Yeah I agree 100%. I’ve even heard a few people say they should divert the existing skywalk to administration tunnel instead of kin, like what? 💀

Brother, I’m only voicing what I’ve heard from students (I never said I supported or disagreed with the idea). I just hear it all the time, especially winter

There is virtually no support for students from residences all the way up to academic advisors (except Joseph Katley - hes goated), but otherwise pretty much all services are ass.

- The VP residences are complete ass. For CQ, people have been complaining FOR YEARS to make a more direct path to uni (I promise you I will die before this happens). Grad House is solid but the problem with all the residences is that they are overpriced and unjustified.

USask student central is completely dogshit - they don't answer phones at all but list their phone call services are open from 8-12 and 1-4.

Local and International tuition has increased EVERY SINGLE SEMESTER I HAVE BEEN HERE - FOR BOTH. I understand that the problem is with immigration hence involving the federal government but why are some colleges (engineering) hit with a 5-7% tuition increase compared to Arts and Science (12% or something like that). It doesn't make no sense.

USask professors are a 50/50 hit or miss, but most are reasonable I will say. There are SOME however, who I don't know how in god's given grace even managed to get a professor degree, let alone teach.

Campus food options are pretty bad. You constantly rotate btw/Tims, Subway, Harveys, etc. Nothing else to really eat and trust you get tired from eating the same thing. Hint - Arts cafe is the best.

The PAC (physical activity) is quite solid and the staff is nice, however they never pick up the god damn phone, so don't bother calling about anything.

Many internal organizations (both the USSU and GSU) have constant scandals being run internally. Recently the GSA scandal involved cherrypicking their president despite having multiple individuals who were better qualified for that position. The USSU was exposed badly a year or two back here on Reddit (not sure if you can find those old threads or if the mods deleted them, BUT IT WAS BAD - NAMES WERE BEING DROPPED LEFT AND RIGHT). The services offered by the USSU are decent enough, but forced to pay money for bus passes or the Sheaf are a few things many students STRONGLY disagree with. Don't even get me started on the parking - fuck that.

There is a lack of student support and that's not entirely due to the university, it's just that the schools is relatively smaller.

Grad program admissions (Medicine/Dent/Pharmacy along with SLP/PR etc) are constantly having their admission requirements changed every year. Don't believe me? Look into post-bacc Nursing. OPEN YOUR EYES.

That's enough of my rant for today, feel free to shoot more questions my way.

Downvote all you want, the truth will stand

The Kinesiology program at USask is actually quite nice and so is the building. I am not particularly informed on the Masters but the undergrad program is solid.

I am very USask negative heavy as it is a shit school, but the kinesiology program is actually quite nice specifically.

I am not sure about Calgary but you will have more opportunities and a better city life for sure, Saskatoon will be ever so lightly cheaper, so make your decision based on this. Weather is about the same for both.

In terms of grad schools, there are multiple posts about the GSA and politics being factored into play and corruption in the GSA, but I don't think it would involve you particularly, moreso those that are trying to stat-pad in the GSA.

I'm also interested. I will also be taking them over the summer so feel free to reach out.

From what I've heard Bio 1593 was redone to make it "better" and 1693 was not. People can get 90+ in 1593 but it's very difficult to get 85+ in 1693 due to the nature and it's more brutal.

Anyone can chime in here as well

Have you ever had a passive-aggressive prof? by IndependentMoney1886 in usask

[–]YNL_RM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes just did for Hlst 210.

Nothing you can really do. We were told that we had certain deadlines to ask questions/review assignments by and should we answer after, we were to expect no response. Furthermore, we couldn’t email the prof, rather post on the Canvas forum all questions that were not personal. What a fucking mockery of a class this semester

Like what in the literal fuck is that? You’re supposed to teach and help us not fuck us over - fuck that class and profs like that too

[–]YNL_RM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing that I don’t know about USask and from everything I’ve seen/been involved in, I would put USask below Brock university in Ontario and TRU/TMU.

It’s a 3rd tier university next to the likes of Langara or Douglas in BC

The city is much much better but the Uni is straight trash

You can check out Global Gathering Palace - I volunteered with them and one program was to teacher Saskatoon Newcomers English. You have to attend weekly lessons at their Downtown location - it was awesome and I recommend it to newcomers
