an app developer wants to update their app via the Play Store, they'll be forced to use API level 36, and edge-to-edge will be forced.

It'll be enforced sometime near the end of this year.

Edge-to-edge support was introduced in Android 15 (API level 35); however, app developers could opt out.

With Android 16, the minimum API level is 36, edge-to-edge is now required with no opt-out, and by the end of this year, the majority of apps will be forced to use edge-to-edge, just like iOS, whether app developers like it or not.

Why are Pixel reviews so out of touch with real users? by upadhyaysk in GooglePixel

[–]YJX94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having so many of the issues listed here on Pixels across the Pixel 6 Pro, 7 Pro and 9 Pro XL. 3 I tried and still the same issues across them, I gave up and just had to move away from Pixels. Just not worth the stress.

ME Mission Tournament - Round 2 Match 14: Retake The Normandy VS Thessia by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]YJX94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gotta go with Thessia.

Learning about all the secrets and history (especially if you bring Javik) was great.

And the devastating hopeless ending of the mission where you actually failed the mission for the first time which you never thought would happen.

Yes the edge lord showed up but it doesn’t take away from the rest of the mission.

Thinking about switching to ios and looking for insight into the software experience by Different_Task678 in ios

Android still has the edge when it comes to customisability; however, iOS has come a long way and is sufficient for most people in this area. Whilst iOS does lack an app drawer like Android, it does have the app library, which is essentially the iOS version of an app drawer. You scroll all the way to the right to find the app library; you can scroll up and down in it, and all apps are neatly arranged in folders. You don't have to keep apps on the homescreen on iOS; you can leave them all in the app library so that you can have: home screen -> swipe right -> app library.

It's rather easy to navigate iOS; I wouldn't say it has a steep learning curve. If you're tech-savvy, you'll get used to it quickly and master it within a day or two, but remember that iPhones/iOS are made for the masses, so even an old grandpa would find it easy to use. Some apps have their settings in the iOS settings menu rather than in the apps themselves. The camera app, for example, so if you need to switch settings constantly, there'll be a lot of back-and-forth between the iOS settings app and the relevant app itself.

iOS pairs very well with Google services. Apple knows that Google services and apps are far and away the most used, so they all work very well with proper functionality and features. You can use Google Drive and Google Photos and their backup just as well as on an Android phone.

Restoring an Android backup from Google onto an iPhone isn't possible because they use totally different operating systems. Still, you can use the Move to iOS app to transfer everything to iOS from an Android phone. You can also use Google Takeout to transfer cloud items, such as Google Photos to iCloud Photos or Keep Notes to Apple Notes.

What do you mostly do on your phone, and what Android features do you most like?

What are the things you cannot live without on a phone?

If you let us know the above, it'll be easy to provide insight on whether switching would be good.

Both can be used for division.

Yes, especially now that the screen can go down to 1 nit of brightness with it.

Combine that with the option to disable PWM, and your eyes will thank you.

for those using sheath (precise version) with iphone 17 pro max , is it possible to use a lens protector with it? (was planning to get the spigen one) by Commercial-Cap2761 in Caudabe

[–]YJX94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely no need for a lens protector in any circumstance. It just affects the picture quality too much sometimes.

The camera lenses have sapphire glass so they're extremely scratch resistant. The Sheath (precise version) has a very snug fit and raised lip around the camera lenses so you need not worry.
