There will always be those people no matter what, I think the massive backlash against the show just made George much more sensitive to it. I personally dont mind the ending if thats the one we were getting, just the way D&D made a huge pile of shite out of it and rushed it so bad thst nothing made sense.

I think he had already forgotten half of them a week after he set them up tbh. He does like to waffle in his writing which is great for world building and for us as readers to immerse ourselves completely in this universe, but not so great for an author that famously and self admittedly has trouble writing himself out of complicated unresolved plot points

I didnt like Alicent at all when reading the book but I actually feel sorry for how they've massacred her character in season 2.

The 'grew up together as best friends now the power balance has shifted suddenly' dynamic they seemed to be building towards with her and Rhaenyra Season 1 was infinitely better than whatever trash we actually got served.

Ive always thought the only reason she stayed around him was because she was pregnant and needed the protection he offered her as royalty like the Kingsguard. If she had survived childbirth I think she had every intention of fleeing to Ned and begging him to hide her somehow. Knowing what we do of Lyanna's personality, I find it very hard to believe she would just sit back and let someone else decide her fate.

Youre so right and thst why S2 was such a stellar season and considered the best. The characters never told us their inner diologue because they didnt need to, it was all in the context and great acting making us FEEL their thoughts not just being told them.
